Always a great meal at the CI. They change the menu seasonally and the food is always great. One of my favorites.

We split butternut squash bisque for our starter. It was delicious & easily could have been a meal on its own. We each had the salmon which was perfectly prepared. To finish we had two different flavors of gelato. I had decaf coffee which was very good. The entire meal was wonderful. My only frustration is I always find it to be loud. Other than that I've always had a good meal at The Inn.

This was the worst experience I have ever received dinning here. My family and I have been coming here for over 12 years for family brunch to anniversaries and birthday parties. The first issue was after being seated. My grandmother and I sat for 15 minutes and our waiter or waitress had not greeted us. We has specially came for the brunch buffet so I told my grandmother to get her food and I would wait to put in our drink order. My grandmother came back and still we had not been waited on.So I went to the hostess stand to let them know we were still waiting for our server. Then I went to get my food and by the time I came back Jennifer had came already. Through out dinning she was not attentive. I had to ask another server to ask her to come and that took her 10 mins to respond. My prime rib was cold off of the buffet and I sent it back to be reheated which took 20 minutes. We chose to dine before the lunch rush so it was not busy. Mind you there were plenty of other staff members rotating about the area, even a manager who checked on other parties to see how everything was gong but he never came to our table. And our table was not hard to miss (5 top round left of the buffet). I thought the Columbus Inn was a pleasant place to dine but I guess things have changed. As a fellow person who works in the food/ hospitality industry I understand and have gone through the same things that I experienced on this very day. I'm very upset on how there was a lack of accountability and apologies toward us for our dinning experience. On a positive note there was a very pleasant and professional server, a slender Caucasian male with blond hair. He was the only person who checked on us and was very welcoming. He is a keeper and I hope you treat him well for HIS customer service. His alone was better than the restaurant as a whole.

I always enjoy the Columbus Inn. And, will continue to. But, the food service this time was slower than average. And, the women’s bathroom is really worn for a restaurant of this caliber. Paint and finishes scratched and worn and on the ceiling above the sink there was a full section of paint peeling off.

Excellent food and drink options. Service was a bit slow. Ambiance a bit noisy, but not bad overall and better than other places I have been. Would recommend.

Our group enjoyed their lunch. Food was good, but two people had to send their filets back to cook a bit longer. Service was slow, though not many people were there. Also some of the food was warm when delivered, not hot. Our waitress was good.

A group of colleagues and I meet once a month for dinner. We have chosen Columbus Inn several times because of the excellent menu and choices. But this time we chose it because of the chef's dinner special. On Tuesdays one may choose from the selections made by the chef for a great three course meal. We were seated outside this time and it was fine although more noisy than usual. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Food was fine but service was not good. Our server tried to make up for it by comping our drinks and the manager gave us cards for two free appetizers on a return visit... which will not happen.

We made a reservation at this historic building for brunch to celebrate the birthday of one of our friends. The brunch buffet was absolutely amazing with a wide variety of delightful food that would satisfy anyone. The patio was gorgeous, as was the rest of the building. For what we enjoyed, the price was outstanding and I highly recommend it.

Haven't been to CI in awhile. Food was terrific. Two of us had the steakhouse which came with 2 good size filets perfectly cooked with a blue cheese wedge and steak fries. Another had the special of scallops and short rib. He loved it! The chicken with waffles was good but not super.
And of course the smash burger was great. Service was just a little too slow. Seemed like our waiter had the entire front dining room. Our water was filled but we had to wait awhile for drinks and our food.

This is the second time in recent weeks that we have been to this restaurant and, unfortunately, the experience was similar to the one a few weeks ago.
We found the food to be good....no complaints there.
What bothered us is that even with the restaurant not particularly busy the service was horrible.
We had to wait quite a while for our drinks and then wait a very long time for our dinners.
Again, the restaurant was not particularly busy but we had the same experience with slow service the time before.
We will be rethinking our choice of local restaurants.

The food was decadent. The shrimp appetizer was deliciously simple. The beet salad was interesting. There were 3 of us and we shared 3 separate meals. The filet mignon was cooked perfect and melted in your mouth. The right amount of spinach and mushrooms cradled the steak. The next dish was the shrimp pineapple rice. This dish was so fluffy and light and offered an interesting flavor with each bite. The topping of asparagus was outstanding. I would have loved to have more spears on the dish. The third dish was crab cakes which were phenomenal. The drinks were out of this world. I will definitely be back. Excellent choice.

