Cuban Black Bean Soup
Frijoles Negros prepared exactly as our grandmother, Carmen Hernandez, did. Served over a bed of white rice and topped with diced raw Spanish onions. 100% vegetarian.
A 1937 Columbia creation by the Columbia's first chef and Hall of Fame member, Chef Francisco Pijuan. Four large marinated shrimp from the pristine waters of the Gulf of Mexico, wrapped in bacon, dusted in seasoned flour and lightly fried.
It must have been off day. Waited over 45 min for lunch. Cuban sandwich was dry - fish dry. Not good
Excelente service and good food . Cleaning, sanitary used
all good, great service, nice atmosphere, good precautions with COVID
Wasn’t very happy with food. Appetizer was burnt on bottom. And my Paella was not very good for $32. But the sangria was fabulous!!
Wonderful food and the sangria is fabulous! A bit noisy but I wouldn’t let that keep me from going. It’s worth the trip from Cape Coral.
We went there on our way from Bonnita Springs back to Ocala. We have been there several times and really like their food. The 1905 Columbia salad is really good. Not sure if do to Covid or lunch but they brought the salad to our table instead of making it at the table. Still good. I had a Cuban sandwich that was really good. My wife had a couple of Tapas plates and a salad. Again awesome. We will definitely go back
Delicious food we ate outside and did some people watching… It was delicious and beautiful
We love this restaurant because the food, service and atmosphere is always great.
Very good food and service. Food is always consistent, never had a bad meal at Columbia.
Wonderful dinner at The Columbia restaurant, as always!
Food was delicious and the service was great.
It was not a good night for the restaurant. Long delays due no reason between food. My fish was excellent, my wife’s was not. Several other gaps in service made for a disappointing evening. Usually one of our favorite restaurants, past 2 visits have me now doubting our choice.
We arrived late (last seating) and off season so maybe our review isn’t so relevant but we did not care for Columbia Restaurant. Our server, Norbert, was fabulous but the restaurant atmosphere felt empty and ‘Disney’ like. The tapas were good but our entrees were terrible. We all got the Grouper which seemed frozen. The texture just wasn’t right. My husband got sick later that night.
Over the top corteous. Excellent food. Fun evening.
Another nice meal at Columbia. Alex was an excellent waiter, friendly, attentive and accommodating. Look forward to dining at Columbia again in the near future.
We went to Columbia on 2 successive days, once for dinner and once for lunch. For dinner, we split the pork tenderloin dish. It was flavorful but very dry. The pitcher of Cava Sangria seemed watered down. The Cuban bread served alongside the meal was hot and luscious. Second day we had lunch where each of us had a half a Cuban sandwich and salad or black bean soup. This time the Cuban sandwich seemed like it had been sitting in a warmer and didn’t appear or taste like it was fresh made. The salad is always good. Have a sangria this time was excellent. But the most incredible part of the meal was the white chocolate bread pudding. I strongly encourage everybody to have that dish just once. The service both times was very good, but parts of both meals were disappointing. My advice when going to this restaurant is to tell the waiter when something doesn’t seem as good as you expect. They are willing to make it better, I’m sure
Awesome lunch menu. Cuban sandwich and mahi-mahi were excellent.
Always, always the best tasting food. Staff is excellent and bartenders as well.
The food looked very, very good. I'm hoping they were just having a bad night. Our server was inattentive, none of the food was tasty. My medium well steak was rare, the lobster stuffed shrimp was so-so. Over all, won't go back.
Our server named Ky was outstanding. She made great recommendations and was attentive. The 1905 salad is delicious; bean cakes were fried but very tasty; the snapper was fresh and well prepared but the rice stole the show. Flan first dessert. The rose sangria was refreshing.
I LOVE this restaurant so much and the food is always fabulous!!!!
The 1905 Salad which is typically amazing was mediocre...the lettuce was yellow and white. No green whatsoever.
The food was wonderful. Our waitress, Marissa was delightful. We will be back!
Wonderful experience, clean and felt safe with the social distancing!
Beautiful atmosphere. Outstanding food! Excellent service. Tapas are absolutely delicious. Can’t go wrong with this place! So good!
Great restaurant! Excellent food and service-especially the sangria! Beautiful setting-St. Armand's Circle, Sarasota, Fla.! Highly recommend.
Went for my Birthday and I and 3 other guests enjoyed all our meals. Ended in bread pudding dessert which also was excellent. There were 3 tables of businessmen right next to us who were really enjoying their selves so we leaned over at each other so we could hear. This I am sure was an exception.
Salad very old and had to ask for bread. Server was not around much. Not the usual great experience.
The main thing we came for is their trademark 1905 Salad. The lettuce had brown edges and it was quickly soggy from too much dressing. I wish they could get back to table side preparation.
Angel was a great waiter. Very attentive & personable. The food was excellent. We enjoyed our meal & would eat here again.
Our dinner out was overall an Excellent experience
Very authentic food and atmosphere.
Hubby and I enjoyed a long-overdue data night, following a beautiful sunset at Lido Beach. As always, the service was fantastic, the Sangria was tasty and our entrees were delicious. We were so full that we ordered our dessert (try the bread pudding!) to go and enjoyed it the next evening at home.
Food was great but sangria was missing an ingredient. We had to order a second one. The second one was great but the first just wasn’t what was expected.
Our entire experience was amazing and our server Roe was awesome!
Wonderful service. Great food as usual!
Great food and service!
Columbia Restaurant is one of my Cuban favorite Restaurants to visit where ever they are located. The St Armand location is the one I visited last during Labor Day weekend. Myself and guests accompanied me enjoyed the ambiance, the food, drinks and our Server Tom was amazing. I can't to go back again and hope by that time it will be under Normal Circumstances (COVID FREE).
Another outstanding meal at columbia
The restaurant is nice and employees friendly. Unfortunately we were seated by the check out for to go orders. One lady was very displeased about what appeared to be a simple mistake in her bill. She felt the need to voice her view to any and everybody in the vicinity. Made for a less than desirable dining experience.
