Columbia Restaurant - SandKey
Casual attire is fine, but we don’t allow sleeveless shirts on men.
Choose a table looking out onto the radiant blue waters of the Intracoastal Waterway from the Mediterranean dining room, or experience the casual atmosphere from our outdoor deck on the water.
Join us for century-old family recipes like Paella "a la Valenciana," Filet Mignon "Columbia," & fresh seafood specialties. Sample a fine Spanish wine like Montecillo or Campillo.
We are a sister to the Columbia in Tampa's Ybor City, founded in 1905. Children's menu available. Open 365-days a year, including all holidays.
What an incredible meal! And a breathtaking view doesn’t even begin to describe how gorgeous it was looking out on the water while eating that famous salad! And the Cuban plate had to be at least 5 lbs of food. I was so impressed by how attentive the service was and do your self a favor: get a pitcher of the red sangria! You won’t be disappointed!!!
We love the one where we live, in St Augustine. We always go there for special occasions. So it was great to be able to celebrate Fathers Day at the same restaurant, but different location. Love the waterfront view and the waiter was so nice and accommodating. But my only negatives were the random people walking by in bathing suits staring, or the smokers standing right by the waterfront view. I'm sure that can't change with how the setup is with the jet skiing place right there, but it kind of ruins the ambiance and the $ meals you are paying for.
Make sure you ask to be seated with Adam. Best server we’ve ever had there. Made my Fathers Day dinner even better.
Very classy restaurant. Our favorite restaurant for special occasions. The food is always delicious. Service is top botch. A bit pricey.
Very nice Father's Day dinner. I treated my daughter and her father to dinner and everyone was extremely pleased with their meal. The server was very good. The food was excellent as always. The sangria is delicious; however, the pitcher was old, cracked and broken along the top. Not very pleasant to pour from but the sangria is delicious. My reservation was ready when we arrived and my special request to sit by the window was granted. Overall it was a delicious, very pleasant experience. I always enjoy visiting the Columbia. I've never been disappointed! Thank you
This Columbia is our go to special occasion spot. The food and service is always fantastic.
Made rest thru Open Table and it showed “our” table to be a 4 top ,inside and at the window Arrived and table given was a 2 top at the end of the banquette on the right as one enters the room. I did go back to the maitre’d who was understanding and asked us to wait a few minutes and we would be reseated. A few minutes later, we were taken to the reserved table. Everything following was excellent and flawless bud did have to run down our waiter to get more butter
Our server was in a rush and occupied with two larger tables. Our previous experience was much better.
Big mistake having lunch here , only value is the water views
Amazing food and service. Must have the 1905 salad which is made at your table as well as the white sangria made with champagne and delicious foods.
Made reservations here for a Sunday night and it exceeded my expectations. Dinner was authentic and very flavorful. Will definitely be going back.
Hubby & I have been coming here for years, whenever we are nearby. Reservations through Open Table were ready when we arrived! We always order the 1905 salad & seafood paella. The salad was great as always! The seafood paella was just ok....seems there is a lot LESS seafood, and a higher price! There is always white asparagus in top, this time it was ice cold (canned maybe?). We did enjoy our meal, & the wait staff is top notch! We were surprised at the "beach casual" attire we saw other patrons wearing.....
We look forward to dining here again next time we are in town, but will be trying some other dishes!
They just need to have more comfortable chairs for adult bottoms.
The service was wonderful and the food was also. It was our Anniversary.
Great food. Paella was missing scallops though. Bread was delicious and the salad was excellent. Went for our anniversary which we put on the reservation, but there was no mention of it. Not sure if they celebrate occasions. The location was nice and we would go back again.
As always, the food, service and overall experience was superb! The red sangria, fresh warm Cuban bread, Spanish bean soup and the table-side 1905 salad were all excellent. For entree's we had the Boliche Criollo and the Corvina a la Rusa, both excellent. Too full for dessert, but took home Key Lime Pie and Flan, also excellent. Our waiter, Stephan, was knowledgeable, friendly and very professional. The menu has a very large selection, including a large selection of Tapas. Although it is an hour drive for us, we dine here multiple times a year not only because of the great setting/atmosphere, but because the food and service are consistently outstanding! Highly recommend.
Marioh was amazing, her service was top notch, food was great, and they have a good selection of wine,
We've been to the Columbia Restaurants in area several times and always enjoy food and atmosphere.
very disappointed! Read reviews so had high expectations. Restaurant was expensive and food overall just average. My meal, the vegetarian paella was gross!
I am always upset when you make s reservation for 5 and are seated at a table for 8! Impossible to carry on conversation! Also upset that with a reservation we did not get a table with a view! This has happened to us two times in a row!
This was the worse experience we have had at this restaurant. It was very HOT in the dining area. Our server Gene was by far not great. He kept telling us he would be with us shortly and left us sitting while he was tending to the table behind us. It wasn't busy when we first got seated so I really don't understand why our service was terrible. We were on 2 people. We left the place really sad that the service and the heat were so disappointing.
