Columbia Restaurant - SandKey Ratings and Reviews
Server James Costello wasn't as attentive as accustomed to. He didn't visit the table to inquire if everything was to our liking, even though the restaurant was less than half full. Some items on my entrée plate were undercooked (rice, and large vegetable pieces) while others were overcooked (small vegetable pieces). My wife found the rice in her paella dish, which she orders all the time, undercooked. The potatoes in my guest's dish appear overcooked. The guest stated he liked it, but he left more than half the meal on the plate. This is in addition to the pitcher of sangria that was enough for only four glasses! Very disappointed during this visit.
Always a pleasure! Our favorite restaurant in Clearwater. Also our favorite in Y’bor and Celebration!
PS- we had a new waitress on her first night going solo after training. Her name was Jessica and she did a great job. She was very transparent it was her first night and she was going to do her best to make sure we had the best service we were used to. She did awesome!

I have used the Sand Key Columbia several times in the past for entertaining family and friends for special occasions, and always, without fail, had outstanding service and absolutely wonderful food. Something was really off this time. From beginning to end - The tower appetizer was cold and not served what was ordered, Cold bread that seemed to be a day-old, Jimmy Grouper and Good Rice was tasteless and overdone and the steak was tough, overdone, and very chewy. The house wine was very good as usual. But at $265. for a party of 4, I am reluctant to try again in the near future.
We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the meal. It was Thanksgiving Day and the place was very crowded. We were seated at a nice booth and the service went very smoothly. We were served in a much more timely manner than expected as there were many large tables.
It made our Thanksgiving.
We went to the Columbia (Sand Key) for Thanksgiving Dinner. My daughter, a vegetarian was able to order something off of the regular menu and she said it was excellent. The rest of us had the turkey dinner which was great and the dessert, pumpkin pie was excellent. Our server, Skyler, was very attentive, even though he had other tables.
Our waitess was TERRIBLE. She had no idea what she was doing. Didn’t even know what fountain drinks you had to offer. She was super nervous and brought our drinks out one at a time (??) some of us never got water and had to ask for our salad and side plates to be cleared. The food was wonderful as usual. We come here for thanksgiving every year. We may request a specific server next year. Our party was split in 2 tables and the other waitress (tall blonde girl late 20s) was amazing.
Waiter was the best we have ever had! Sophisticated, very knowledgeable, unintrusive but attentive.
The food is exceptional - creative and imaginative - one of our very favorite restaurants and we also live in Buckhead, Atlanta, Georgia, where there are many 4-5 star restaurants.
Tell everyone they have to dine at the Columbia!!
We have been to Columbia before but this was our first time to try the special Thanksgiving menu. I was concerned that we would miss out on a traditional turkey meal but we were blown away by the meal and how well they handled. it. This was a first class event. My husband said it was one of the the best sweet potato casseroles he has eaten. The entire meal was outstanding and the serving size was large. Along with good food, we had great service. I definitely recommend the Columbia for a holiday meal.
We were dining with friends from the UK. I felt a bit rushed. Of course we were talking and catching up over dinner so we were a little slower at getting done with our cocktails and salads. Before we were finished with our salads the server was trying to bring out our dinner. Salad plates not taken away and they are trying to put more plates on an already crowded table. Just a mi nor detail but one that could have easily been monitored and avoided.
