Columbia Restaurant - Ybor City
The food is always delicious! The service was impeccable!
Have been eating at this restaurant for 45 years. The food last Saturday night was probably the best meal I ever had there. The place was mobbed with cruise ship tourists. The staff was extra courteous to everyone. Waiter was outstanding. Food awesome. I am guessing that much of the tourist traffic comes away enchanted by everything about this restaurant. What great ambassadors for Tampa!!
Overall decent experience. We went for the dinner and the show. Felt rushed during dinner. (6:30 reservation for 7 pm show.) Food came within seconds of our salads, so no time to really enjoy the salads... Entrees were cold.
Renee was So helpful. It was my daughters birthday celebration and We had not made a reservation for the show in error and despite being a large party he made sure that we were able to see the show and had the singer sing my daughter happy birthday. Fantastic!
after waiting 10 minutes to get to a seat when reservations was done , we were seated for our anniversary and just sat there after another 10-15 minutes . Ashley came over from another table and helped us. Manager came over apologizing about a sever seating chart. My wife rice was under cooked and my rice had bits of burnt rice all over. Manager tried to make it ok with dessert but I do not think it was enough. Bottom line our special moment was ruin . I had a series of things I was going to do with my wife there starting with a poem but that moment is gone. I am very very disappointed . I think highly of your restaurant but now?
This was our first time at the Columbia and we will most certainly be back. The atmosphere was fantastic, the service (John) was great and the food was absolutely amazing. We’re looking forward to our next visit.
Good, tasty food with great ambiance.
The show is definitely worth the money!
As usual this restaurant never fails to impress!
We just moved to Ssrasota, FL and had no second thoughts about the hour plus drive to get here! Even brought visiting friends from out of state here tonight.
Food is always on point and authentic. Love the history and the ambience of the building.
My grievance tonight was the the service. Hopefully a one time fluke.
Emily was very friendly and knowledgeable, but her timing was definitely off. Granted she was very patient with us because as I said we brought in new guests with us and it took them to make some decisions about their dinners, but we were barely half way through our salads and appetizer course and got bombarded with dinners! You could see how uncomfortable the poor person who brought the food to our table was! We had to ask for water refills a couple of times and lastly with the desert course, our bread pudding come out quickly, waited another 5 mins for two ports another five mins for a coffee specialty drink and then forgot a double espresso. We had two ask her twice for it.
As I said she was friendly and well intentioned but the execution definitely missed the mark.
Always a wonderful experience. Service and food are consistently excellent.
Nice restaurant with great food x love the cava sangría and paella valenciana
Great show and good food. Bartender and waiters were excellent.
Loved the experience and the food. Our pitcher of mojito was watered down but the Sangria was perfect. The tapas were great (we had a big group and tried four of them) and our meals were unique and delicious. The dessert proved to be the only disappointment but we really didn’t need it anyway - the meal was perfect without it!
The grouper and crab meat was incredible!
Our waitress, Carol, tended to our every need to make our anniversary celebration so special. We upgraded with show tickets, something we had always talked of doing. Carol even brought us complimentary flan that we enjoyed with cafe con leche. It was a wonderful evening.
Service and food were exceptional. We were seated next to two large noisy groups which made conversation difficult.
Food is always delicious. Service always outstanding. A customer since 1948.
For what you are paying you’d expect to get a better meal and better service. Our appetizer was a “queso fundido” which is a melted cheese and tomato sauce dip with crostini. The cheese was not melted at all. It’s as if it were placed in the oven for 2 minutes and brought our or it sat on the counter for quite some time waiting to be brought out to the table. My dinner entree was cold. I ordered the white rice with black beans beef round stuffed with chorizo with a gravy and it was cold to the touch and I had to send it back. Upon getting a new plate it was warm not hot but I didn’t want to complain again so I tried to eat it. Little did I know the gravy on the beef was overt reduced making it too salty to eat. I had to cut the 2 sweet plantain chunks into little pieces in order to counter the saltiness. Needless to say I was not able to eat my dinner. Our waiter was not personable at all. Did not make us fee welcome at all and after bringing us our food we sat there with empty drinks for over 25 minutes. Was he spread too thin? Maybe, was he having a bad day? Perhaps. I had to ask for a refill on our cokes and then we ordered desserts. My wife ordered the flan which is their specialty and I ordered the white chocolate bread pudding. I consider myself a flan connoisseur and this flan was a 2 on a scale of 1 to 5. Although it had good texture the flavor was weak. The white chocolate bread pudding was amazing. I give credit where credit is due. That dessert was great. Unfortunately it was not enough to make us feel like the money spent was worth the trouble we dealt with on this evening. We planned our vacation around going here to have an amazing meal and enjoy the flamenco show. Sorry to say it did not deliver
Excellent service and food was fantastic! The dining room was loud, but otherwise a great dinner.
