Columbia Restaurant - St. Augustine Ratings and Reviews
The food is delicious. The restaurant is beautiful. The service is slow. It took almost 15 minutes just to get drinks. The waiter was very busy between tables and had a large group in addition to several smaller tables around us. Make sure you allot lots of time for your meal, and enjoy the beauty of the restaurant.
We had a rare date night and just love Columbia. The staff is always knowledgeable and proficient in their service making the dining experience enjoyable. The food is always exceptionally good and the sangria is just amazing! We save this restaurant for our special dining occasions and we have not been disappointed.
Really wanted to like this place. Cool ambiance. House salad was quite good. Then it went downhill. Mains and drinks took forever. Server appeared inordinately distracted with other tables. To the point when seafood mains were delivered they were cold. Refused them. Manager offered to comp so that’s where we ended our meal.
The food was wonderful, but unfortunately the restaurant fell short on providing any special extra loving care for where we chose to celebrate our milestone 25th Anniversary! We traveled from out of town and made reservations a month ahead of time, requesting a quiet romantic table and instead were seated in the bar area. No mention after that was ever made about our very special day, even though my husband made a POINT to advise the staff of the occasion. Honestly, they made a bigger fuss last year at a common chain restaurant in our area. :-(
My first visit to the Columbia Restaurant was over 30 years ago. I remembered the meal, more than the company at the time. I went back this weekend, finally, and it was totally worth the wait. Food, drinks, atmosphere, service.......all outstanding!! I'll be back before another 30 years passes!
Everything was perfect for us from the moment we walked in! We had reservations (recommend them) and were seated within 3 minutes. Our server, Natalie, I think, was very personable and efficient. Empanadas were wonderful! Paella was excellent! Pompano Piquan was good - just a little dry - but good.
Highly recommend Columbia!
I've wanted to go for years and finally went for lunch on a Sunday. Incredibly well trained and efficient staff. Friendly and accommodating and very helpful if you had questions.
High level of service and the food was just as I was expecting - and even better!
We always come here whether we are in St. Augustine or Tampa. The 1905 salad is always fresh and delicious. The sangria is always good too. The Cuban bread is warm and yummy. We tried a ham and cheese daily special and were a little disappointed but it wont stop us from returning.
Every year on our drive from Michigan to Orlando we meet up with former neighbors that have moved to Jacksonville at Columbia. We love it. It has become a tradition and look forward to it every year. We always order the same thing, of course the 1905 salad and sandwich and sangria. Once we are in Orlando area, we go to Columbia in Celebration a few times during our stay. Love it!
Outstanding food, large variety on menu, excellent service, MAKE a RESERVATION! We ate at this restaurant two days in a row! Our new favorite place for lunch or dinner. Salads are fantastic and tapas hard to beat anywhere in St. Augustine. DO NOT miss this experience!
This place is great! We went twice and both times the food and service was excellent. The feel of the restaurant ties in with the old world feel of St. Agustine well and it is a definite stop for us when we are there. We really love the 1905 salad and highly recommend it! Sangria was excellent as well and both are made tableside for some fun flare.
Our waitress, Kelsey, took at least seven to eight minutes before she even greeted our table to take drink orders. I asked for no lemon in my tea, and she came back with lemon in it. Since it took so long to get the drinks, to begin with, I didn't even bother to ask to get a replacement. It looks like she only had three tables in her section which were two four tops, and our two top. Don't really know what the hold up was.
Although the food was good, it wasn't as good as our usual Sand Key location or Ybor. The palomilla was too tenderized so it tasted drier than usual. At least the Good Rice was exceptional, so that made up for the dry steak.
We've had our anniversary at a Columbia Restaurant since 2009, and this is the first year we've ever been disappointed by the service and quality of food. I guess that's what happens when you mix things up and go to a different location.
We had a reservation, and were seated promptly. We then waited 15 minutes before a waitress ever came to the table. She took our drink orders and then was obviously annoyed when one member of our party(never ate at this restaurant before, and unfamiliar with the dishes) took longer to decide what he wanted . After placing our order, it took exactly another hour before we received our food. We never complained, nor did we receive an apology for it taking so long. We ordered two grouper, one pallamillo steak and a Cuban-none of which take a hour to prepare. The grouper was over cooked, but we did not complain. We ordered one flan , when asked if we wanted dessert. We had just paid our tab and were preparing to leave when the waitress approached our table and very rudely said"We need you to leave now, we have a big group that needs this table".!!
We have frequented your restaurant over the past five years, as our daughter was attending Flagler. We will not be back. Never, in all of our travels have we ever been treated with so much rudeness in a restaurant.
Always eat at this restaurant when we are in Saint Augustine. Never disappointed. Sarah our waitress was unbelievable really made an impression on friends of ours that we took here that have never been here. Thank you Sarah.
