Columbia Restaurant - St. Augustine Ratings and Reviews
We were in town for a special exhibit at the Lightner Museum. We ate lunch first at the Columbia. Parking in St. Augustine is challenging. We parked in the Columbia lot. First two hours fee if you eat there, or pay $10 and stay parked there as long as you want. We stayed there until evening. We got there a little later than planned because of traffic, etc. Our table was still available and the service was very speedy. The food was excellent. Hope to return!!
I’ve been going to this restaurant for 20 years but this was the first time I’ve had a bad meal. Reservations for a group of 8 @ 7:30p. Got food at 9p. Steak overcooked and shoe leather - sent back. Cuban sandwich lacked flavor. Freezing cold in room we were sat in. Overpriced for what we got
My fiancé and I dined here as we are new locals and had never been. We found the ambience to be perfect; the lights were dimmed making it fit for romance. I enjoyed the stuffed shrimp but he did not enjoy his steak so much unfortunately stating it had very little flavor. However he enjoyed the location and coziness of the restaurant. He stated he would recommend it for my parents as it seems fit for them.
I have wanted to come to the Columbia for years. We own 3 seafood restaurants in Orlando and love trying other family owned restaurants. Here was my take: Hostess was prompt and quick but not friendly. Waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, able to read the table and in control of her station. Bus boy was fast, friendly, and clean. Food was exceptional except my wife's pompano was way overcooked. When my wife told our waitress (I think Amanda) about the pompano, she immediately took care of the issue in a satisfactory way. We will be back. Loved our wine - loved the service - loved the ambience - loved all the food but the pompano
This restaurant was recommended by close friends. They had even told us what to order. I was not disappointed. The food was delicious. The ambiance was beyond compare. I am definitely glad that this was our last restaurant to eat at while in the area. I would have compared this restaurant to any other we ate at. Our waiter, was thoughtful and understood what dishes our friends had recommended. His timing and manors were prefect. The 1905 salad was delicious with so many daring flavors that made the dish tasty. Our main yummy dishes were stuffed shrimp and a delicious fish cooked over potatoes, tomatoes and onions. The flan was delicious and melted on my tongue. Perfect with espresso coffee. Everyone was polite with smiles and had warm wishes for us. The gift shop was well stocked with any pottery for any kitchen to add a splash of fun and all different patterns. I love this place. I would be in trouble if I lived close. I would eat here very often like weekly or maybe daily.
The Columbia restaurant is my absolute favorite restaurant. The drinks and food are always delectable. The servers are extremely helpful/knowledgeable and the ambiance is truly authentic. No matter what the occasion - from dinner for two or wedding receptions, I highly recommend it.
We have been here before, but not for many years and it was just as we remembered! Expensive! My husband ordered the grilled salmon & I ordered the grilled grouper. Both portions were very large and delicious. We also ordered the calamari which was good, but we do not like the tentacles and there were a lot of them. We easily could have gotten by with the appetizer and the salad. The 1905 Salad is so simple, yet so delicious! Everything was great including the glass of sangria we each had. We will be back again I'm sure!
Made reservations for our first anniversary. We immediately were seated in a nice cove location. We order a bottle of wine and ordered our meals. Both of our dinners arrived cold. Not even warm! I received the wrong steak, similar but not the $36 dollar filet that I ordered. Told one of the servers it was not the plate I ordered. TWO MINUTES LATER, it was brought back to me with the mushroom sauce on top and she flambe'd it. The filet I ordered was with mashed potatoes and spinach, which I didn't receive.
I believe these steaks are precooked to rare, medium, and well. They have seating for 400 people . The Sat. Night we went there was a 45 minute wait for people without a reservation.
We will NOT return.
We were excited about the menu options and our lovely server and hostess made us feel very comfortable. It was very noisy due to a large celebration next to our table. The restaurant was busy and unfortunately our food arrived barely warm. It had taken a long time to be served and at that point we didn’t want to wait for our food to be reheated. So we left disappointed
I was torn with this review because in the past we have had great dining experiences here. This last time the service was very slow ( long time to order and she disappeared for long periods of time) and all the dishes were unusually salty. I had requested a table in a quiet, romantic area and this request was fulfilled (maybe that is why we were somewhat forgotten). Ambience is wonderful, it is a beautiful restaurant.