My husband and I had dinner reservations for date night. The outdoor heater was not working and it was very chilly. Our waitress was very sweet but the restaurant made no move to change our seating or fix the heater. My husband's meal was great but my portions were half the size for twice the cost. We eat out regularly at various local restaurants and I would say this restaurant has lovely ambiance but there are other restaurants that equally do for better value. It feels like the place wants to make up for the limited hours by overcharging.

The Columbus Inn looks a little old fashioned from the outside but the food is anything but. They have a large menu and seemed to be able to get everything right. Highlights: pumpkin soup was fall in a bowl, just on the edge of sweet but not; the gnocchi special was pillow perfect; steak frites were solid and the meat cooked exactly right. The best of the night had to be the apple fritter dessert- thank goodness we saved room. The fritters were tiny beignets with apple compote on the side. The whole dish was disconstructed and gorgeous for the eye and palate.
Kudos to Noah for great service. We can't wait to go back.

We have enjoyed good dinners at Columbus Inn previously, but this was an off night. Steakhouse fillets: one cut should not have been served, was small and tough with gristle in middle. They were overcooked and tough. My wife's fillet was dried out and tough. My daughter's crab cake contained shells and could not enjoy. Other two meals were acceptable. High price for only fair quality. Unless get's fixed, not recommended.

The crab cakes tasted a bit fishy and had more filler than I would expect from Columbus Inn. I was dissatisfied that our server combined my salad and crab cake left overs together into one container... completely different flavor profiles. Would have been 2 different meals for me.

I had the loaded smash burger, which I highly recommend. It was very tasty. The fries were just okay. My wife and daughter shared the crab and corn chowder soup, which they both enjoyed. They both had the crab cake, which they felt was rather small and like of bland.

We had cocktails in the bar before our dinner. The bar was hopping, drinks came quickly and the waitress was outstanding. The crab cakes were excellent - a tad peppery for me. The scallops were large, cooked perfectly and delicious. The seared tune nicoise salad was a thing of beauty. The prosciutto was like silk, even though American. Great variety of cheeses. Our waiter Noah was great.

Well, we just returned after having changed our anniversary dinner from Philly to Wilmington. I can assure everyone that we will not EVER make that mistake again.I knew that we were in trouble when the waiter inquired if we wanted our appetizers and main entree served together or separately. Well I ordered tuna , specifically stating the it should be served rare.I must say that it came out rare alright , as a tuna roll!!! It was almost as if he was saying" Is this rare enough for you?" When it finally arrived the tuna was served with french fries and an olive salad. I think that the chef tonight must have been Greek because my wife ordered lamb, served over the same olive salad with french fries with spicy catsup. The lamb was so tough that the steak knife that we had to ASK for was not able to cut the lamb at all. My appetizer was shrimp and crabmeat cocktail that showed up at the table before the entrees as requested but it was warm!!! I sent it back and noticed that the manager made it a point to stay away from our table after visiting almost every table in the dining room to inquire about everyone's dinner except ours. Why??? I spent over $115 for this tonight and must say that this was one of the worst meals ever in Wilmington. I will be in Philly for next years anniversary dinner ....if I am still married!!!!

This was our first visit to the Columbus Inn and I plotted it out pretty carefully by reviewing menu details in advance. We cocktailed with Manhattans (excellent), had a small empanada appetizer, which was delicious and slightly decadent, and then, in a very nicely timed pace, our entrees arrived. My first instinct was to order the Shellfish Cobb salad, which included shrimp, lump crab, and a half lobster. It was better than I'd even expected to be. I'd have it again except there are so many other items on the menu that I want to try. Thinking of going here? Do it.

Good overall restaurant for an evening out to dinner with friends. Lobster, chicken and salmon entrees were enjoyed by all. Food was well prepared and presented. Prices are reasonable.

Suggestions for improvement - The risotto (salmon entree) was glutinous (i.e. sticky). Would have preferred a more creamy dish. Would also welcome a return of the snapper soup to the menu.

Maybe one of the most beautiful restaurants around. The food was delicious. However, the service always leaves something to be desired. This time, our server dropped our check and asked us to pay so she could leave-as she served our desserts. Our entrees also came out while we were eating appetizers. WE weren't in a rush.
