Food was great- definitely recommend the 1905 salad. Also the sangria is to die for. Service was also on point
One of my favorite restaurants in Sarasota!
The worst experience ever! We live here locally and have eaten here numerous times. We brought 2 business associates with us here for lunch. My Cuban sandwich came COLD & SMALL! The other 2 Cubans were warm & larger proportions! I told the waiter, after having to waive him down. 15 minutes later, he takes it & heats it back up! My same sandwich! DID THEY USE THE SAME PRESS in which they make all Cubans on?!! After I took a bite out of?! He brought my same sandwich back, which is disgusting & unsanitary!!! I'm going to contact the DOH food sanitation dept to have them look into this. This is unacceptable for Columbia!
Always go for the best paella in the country!
Excellent food, waitress very accommodating. Do not rush you. Only complaint noise level very high and tables very close together.
Enjoying a long weekend in Sarasota and decided to try Columbia as a colleague had recommended. It was great! The "1905" salad is a must! Everything we had from the tapas to the main meal was excellent. The service was very good. We had reservations for 7:00 and were seated by 7:20 - definitely make reservations!!!
Served by waiter who didn't care. When dropping over $300 for a party of 4 celebrating a birthday was disappointing. Pitcher of mojitos has no ice and one leaf of mint. Ordered regular, larger glasses and were much better....but also cost more.
We had fun in spite of the poor service and drinks...food was average.
Very good Spanish food. A regular stop whenever in St Armands Square
Dinner was wonderful... we went back the next night!
This restaurant is loud, over crowded and the floor was dirty. Our server was slow and careless. The food that my wife and I ordered, "roast pork cuban style" was mediocre and my dinner was so tough it was inedible and returned to the kitchen. The chef here has evidently never eaten roast pork cuban style because what was served didn't even resemble cuban roast pork.
We have enjoyed dining at the Columbia restaurants in Tampa and St. Augustine but this location was a major disappointment. Many better dining choices when visiting St. Armands Circle.
Fantastic food and service!
Always a great meal here!
Outstanding food, great service, fun atmosphere. Try the black bean cakes!
Amazing flavorful food in a fun authentic vibe. Consistently good every time.
Great time, great sever, tasty food, delicious drinks!
Need to clean up floor under and around tables. Bus is sloppy. Not only our table but it was messy at others. I know it is a busy place but they can clean up.
Service and food were really good! We’ll be back.
Unfortunately, we departed shortly after being seated because we thought we had been transported back to Michigan. It was uncomfortably cold due to a/c pouring from multiple ceiling openings. After requesting a change to warmer environs, we did not get any satisfaction from hostesses (who exuded attitude).
We love Columbia and always look forward to dining there. Hope our next visit trumps this one.
Fabulous Cuban food. Don't miss the mojitos. Some dishes may be spicy but they are never "hot."
Celebrating my farher’s 93rd Birthday. Everything was perfect and outstanding!
Can’t wait to go back. Love the salad , bread and tapas
Fabulous! Highly recommend..service & food off the charts
Roe was absolutely wonderful! Great recommendations and food delicious!
Great food, great atmosphere, & great service. We loved it so much that we ate dinner at the Columbia Restaurant twice during our vacation.
We actually ate there twice on vacation. The servers were excellent. When she did not know the answer to a general question about one of their beers she had the manager come over to talk to me. It was not necessary but the small detail was appreciated. The food was fantastic. We will definitely return on our next vacation.
Waiter was rude.
First time dining at Columbia. Sat outside for lunch. Food was outstanding and service was excellent. Visiting the area from Chicago. Hope to be able to come back soon.
Sangria and their famous 1905 salad made table side! A must visit every time we are in Florida.
It was very busy and very loud. Maybe not the best place to bring a young child. They pack people in so the waiters are coming very close to you with their trays of hot food. The food was very good.
This was my third time visiting this winter. Each time a different dish and each time excellent. The wait service is excellent too!
Acknowledged that it was my birthday right away when we walked in (said it was when the reservation was made). Service was great. BEST mojito ever! The staff sang happy birthday and gave a free dessert. Loved all the history about the family incorporated into the menu.
Very festive atmosphere. Got there earlier than our reservation and they sat us early. But server was way too busy. Lots of long waits for cocktails and ordering and getting check. Felt kind of like a cruise ship port restaurant- just get people in and out quickly as possible. Mojito was right amount of sweet, but no muddled mint, just leaves floating in it. Black bean cakes were good, but surprised they were fried. Shrimp stuffed crab was good. Seafood pasta was average. House salad was less than average. Beer list was average.
We had a reservation. We were offered a choice of table outside or wait 30 minutes to honor the reservation. Other diners who were waiting for their tables were on top of us and talking so loud we had trouble hearing each other. Our waiter had a very bad attitude as he was overworked -- until it came time to give us the bill (and his tip). I like this restaurant, but would only return during off hours and off season. Too crowded, too loud and the wait staff is overwhelmed.
Great food and ambiance as always
Make reservations or be prepared to wait. I walked in with my family and was seated immediately while the three couples ahead of us were all told, "At least 30 minutes." By the time we were eating our apps, the line was out the door to the curb!
The past two times here I've gotten the exact same meal. Hey, when somethings great, I tend to stick with it! Plus their menu is huge!
We always get a pitcher of sangria. The only tough decision is to go with the red or the white. Last time we had white so we went with the red tonight. They make it for you table side. Muddeling the fruit and mixing the wine and brandy. Damn great sangria! Then I get the Caesar salad and finally, (drum roll) The Bambino NY strip! OMG! (Yes, I copied and pasted the description from their menu!) "This is an incredible steak! Known for its full flavor and tenderness, our USDA Prime Boneless Strip Steaks are dry-aged for 40 days and possess fine marbling, with a slight texture. Brushed with our Original World-Famous "1905" Dressing that results in a succulent flavor. Back in the 20s and early '30s, the famed #3 Babe Ruth frequented the Columbia in Ybor City to enjoy this great 14 oz. steak. Served with Champiñones Rellenos and roasted potatoes. The Bambino is the favorite steak of 4th generation owners, Richard & Casey Gonzmart."
Now tell me that doesn't sound like a steak that will blow up your skirt! Every bite is full of steaky, juicy, goodness!
I never have room for their incredible bread pudding for dessert, so I usually order it to go like I did tonight. It's not really bread pudding in the traditional sense, but it's their version and it's amazing! (yes, I copied and pasted this description too!) "This is the best bread pudding that
we have tasted anywhere we have ever visited. Our version is made with white chocolate, La Segunda Central Bakery Cuban bread, Sunny Florida Dairy milk and Florida eggs. Topped with a rich Bacardi rum sauce."
Yes, it's as good as it sounds!
Our favorite place in Sarasota! Fantastic food, all of it! Many great restaurants on The Circle, this is the best.
Wonderful as always! We always make a point to go to Columbia when we are in Sarasota.
Great food and service
Two special items on the menu for Easter - ham dinner and lamb dinner. Went for the lamb and they ran out. Won’t take that chance again. Won’t go instead.