We had reserved the dinner and show option, it was the best decision we made that day. Truly great experience. I had the rib eye and it was one of the best prepared meals I had in Tampa. The show was outstanding! If you are in Ybor section in Tampa, do yourself a favor and go to Columbia Restaurant. It will be the best decision you make also!
Restaurant was extremely dirty, we went to celebrate my mom’s birthday and left as soon we sat on those chairs. There was food on the floors everywhere. Will not be coming back!
Wonderful entree, but for some reason the 1905 salad was slightly off but still good.
Great place to celebrate special occasions or simply to have dinner with family and friends from out of town!
I have been going to the Columbia since I was 8 and I have until now always been pleased. My son sends me gift cards from time to time. Reservations at 7:30 sat at 7:29 perfect. Received entrée at 9:15. Way to long. Salad was on time and so was appetizer but service was poor. To spend $165.00 for 3 and not have better service is unforgivable skipped the coffee and flan because too upset.
We had an excellent meal, and our server, Dennis, made it very special. Though very busy, he made the time to be very kind and personable
The restaurant is great! The history just adds to the wonderful food
We will be back!
Even though very busy with reservations we went right in and had excellent seats. They have a flamingo dance at 19:30 almost every night. The food was excellent. If you get certain items it takes much longer but worth the wait. My wife loved the sangria (red). My son had steak and fries. He liked them very much.
Vacation with my wife and heard that Columbia restaurant was the place to dine
You're treated like royalty. The food was great. I was really impressed and please with my overall experience.
This is a Tampa gem! It is famous for a reason. The food is impeccable and unlike anything else In the area. The restaurant is beautiful. Get the white chocolate bread pudding for dessert. Just do it.
I've been to the Columbia many times, and I always look forward to going back again! The food never disappoints...it's amazing! Our server was great - very friendly and did a great job of taking care of us.
My wife and I wonderful anniversary dinner with the added bonus of watching the Flamenco dancers. The food and desserts were outstanding and our waiter was friendly and courteous. Will definitely be coming back in the future!
Both the food and service was great. I had been before for business dinners, but this time I brought my family and they loved it.
We always enjoy dining at the Columbia. The staff always makes you feel at home whether you’re sitting in the dining room or just having dinner at the bar. And of course it’s our go to for 1905 salad and a great bottle of wine at a good price.
Great experience. Lots of food, left feeling quite full but that’s a good sign. Palomilla steak was good. Sangria was tasty. Flan and café con leche was decadent.
Food was great as usual but some items were delivered barely warm and uncovered
Wonderful food and excellent wait staff who provided fantastic recommendations.
Another waiter brought our dinner entrees out on a tray and left on a jack, right next to our table. After five minutes with no visual on our server, I had to serve the food to our table!! Horrible. Other than that the food was terrific.
Reservation at 4, seated at 4:45 pm.
Lobby was very warm and staff uninformative
Staff has matter of fact attitude as crowd waited all with reservations upset cause had to wait so long.
Server was ok. She wasn’t friendly.
I had mussels and they were great!
Crab croquettes were not good and burnt
Key lime pie was very tasty. It was very noisy in area we sat. I had a good time although I expected food to be better and the experience to
Be more enjoyable.
Been going to Columbia for many years. The food is sublime however I noticed a difference in the staff at lunch versus dinner. Less attentive.
