Predictably good experience.
We had an excellent meal starting with tapas and ending with a shared dessert. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the service was outstanding! We did make advanced reservations which is highly recommended because the wait time was lengthy if you had no reservation. Come prepared to spend at least an hour or two to enjoy a wonderful evening of unique foods and excellent service. The only small downside is that the noise level is a bit energetic on the first floor. If you want a more romantic or intimate dining experience, be sure and ask for an upstairs seating option.
Everything about the Columbia was enjoyable. Our waiter was attentive and excellent and gave us terrific suggestions for the meal. The portions were generous and the food freshly cooked and delicious. The setting is relaxing and makes you want to linger a while. It was a very special place for our special occasion!
Excellent experience. We stopped for lunch on a trip and were pleasantly surprised by an excellent meal and excellent service. We’ll stop again...
We have visited several times, keep coming back. Love this place and the neat history. Must try the Sangria.
Delicious food. Beautiful setting. Would definitely return
On our vacation to Orlando doing the Disney thing, we knew we also wanted to get a return visit in to beautiful St. Augustine. This restaurant was recommended by a friend who used to live several miles away. It was everything (and more) he said it would be. Beautiful restaurant. Great history. Delicious food. And the service impeccable. Did I mention delicious food? We were not disappointed and in fact it was truly the highlight of our entire trip. I’m just disappointed that we live so far away (other side of the country) to come to this beautiful restaurant more often. I highly recommend Columbia Restaurant when you visit St. Augustine.
We dined at Columbia on the high recommendation of friends who go there every time they travel to St Augustine. We were not disappointed but need to add that the experience was not exactly exquisite. Both our fish dishes were tasty and plentiful. Flan was delicious.
Incredible meal, excellent service and an overall delightful experience.
This was my third trip to dine at the Columbia Restaurant in St Aug. We were seated upstairs and I was disappointed by the ambiance there. Our server was excellent. She prepared our 1908 salad table side. I had enjoyed this salad in a previous visit. This time it was quite soggy only moments after it was served. Too Bad
My mother and I were in town for a belated Mother’s day “girl’s trip” and were recommended Columbia Restaurant by a friend. We had a wonderful evening here! The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. The Sangria is an absolute must have! Also, ask for Carlos as your server because he was delightful!
The meal was fantastic. We started with 1905 salads, enjoyed paella, and indulged in flan and churros. Our server, Carlos, was attentive and knowledgeable. Service was prompt. Sangria was top notch!
My wife and I spent our anniversary touring St. Augustine. After a long day of touring and enjoying the sites we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Columbia. The food was great.
We made reservations at Columbia for 8pm. Started by ordering two iced teas and two beers. 15 minutes later we received two waters... server apologized for the delay in our beers and then 5min later we received our iced teas. We assumed our beers were on their way, so we ordered our appetizers and entrees. When we inquired about our beers we were told the bar was delayed due to a “banquet”. Shortly thereafter our beers arrived and were told once again that the kitchen and bar were running long due to this banquet, despite the restaurant being fairly empty. At this point I figured might as well order another beer since the wait was so long. About 30min into being seated our appetizer arrived. 1hr and 5min into being seated our entrees arrived and our server asked if we needed additional drinks (same drinks we had ordered 30min prior). There was no point in ordering dessert, unless we wanted to wait another hour.
Overall food was ok, atmosphere was nice, but service and overall experience were lacking.
Server was friendly and helpful. Entrees were moderately priced. Plentiful gluten free options and even a separate GF menu. I ordered the pork and my husband ordered a combo. The food was nothing spectacular, and honestly I was a bit disappointed. For all the rave reviews this restaurant gets, the food did not live up to my expectations. Especially because some folks wait hours to get a table. Not worth it in my opinion. There are other dining options in St. Augustine.
Love the 1905 salad with bowl of black bean soup. Our regular meal every visit. Quality food and service. Noise level can be a little high but does not keep us going back
Excellent food, superb waitress (Taylor), great menu!
Excellent food, wine and Taia was awesome!
