Obviously, a legendary Florida restaurant but the food is delicious and the service is great.
Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City is consistently good for food great seafood, service and value. Reservations are always recommended but especially on the weekends and Holidays.
This is a place with rich history that still delivers excellent food and service. A must try place!!
Our 1:30 reservations was finally seated at 2:05. The service was really slow. They didn't seem to have enough help. The food was really good.
Everything was great however the table for 2 was located by the kitchen and next to the stairs..
Great food as usual.......... great service as well. We did not attend the live show this time but last time we did and it was great.
Third time eating dinner here. Atmosphere, food, and service never fail to please.
The person at check in desk was not very friendly for such a fine establishment. After that our server was excellent and the food was great.
Wonderful ambiance, good service, good food at reasonable prices and lovely decor. We've been coming to this restaurant since the 1960's and it is always a treat. We have been to every Columbia restaurant in Florida and this one and the one at St. Augustine are our favorites.
It was a great experience to visit one of, if not, Tampa’s oldest restaurant.
It was great I am born and raised in Tampa I moved away came back for a visit and brought some friends with me and we had a great time it was just wonderful
The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to offer suggestions and feedback on menu questions.
Was disappointed with the chicken and yellow rice dish. Instead of a half of chicken, my sister and I had two wings and a thigh. The yellow rice was gummy as if it had been warmed over. Our server was great and very attentive to us. Will probably return at some time in the future to try again.
Wonderful restaurant, great location, abundant parking.Food consistent and outstanding. Try to order something different but always end up with the same thing. I guess they know what they are doing since 1905. Waiter was a little rushed and we had to ask for everything several times. We were on a second floor balcony and he complained about having to go up and down stairs. He would wait until he had several tables drink orders before going to the bar. We were there for casual dining with friends so did not mind but took forever to get the check when we were ready to leave. Always a go to restaurant when we have visitors from out of town. No real complaints
The atmosphere at this restaurant is so charming, and wait staff are willing to go the extra mile to make your meal a special event. Sangria and salads mixed right at the table—delicious and gorgeous.
Booking online was very convenient and they phoned to confirm the day prior. We were seated right on time.
Food and Service we’re excellent. Got the classic 1905 salad. The lobster croquettes. For entree got the Paella Valencia. You can’t go wrong with those 3 choices.
If you are going to Ybor City don’t miss this place.
Columbia exceeded my expectations. The food was wonderful. The ambiance was unique and enthralling. The service was exceptional. Overall, it was a lovely experience and I highly recommend it!
Always a great place. Great Cuban/Spanish food. Price is a bit steep for this type of food but very good.
Bottle of wine had a bad cork, clearly stored improperly. Brought it to servers attention and were greeted by a secret service looking bald guy with a headset. Not a super friendly atmosphere. Decent seafood but rice tasted like Chinese food and at four seasons pricing I expected more. Place is simply kitschy nothing more or less. Meh
Good food, a bit too much dressing on the classic salad. Mostly very good service.
Tired of eating inside a big noisy drum that restaurants pretend is "energetic."
We did not go to what appeared to be a fine dining restaurant in order to have to shout at each other through our meal. It doesn't really matter how good the food or service is if we cannot hear each other speak. Open Table misrepresents this condition as "energetic;" we consider it thoughtlessly noisy, and we cross all such restaurants, including this one, off our list; please stop misrepresenting this condition!!
The sound level could have been easily solved if 1) the interior designer had installed the correct ceiling panels with a high NRC rating; and 2) sound absorbing material were placed on the underside of the tables and a few other discreet locations in the dining room. Both are inexpensive solutions that have no visual impact. But increasingly, restaurant managers too lazy to solve this problem delude themselves into thinking this is something that "young people like" so it is okay. It is not okay.
The Food: My gazpacho was wonderful; the white asparagus salad was fine; the roast pork was without flavor and made me think of cafeteria food. The black beans and rice were Sysco grade; I'm used to real Puerto Rican and Cuban food and this was not. The bread pudding was wonderful - maybe the best I've ever had. My wife's caesar salad was no better than diner fair, and she abandoned it. She loved the veal.
