Columbus Inn Ratings and Reviews
Service was prompt. Food was ok, but soulless. They didn’t bring or offer bread or rolls or crackers or anything with our salads. The Caesar salads had croutons that looked like stale pieces of cornbread (too large and tasteless).
It’s a convenient location with plenty of parking, but I won’t go back.
Would have given this 5 stars except for two of the meals. One, the seafood salad was missing the tomatoes, the beans and another ingredient. So a little sparse. The chicken BLT would have been better except chicken cooked too long, and dry. The tuna and the filet mignon sandwich got rave reviews. Desserts were excellent and different from standard menu fare. Service was friendly and prompt, especially considering the waitress had a lot of tables. Also, the noise level was high, too high, and I was surprised to see a TV in the dining room.
Nice wine selection, good service from bar. Service overall was good. We weren't over- demanding, so nothing over the top was needed. No issues at all w/server- she was pleasant and attentive. Food was very good, but not insanely priced. Only drawback for me was having a table on each side of ours within a foot. Hard not to listen to them, and other way, I'm sure.
Wife and I went to Columbus Inn for dinner. Appetizer , soup, entrees we selected were excellent. Unfortunately the dessert, a creme brulee, was very disappointing--was like dessert was from a different restaurant than our first two courses. Wait staff first class.
Haven’t been here in years. One of premier restaurants in the Wilmington. Not any more, at least for a Friday lunch. Their large dining room was empty. Their alternate, smaller dining was busy. Ambience was lovely, fireplace burning. Food was OK. Service was slow. It was quiet enough, since it was a smaller room. Location is good, easy to get to... . Going there depends of what your priorities are.
We went the day before Valentines Day and had the Tasting Menu items (1 soup or salad, 1 entree, and 1 dessert) which was an excellent value. The food was exemplary and very tasty!
HOWEVER, the service was deplorable. Our reservation was for 6:30pm and because of the extremely slow service, we didn't get our check until 9pm. And we were looking for servers to ask for our next tasting menu item! It's too bad, because otherwise, this would be a great place to recommend on account of the delicious food.
The atmosphere was quite lovely with a fire going. Three for lunch celebrating a birthday. We each had the crab cake sandwich with house made chips. Presentation was nice. Food was tasty but the crab cake was very small. Looked lost on the bun once you moved the lettuce and pickle that had been stacked on top. The Manhattan cocktail was excellent.
There was a time when the Columbus Inn was on the top of my list. Not anymore. It is not what it used to be. The last two times I have been there, the service was just mediocre. Both times I had to look for wait staff to take our order. Both times we had to wait too long to get our bill. I will not be going there for a long time I hope it improves.
The restaurant was nice and food was good. When I walked my date to her door my hands were sweating I was so nervous. I kissed her and she turned around and started making gagging sounds, that was embarrassing. The worst part was when I got in my truck, this guy pulls up in a tricked out Volkswagen and she comes out the door and they ride off. I hope she calls.
While the food was very good, we were disappointed with the inattentive service we received. On at least two occasions during our meal our server was nowhere to be found for 15 minute stretches. This occurred at the beginning of the meal just after being seated and letting him know we had only just begun to look at the menu, and again at the end of the meal when we were ready to ask for the check. In past visits we did not have any problems, so this was unexpected and not up to the usual standards we expect from the Columbus Inn.
My friends and I had the perfect brunch! The waitstaff was very helpful and friendly, not overly watchful. We sat next to the fireplace which was perfect on the freezing winter morning we came in. The only downfall was there was so much good food that we weren't able to try because we ate. So. Much.
Guess we have to go back!
Service , Atmosphere and Food were all quite good. I have only one concern. One of our dinners was Prime Rib and although it was done correctly and was tasty. The particular cut received was loaded with fat and in some cases difficult to separate from the meat.
So I would say the overall experience was very good but the difference between that and excellent was the cut of the meat
Went for a date night last week. Arrived a little early and was able to take advantage of the happy hour menu at the bar before our dinner. Cocktails were great, as was the gingersnap brie. Dinner was excellent! The sparerib stroganoff was amazing, and I am not a mushroom lover. Service was wonderful and we are already planning our next visit.
Reservation was made for 4...new years eve 2017. My husband has frequented this establishment on several occasions for business and thus recommended for our annual new years eve dinner with family (from out of state). An hour into our pre dinner drinks, the electricity shuts off..staff continues to play through as if nothing is wrong and the lights come back on....lights off again...staff continue to play through and seat us for dinner. Mind you it is below 20 degrees outside and now the restaurant is getting cold and and lights go out again after the second course. our waitress was very apologetic however she was clueless in how to handle the situation...which was understood. Manager on duty was no where to been seen...Needless to say we ended up leaving and going to another establishment for dinner.
As usual the food never disappoint. 👍🏽Unfortunately the table we were given was near the door so we had to keep our coats on 😑
Drinks were on point! Love my Merry mule
My guests were very appreciative of the meal. Thank you chefs! We had a marvelous waiter
As I said the place NEVER disappoint I LOVE IT My Fav spot
Always delicious. Great atmosphere. Happy hour is a bargain with delicious food and dribk choices. Bartender made me a delicious spicy margarita. Just like i like em! My only complaint is the noise level in the bar area can be very high. Low ceilings and they sometimes play the music too high. Cant hear conversations at times. Overall love this place
Excellent food. Bartending substandard. An Old-Fashion is a staple bar drink. Everyone should know to muddle fruit for this drink. I received sugar water and bourbon. Yuk!! Our waiter was in a big hurry. Next time I will eat at the bar and hope that Zack is there to make my drink!
Service was not good. I do not think I can blame our server for the experience entirely as the restaurant seemed understaffed that night. We waited quite a while for our appetizers and then within 60 seconds someone else from the wait staff placed our entrees on the table. Our server recognized the timing was not good and offered to take our entrees away to keep them warm. As for the quality of the food, the soup (appetizer) was not warm enough and the crab cake entrée was salty.
My husband and I went for our anniversary. The food and drinks were great! The service was good too. We sat on the bar side, which was a little loud but it fit our personality. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes good food, drinks, and a great atmosphere!