Food is good (2nd time here). Really enjoyed the empanadas appetizer. Main dishes (stuffed shrimp was good; chicken and shrimp dish seemed to have more chicken than shrimp but it was good). Also had scallops appetizer that was only so-so. Huge disappointment and frustration with service. Very very slow and exceptionally inattentive. Worst I've seen anywhere in years. Took over 5 minutes for waiter to welcome us. We had to request bread (after seeing everyone getting theirs). Ordered a second glass of wine when he brought entree-he didn't bring it until he came to clear the dinner plate. Told him didn't want it now. He just took it and didn't say anything. He seemed to be really friendly with the other 2 tables while ignoring us and being surly with us (there were only 6 tables in our area; not busy as it was a Monday night). We asked for more bread (it is good) but he never brought it. Had put it in the reservation if was a birthday and mentioned it when he first came to the table. He never acknowledged it (don't really care about the free cake just would have been nice for someone to have said something.) We were so frustrated at the end we quickly paid and left (had planned to have desert and coffee and then buy something in their shop). Overall, even though food was good, service was so awful I would not return or visit any other location.
The food was AWFUL - calamari was described a `lightly fried`- it was thick with greasy batter. The paella was worse - totally tasteless, chicken and shrimp were so overcooked they were like leather and the rice was mush. No apology from the manager or concession on the bill.
We are from the Tampa area and have always loved The Colombia, Goody Goody, and Ulele. The Colombia in St.Augustine, however, did not live up to the high standards the owners intended unfortunately. The Sangria was extremely watered down, my husband’s mahi was very fishy tasting, the 1905 salad, which we were really looking forward to, was way overdressed, and our friends didn’t think their meal was very good either. I did enjoy my Cuban and Spanish Bean soup though. The atmosphere was lovely.
Amazing ambience for a relaxing and exotic evening that faired very well for a mother's day dinner. Phenominal experience!
Our table was ready right away and our server came over immediately to greet us and get our drink order. We then were given hot bread and soft butter. Wonderful combination. The shrimp appetizer and 1905 salad were quite delicious. All four entrees were excellent! We always go to The Columbia whenever we are in St. Augustine. Highly recommended!
If visiting St. Augustine and want an upscale Spanish &/or seafood experience, do not pass the restaurant by. Absolutely wonderful.
Visiting St. Augustine, we just had to try Columbia for the paella. We weren't disappointed. Great calamari for an appetizer, which we shared. The Spanish bean soup was good, and we shared the paella a la Valenciana, which was large enough for two to share. Also had a nice key lime pie for dessert. All in all, a very satisfying meal and a great value. We liked it so much that we went back the next day for lunch.
Delicious food and Sangria. Attentive service.
Food was great. Service was excellent. I love the ambiance. The only complaint I have is that we had a large group and hey sat us at a table in a high traffic area and my moms chair kept getting bumped all night. Other than that the night was great. The cocktails we ordered were made well and the server was so fast.
Serve and food is fantastic . The 1905 salad is our favorite. Purchased the cookbook so we can make the salad at home
Excellent as usual!
This restaurant is a family favorite. The food is flavorful and the service is always top notch. I try to get something different every time I go and am never disappointed. We went for Mother's Day this year and it was a real pleasure.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in St. Augustine. The environment reflects the the charm of the city and embraces the ambiance of Cuban culture. The menu is well designed with unique plates and tapas that please nearly everyone. The sangria made at the table, tremendous selection of seafood and the attentive wait staff make this a great choice for special occasions.
Great dining experience for Mother’s Day lunch. The reception staff were courteous and engaging; we were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation time. Each meal was fresh and expertly prepared; our server, June, was outstanding, and the ambiance was perfect. We could not have selected a better location for that special celebration.
Recommend you make reservations prior to your dining experience. The atmosphere was excellent. The service was over the top and the food was prepared with love for fine food. Parking could be a problem, especially on weekends or special occasions. P Lease forward to Carlos our Thanks for his attention to detail and great customer attentiveness.
Good value for service
Reservation was easy and great seats. Went for a after proposal dinner and was served very well. Great Cuban bread and Columbian style food!
The service was excellent. Fresh bread and butter was brought to the table. I had the gazpacho and the traditional paella, plus a pitcher of very excellent white Cava sangria (mixed at the table!) The gazpacho was very good. The paella was fresh and plentiful - my only complaint is that it was overly salty. A very nice evening out.
We always dine at Columbia at least once during our stay. Love the 1905 salad and Cuban black bean soup. Never disappointed. Thank you for Open Table
Made reservations but had to wait 20 minutes... food is good.. sever was fair. Like the Tampa location better.. front desk was a bit distracted and not very friendly.
The service was amazing and the food was good as well.
