Columbia Restaurant - SandKey Ratings and Reviews
I made reservations for my company’s leadership team to cap off a long day of meetings. I was very pleased they were able to accommodate outdoor seating. We ordered way too much food but I was glad we did because I got to try it all. The 1905 salad was scrumptious and a meal in itself. The bread was delicious and I don’t eat bread anymore. I could have stopped after the tapas we enjoyed. I particularly liked the crab cakes but the croquettes were also good. My mojito was sublime. I was stuffed by the time my pollo manchego arrived but it was tasty. My husband had the snapper jimmy with crab and enjoyed it. We all enjoyed the good rice. I had to sample the key lime pie. It was good but I’ve had better in the keys. Columbia is worth a visit! Me go time I’d try paella but it requires half an hour warning
Columbia In Sand Key is one of our favorite restaurants. I usually get the Pompano or Red Snapper. My Pompano this time wasn't as spicy as usual but it was still very tasty. My wife really enjoyed her meal. The service was very nice. I recommend Columbia to anyone who asks me for a nice restaurant to go for dinner Clearwater/St. Pete area. We take all of our visitors to the Columbia for dinner.
The restaurant was really good overall I enjoyed my vegetable paella and my boyfriend enjoyed the shrimp pasta. My son and his girlfriend also went they did not like their dishes which was steak and some chicken with some olive cream sauce on top of it not sure of the names.
The Columbia is consistently excellent and this time was no exception. We enjoyed a Valentine's Day dinner, with great food, sangria, and service. Our server, David, was attentive and knowledgeable. And the ambiance was perfect as we looked out on the beautiful intracoastal waterway. We almost always dine at the Columbia for special occasions and are never disappointed.
Reserved for 6 persons. Seated on time. Lots of six tops available, but given one by the kitchen; when nicer tables were available.
Hostess said that everything was reserved, but 2 six tops remained empty during our visit.
Many plates and glasses around us.
Noise level from guests and servers was unacceptable.
Good as very good.
As usual, our meal here was terrific. Our server Andrea was top notch and supplied many touches to make it even better. We could have been pleased with the 1910 Salad and bread but ordered the Paella as well and we were stuffed. The pitcher of mojitos was the best!
We have eaten here often. Never disappointed in the food or service! Our waiter was quite personable. Very attentive and suggested great daily specials. Although a bit loud in the main dining room, the bar or outside seating is quiet and scenic! Sangria and the 1905 Salad is a perfect meal, both made at the table. Delicious!
We had a lovely dinner at the Columbia in Clearwater!! We made reservations, which is recommended so that you get preferred seating. Our waiter was terrific! He was knowledgeable about the menu and gave us good recommendations. The Sangria and 1905 salad were terrific as always! My Grouper Jimmy was wonderful, and the sides of asparagus and "good" rice were the perfect compliment. My husband had paella and was a little disappointed. It was salty. He talked with our waiter about it, and he said sometimes they add to much seasoning to the rice. I had Key Lime pie for dessert. It was good, but not the best I've ever had. The next time I'll try one of the more Spanish desserts.
Service was great. Our waiter Gene provided the right amount of attention without being obtrusive. The food was delicious and well presented. We were seated in the main room which can be a bit noisy when crowded but it’s a part of the atmosphere. Highly recommend the Grouper Bilbao.
We have been to the Columbia Restaurant in St. Augustine, so the one on Sandy Key was a disappointment. The primary reason was our waiter. Gene was just odd. He technically did his job, but his wait style was weird. It seemed like we were bothering him every time we asked for something. When asked for a recommendation, he just listed 3 fish, but not their preparation. He plunked down food. Our guested had been there the previous week & had a wonderful experience. He negatively affected our dinner. Otherwise, the food was good, but not great.
I choose the Columbia on Sand Key to impress out of town relatives from New York who travel extensively. It worked beautifully. We all know people that can never be pleased. They were.! Kudos to the Columbia from the kitchen to the wait staff. Our waiter Adam was phenomenal. HIs recommendations from the menu brought scrumptious appetizers which started the evening off with raves and which were followed by enticing entrees. I almost couldn't believe that our dining experience lasted three hours. No one was ready to leave.
As for myself. I've often enjoyed the same dining treat, but I usually frequent with local friends for lunch not dinner. Keep up your excellent service. Regards, John J. Davis
We have a long history with the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City dating back to the 1970s and have always enjoyed the musical talents of Maestro Jose Gonzmart and the Cuban dancers . Jose and Adela would be proud of what Richard and his brother have accomplished since taking over the restaurant and making the name "Columbia" a Florida (if not national) landmark. They obviously appreciate Tampa's history when they resurrected the Goody-Goody, my favorite spot at TIA. (Airside "C"). Columbia Clearwater .. Great Food and Atmosphere...A must for anyone coming to the Bay area. Paul J. Marino Esq. (HCSO Ret)
This is one of our favorite restaurants. We have been to other Columbia locations also but love this one for the water view. The food is excellent as is the service. This evening, Shannon, our server was particularly sensitive to one of our guests who was gluten-free. Not only did she give her the gluten-free list of foods but brought a cup of plantain chips for her when the rest of us received our fabulous Cuban bread. This is the kind of service worth noting. We will return again and again.
We went to Columbia for dinner while spending the weekend in Clearwater Beach. We were shown to our table in a very promptly. Our original table was near the door to patio and it was very drafty there when they opened the door. We asked to move and they graciously obliged. The food was very good and there is quite a selection. We ended up with a tomato salad which as outstanding and four tapas plates. The shrimp with garlic sauce was the best choice. Service was good until it was time to get our check. Our waitress spent about 10-15 minutes chatting with guests at another table and we could not get her attention. Other than the extensive wait for our check, Columbia was a good choice.
My husband and I met a friend at Columbia for our annual get-together meal. Staff was courteous, attentive and helpful. Ambiance was excellent and the water view amazing. The food was a bit too spicy and pricey for us. Definitely a place we would go for a special occasion.