Today was a special anniversary and I noted that on Open table and also requested a window due to the occassion. Neither received/acknowledged... Server-Zachary, didn't know menu and we seemed to bother him. Our reservation was @ 3:30 and we came to relax, enjoy or special day (we even requested to order from the dinner menu)enjoy the scenery and our time together. The kitchen was very accommodating with allowing us to order off the dinner menu and serving a spicy red sause with the calamari. However, to be honest, the server made us feel rushed, irritated, annoyed and did not enjoy our time at all. We ordered the sangria pitcher twice (he forgot) and he only brought one glass. We asked for another glass to toast our anniversary and had to stop another server for assistance. We stated we wanted to relax and not be rushed but food came while we weren't even close to finishing our apps. We tried to enjoy our entrees but approx. 10 minutes after the food was served, the server came over to check on us as asked if we wanted any dessert. My husband still had more than 1/2 of his entree and hadn't even touched his white asparagus yet and I still had 3 out of 5 stuffed shrimp on my plate. Believe it or not, about 7 to 8 minutes later, he came back and asked us about desserts again and proceeded to take the check binder out of his apron. I finally said we aren't ready and would like to finish our food 1st...this is not acceptable. In the end, my husband didn't even want to leave him a tip but growing up in my parents restaurant business, I didn't feel that was the right thing to do. Once we left, it all became clear as the server was walking out of the restaurant right behind us to go home. He didn't care about anything other than rushing us out to go home ☆☆☆but when we spent $135.00 plus tip for 2 people, I would have expected alot more from the server.(But it shouldn't matter if we only spent $25.00) I'm not sure if we will be back. It wasn't worth it!!!
Columbia Restaurant has a great waterfront view on the intercoastal side.
Good food - service just okay (the restaurant does get extremely busy but still....)
Came in for our anniversary - not sure why they ask if it's a special occasion if they are not going to recognize it...
Should notify people that the outdoor seating area is considered a smoking section - we had a guy light up a big cigar one table over and blow smoke all over the place.....
Always great food and service.
very expensive for the food we got-prices are too high
feed was so so
Always enjoy Columbia when in Tampa and Clearwater Beach.
Was here with the family...always a great meal! Service top notch.
As a frequent visitor to the original Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City, we thought that we would give this location a try.
The main dining room is lacking any ambiance and style, very stark, so we chose to be seated on the outdoor deck overlooking the water. Very crowded, but relaxing views.
Our waiter came to the table within a reasonable time of being seated, but we felt rushed when we asked for more time time to reveiw the menu, He returned shortly and we ordered both drinks and dinner. We were asked if we wanted bread and we said yes.
Fast forward 15 minutes, our dinner showed up, no drinks or bread, when questioned, the waiter stated the bar was behind and the bread should be out shortly (third time he stated that)
Again we waited, and the drinks arrived halfway through the dinner, then the bread arrived when we completed the dinner.
Because of the delay in getting our drinks, we gave the waiter another chance and ordered our second drinks when he dropped off the first round, again another 10 minutes until they arrived.
By this time we had completed our dinner and joked that the drinks must be "after dinner drinks"
The food was similar in taste and portion to the original Columbia, but you could tell the pride in preparation and service was none existent at this location.
If you are in the mood for Columbian food, I would recommend making the trip to the original restaurant in Ybor City, as you will not be disapointed!
This restaurant is never a disappointment. Food was delicious, service excellent, and a beautiful setting.
Had never been for lunch before but atmosphere, food and service were equal to previous dinner experiences.
Excellent service from Steve while celebrating our Anniversary weekend. Food was delicious and plentiful. Seated at a lovely table with a great view of the water.
We are local and this was our first time at The Columbia in Sandkey. We were celebrating out anniversary. Our waitress Ivona was awesome. She walked my husband through the menu, highlighting in great detail her recommendations. The restaurant has huge windows looking out to the intercoastal waterway. Every table has a great view and even though we were in the middle of the restaurant, it didn't feel like we were the attraction for everyone sitting on the outside tables due to the view through those windows! We saw dolphins and I am sure on a nicer evening, there would be lots of boats to look at too. My paella was AMAZING, and my husband's steak was awesome. Next time I am definitely getting a pitcher of mojitos just to get the show that goes with making that beverage!
Everything was top notch!
I have eaten at the Columbia on numerous occasions .... in short, each time it exceeds my expectations. We shared the Grouper Jimmy and the Lobster canelloni .... outstanding !!!!
Absolutely love Columbia. We stop by every time we are in Sand Key
Best food in Clearwater Beach!!!
Food was good but not as good as in Ybor. Service and ambiance were quite nice.
Great food and atmosphere , make reservations . Will be back on our next trip to Clearwater !
This place is beautiful and elegant. My daughter and I with some close friends dined here for my daughters 16th birthday. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was elegant and we just enjoyed our waitress. We would definitely come back. Thank goodness for valet parking though. Very limited spaces if you park on your own. Still, a wonderful experience
The location is outstanding. The food is fresh and very good. However, service at this Columbia restaurant is always challenging. And as is usual, the waiter -- despite writing our order down on paper -- seemingly entered it wrong and the kitchen runner brought out the wrong food for my wife. So I ate alone...then she did. The server and runner had an issue with each other over it, but no apology to us for the mishap.
The original in downtown Tampa is light years ahead in their service as is their location in St. Augustine.
