About Columbia Restaurant - Sarasota

Family-owned and operated for more than 112 years, Columbia has earned acclaim for its old-world charm and award-winning Spanish/Cuban cuisine.

Casual attire is fine, but we don’t allow sleeveless shirts on men.

Join us for century-old family recipes like Paella "a la Valenciana," Filet Mignon "Columbia," and fresh seafood specialties. Don’t miss Columbia’s Original “1905” Salad®, prepared tableside with our delicious, freshly-made dressing, a 100-year-old family recipe of fresh garlic, oregano, wine vinegar and Spanish extra virgin olive oil.

Be sure to sample a fine Spanish wine like Montecillo or Campillo. Relax outdoors on our patio, or inside our Mediterranean-style dining rooms filled with hand-painted tiles and family heirlooms.

We are a sister to the Columbia in Tampa's Ybor City, founded in 1905. Children's menu available. Open 365-days a year, including all holidays.

Absolutely the best Ropa/black beans I've had. We shared the 1943 salad which was just right to start us off. Service was excellent, and the Cuban bread was the real deal.
Hope we can get back soon.

This restaurant never fails to be 10 GOLD STARS.
I travel almost 2 hours to eat there as often as I can and it's worth the trip every time.
I only wish they had a location in or nearer to Fort Myers, FL.
Someday maybe!!!

This is our go to brunch for Social Milestones like birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
The service is excellent and very attentive.
There sangria is their own special recipe and it is absolutely amazing!
The menu has so many great items and their paella is incredible!
They’re reporting Dessert is extraordinary! Great place especially for special occasions!

The ropa vieja (cuban dish) was poorly elaborated, not at all as it should be. Dessert (flan) same thing, not as great as it used to be long time ago. Water is undrinkable, I doubt Columbia Restaurant has not enough resources to serve you drinkable water not something that tastes like gas on it. Not all of us likes sugary and unhealthy drinks!

Food was just barely okay. 1905 salad had way too much dressing and was mostly just iceberg lettuce. Rice was sticky and cool. High noise level and service was slow on a not very busy night. Thanks but no thanks.

Always a pleasure to go to the Columbia. However, it seems this time they skimped on ham in the 1905 salad and the mojitos
tasted different. Prefer the previous lime juice to the newer concoction.

We've been before, and this time we took out-of-town guests who loved the place and the cuisine. I've never been disappointed at Columbia and will keep it on my list of regular places in Sarasota to go for a meal.

Ate lunch here with family. Lovely open air seating with bustling St Armand’s atmosphere. Second time at this location, and food was delicious again. Recommend the Cuban black bean soup and Cuban sandwich. Churros for dessert do not disappoint! Service was helpful and friendly.

Great location on St. Armond's Circle in Sarasota, Fl. Famous for their 1905 salad, with a delicious salad dressing, and their black bean soup. The menu is very heavy into Cuban food, but has something for everyone.

We enjoyed this restaurant! Our server, Jorge's, was exceptional, as was the food. Something a little different, but also a varied menu that pleases everyone. We chose to eat their a second night, trying different entrees, and it was another fabulous dinner!

We have been visiting the Columbia Restaurant once a year for the past few years to meet some friends for lunch. It is worth the drive from Bonita Springs. The varied menu, ambiance, and delicious food brings us back every time.

our waitress was inattentive and appeared distracted and unfocused. the best thing she did all night was run out to the street to return my credit card, which i left at the table by accident. If that's the best i can say about the service, something is wrong here.

The best bread ever and love the salad. Haven’t found any other food I’m in love with. However, the server was so friendly talking to us about his football trips and our sports likes. The hostess who called herself a customer service employee asked if she could hold and walk with our 7 mo twin who was being fussy. She was so friendly and helpful. Wonderful employees!!!

I had some very nice meals at Columbia but this was not one of them. I went on New Year’s Day and the food was subpar. The fish dishes were over cooked and the side veg tasted like leftovers. The Spanish rice was sticky and dense. Service was strained and not friendly. I think I’ll avoid Columbia during the holidays and may try other restaurants.