The Service: Our gentleman server took a little while to warm up, but when we got him to, we really enjoyed each other. He took care of us well, although he was clearly rushed.
The Restaurant: They're obviously maximizing occupancy at the expense of their diners, but they managed to fill the place. Every five minutes a diner or server brushed up against our table because the aisles are so small.
The interior of the restaurant is spectacular architecturally; it is too bad the experience and the food is not on the same level.
Service was quite good but the food — paella, veal, crema catalana dessert—only fair. First half of the flamenco show was cheesy—done to recorded music! Much brtter after male performer arrived to sing and dance to the beat of hand claps and cajon. Where was the guitarist?
Always a great to go to the Colombia for their 1905 salad and White chocolate Bread Pudding.
We were visiting Tampa on business recently. We had a wonderful meal. We enjoyed the atmosphere, great service and delicious food. The history of Columbia Restaurant is also very interesting and adds to the experience. We will be back.
I have been going to Tampa for the last 16 years for spring training and always make a trip to the Columbia. Mottos, gazpacho, black beans, and Cuban Sandwiches for lunch or marinated pork or red snapper for dinner. The food and service is always impeccable. Only problem is avoiding eating too much Cuban bread and not having room for the flan.
We arrived at 7:55 for an 8:00 reservation. They were slammed. We weren’t seated until 8:30, and sat for 10 minutes before a server approached our table. Once they had a better handle on the crowd, the service was good. Food was excellent, as were the mojitos. 😎
Try the sangria! Great for tapas to share with the table.
Had a party of eight. Made reservation for 6:30am. All member of the part were there but didn't get seated until 6:55. Food quality was not that great as several of my guests commented about the taste. The old cloths my daughter in law ordered could have been eaten with a spoon the dish was so runny. The decor was as expected, old world but overshadowed by touristy "Disney" atmosphere.
Excellent food, service, and setting. Highly recommend. Our only lunch disappointment was a loud and unruly young child in the dining room.
I have never been disappointed with the Columbia restaurant. I have been going for 30 years. The waiter was very professional, polite and attentive. We sat in the open terrace for lunch and had their great 1905 salad, soup and cuban sandwich. Although it was packed, we felt it was very quaint.
Every time I am in Tampa I make sure i get here and I double it up by stopping off for a bite to eat at the airport one on the way home....whatever you do always get the 1905 salad with whatever meal... cant wait to come back.
This restaurant was recommended to us from friends who had been there before and it did not disappoint! Our waiter was the best. His name was Steven and from wine to food, his suggestions were great! We had tapas, and a shrimp dish. The white chocolate bread pudding was truly one of the best desserts we have ever eaten! Definitely will book again if we come back to Tampa.
I have been going to the Columbia in Ybor for over 65 years and I have been to Goody-
Goody, Ulele, And the Columbias in Orlando, Sand Key, Armand Circle and I have enjoyed them all.
With friends from Nashville visiting they wanted to see the dancers. I looked online for show times and made a reservation for 30 min before. When we arrived we were told we couldn't see the dancers because we didn't make a reservation for dancers. I told her there wasn't a separate option for dancers, she said you have to call for dancer reservations. We were all really disappointed. The food & service was excellent...just missing the part of the evening that we went there for
Loved it as always. The bread is a treat in and of itself...and then the food! We have visited each location and have never been disappointed. Just make reservations!
Always a good experience!
The bar and interior is very nice. Drinks were ok.
Our server was very polite. He was managing quite bit and still very professional. The food is avarage. Fideua de Mariscos was smothered with very salty sofrito, maybe even a commercial one. Palomilla steak had quite a bit of gristle, and gave the impression of cooked in a pan as opposed to grilled as the description in the menu. Croquetos de Pollo and Empenadas de Picadillo were just avarage. Nothing crisp or flaky about them. Looks like Colombia has passed it’s prime and riding on the past and present hype.
Awesome service! Had my birthday dinner here. The food is great and they have a great Flamenco show you can attend.
Food was very good. Restaurant was very loud. Service was kind of slow so if you are catching a show at a certain time allow yourself 2 hours during busy periods such as weekends. Cuisine definitely worth going there.
