A great place for a romantic dinner, lunch. Food was fresh and hot out of the oven. A little noisy but I enjoyed the bustle! Delicious sangria and fresh seafood.
I am disappointed after several visits over the years: we had a reservation, yet we waited over 20 minutes beyond our reserved time even though our eventual table had been vacant for some time; the delicious pulpo and potato appetizer is no longer available; there were no anchovy fillets to add to a Caesar Salad; and our server was excellent but arrival of our orders was slow (which our server apologized for). Uncertain if we will return.
Our table staff was outstanding. Sadly, we had a reservation at 7p. We arrived at 6:54 and at 7:40 were still waiting to be seated. They were telling wall ups that it would be 30 min to get a table and, with a reservation it took almost an hour. And, no - we were not specific on table location- we said “first available.
Great night out, very happy with OpenTable !!! We arrived on time and were seated immediately. Very crowded with people waiting. A little noisy but the food and drinks were excellent. Bread for everyone, salads, black bean soup, shrimp both stuffed with shrimp and baked with bacon....all delicious. Plenty of vegetables, everything was good. Drinks, mixed at our table were out standing as were the daiquiris we had. Fun time with good food.
Once we take our guests to Columbia, they always request this restaurant. Great sangria, the 1905 salad and the bread! A;ways excellent service.
Waiter was great and food excellent. Busy and noisy at lunchtime, but worth it
Service was excellent. Food was good. Tables are much, much too close together. It is difficult to get between the tables without bumping into someone. Noise level is too high. It seemed as if more tables were added and it was not a fun experience. We have visited this location several times, but this is probably our last.
THE BEST SALAD! TRY THE 1905 WITH TURKEY IT WAS DELICIOUS. THE TAPAS ARE GREAT ESPECIALLY THE SCALLOPS.
I have been there two times in the last two weeks. Both times the food was delicious. I am going to say that my latest visit was made so much better by the outstanding service we received. Thank you, Nicoletta, for making our experience so much more pleasurable. The gentleman who waited on us previously needs to take notes!
The 1905 salad is delicious, the bread fantastic and the service is impeccable. Would highly recommend.
The restaurant is good located with a Good service, regular food. Medium price
Worst service ever! Mahi was so dry it was inedible. Our server said it was kept under the warmer too long..so why did she serve it???? Love the Columbia in Ybor City. Big disappointment.
We’ve been there before. Always busy this time of year. Food is good. Took a while to get the cava sangria served. The tables and chairs are very close together. I guess that’s the price of success.
This was not a good evening as the meal took an hour to be served at which point the food was average at best. Very disappointing for this establishment as it usually is very good but not this night.
The waiter was a little disconnected and did not seem to really care about serving us or checking in. Most of the tapas were fried - which was disappointing and the descriptions in the menu did not always note this. It’s lovely sitting outside on the Circle. The tables are quite close together- uncomfortably so as it is hard to get in and out of the chairs and people constantly bump you.
Wonderful experience! The service is top-notch and the food is always delicious. You cannot go wrong!!!
Very good day for get together at entertaining place
Consistent and unique. The best menu and service.
I've been there before. Good is great . Great ambiance. They are always very busy so make reservations. The waiter was ok ..he was friendly and nice but very rushed. Good came out like you were on an assembly line, I'm sure to accommodate as many diners each day as possible bit no opportunity to enjoy the meal. And the waiter dropped.silverware in the middle of our table for desserts..The. When we paid dropped the check off without even a thank you. He actually leaned over from another table rhat had asked him a question to drop it on our table. Additionally I put in the reservations that it was a bday but no mention was made of it whatsoever. Disappointed since it was my fiancé 50th bday dinner.
Had an outstanding dinner on a special date. Our waitress was knowledgeable, efficient and extremely pleasant. Highly recommend the 1905 salad and the red sangria - both prepared tableside...
Service was great. Food was awesome as always. We’ll definitely be returning
Restaurant was quite full, we arrived early and were seated anyway. Food was good, sandwich could’ve been hotter. Salad was excellent as always. The last two times we visited the diet cokes were watered down enough to see through them and we had to ask them to fix the soda lines. It seems the servers should be able to notice this prior to serving them. Overall very good visit.
The food was wonderful! Will definitely go back.
This is a bustling location in the heart of St. Armand's Circle in Sarasota, Florida. I have also eaten at their other locations. This review is for St. Armand's on March 17, 2018.
Table for 6 guests. We had reservations at 7 pm and arrived early. They were able to seat us early, which was great. You do have to pay attention to your name being called, which can be difficult since the reception area gets crowded. There are no beepers to let you know when your table is ready.
This place gets really busy as it has an amazing location. The wait staff really hustles and you rarely wait for anything. On this night, we were rushed to order and eat. Dessert was served while some were still eating their entrée, which provided for an awkward situation.
Our waiter had no personality and always seemed to be looking elsewhere. On other visits, I have had great waiters. But, this was a poor experience. The house salad is amazing and it is mixed tableside, which is normally a great show. But, our waiter set up away from us and had no interest in interacting. He might as well have made it in the kitchen.
I had the salad with shrimp as my meal. The shrimp were not fully shelled. At $31, you'd think they'd get that right. The salad itself was delicious. Others in our group had issues with their chicken in a multi-meat dish. But, the portions were large enough to eat around the chicken.
We're a pretty easy crowd to please. So, it's unusual for us to have a poor experience. But, most of it was the waiter. We'll certainly go back.
Definitely St.Armands best restaurant. We loved the authentic Cuban food. It’s a must try!
I saw some rough reviews about the reservations, etc. I was totally impressed with the food, service, and ambiance. It was loud and you are placed right next to each other, but that is the style of restaurant.
Never a bad experience at the Columbia. It’s always a little loud, but the food is outstanding and it’s just the happiest energy.
Rushed. Server appeared to be hurried.
Always good food for any occasion.
Excellent location in St. Armand's Circle with terrific and authentic tasting Spanish food. Great variety of tapas as well as dinners.
my memory of elegant male waiters in long aprons, giving superb service was underwhelmed by this last visit. The restaurant is over run with sloppy tourists and a maitre d who was so stressed she couldn't even make eye contact. The ambiance is tired and needs updating. The wine list is pathetic. The food was just OK.
The Bread and black beans were terrific. And the waiters giving our guest a birthday cupcake was very nice.
Columbia is always good. Delicious Sangria, Great salad and wonderful entrees. We had a party of 5 and all had a great experience.
We brought two first timers and boy were they impressed! Service was excellent despite the place being full. The sparkling sangria prepared table side was delicious as were all four different entrees (pork, shrimp, beef, and surf and turf. Thanks, Columbia!
Food was well appointed, enjoyed.
Tables too close together, way too loud!
Service left much to be desired.
Came from New Port Richey for “Ladies Night” at St. Armand’s Circle, Columbia was the choice for four of us, 1905 is always a favorite, delicious!
My favorite place to dine in Sarasota! I took two friends who have never been and they loved it!
fantastic food. Service was good, but was very busy when we were there.
very busy all the time. A very large open air seating restaurant. Loud because of he size but
decent cuban food
waited a long time for our change but besides that everything was great. would go back anytime i’m in sarasota
Columbia is a perfect example of industrialized fine dining. The term itself is an oxymoron and is displayed well here. While it is relatively fine dining, it was much too crowded and disconnected. It is very hard to have a comfortable conversation there as they have tried to squeeze as many tables and chairs in as physically possible, making the servers move guests’ chairs out of their way to get where they needed to. They also over book to say the least, we personally had to wait almost a half hour for a table to be ready for our 8pm reservation.
