Columbia Restaurant - Celebration Ratings and Reviews
This is our favorite Orlando restaurant. We love the chopped tomatoes and onions (to share). The dressing is delicious and the tomatoes are always flavorful in any season. The Cuban black bean soup and the gazpacho soup are also outstanding. We’ve tried several entrees and liked all of them. Portions are large and everyone gets a large piece of crusty bread.
My entree, red snapper with onions, peppers, and gravy was smothered in too much gravy and way too many uncooked onions. The fish was tough and hard to cut. The waiter took the price off our bill. The salad and dessert were good. It was my 50th anniversary. No one acknowledged it even though I told them when I made the reservation. Very disappointing. Would not recommend to a friend.
We sat and all went well with the introductions. We order the Tapas (Chorizo). Had to returned it, it was very very very difficult to chew. It was lime Beef Jerky. The waiter suggested for another item and we accepted. It was way way better and easy to chew.
I order the Ribeye and It came with Potatoes and Veggies. HOWEVER!!!! As I stared to eat, I notice that I was having a problem chewing. There was debris in the meal. At firsts I thought it was part of the Veggies, however It was like a piece of Cardboard or Plastic. There were several pieces on the plate. I pick them up and took these foreign objects to the front desk where the Hostess resides. She immediately told me that she will let the manager know. The Manager came and said I’m sorry and he said that he would take care the part of the meal (The Stake). Bad experience to say the least with objects in your food, and me and my Date we will never be there again.
Very enjoyable experience. The food was authentic and perfectly prepared. The menu was varied, however a bit pricey. The service was excellent. Upon arrival, despite a small crowd at the time, the hostess seated us in a back room by the bar. The tables and entire atmosphere was not the same as the main Columbia dining room. I asked to be moved to the main dining area and we were.
I was in Orlando staying at a Disney property and this was worth leaving the Disney Oasis!
Loved the 1905 salad and the 1/2 a loaf of bread that each of us got. Yes, I ate it all.
We shared the tapas sampler and got the bread pudding which was a huge portion and delicious. Marlon took great care of us, not rushing us to order after receiving cocktails.
The atmosphere is lively and I would definitely return.
Had much high expectation for this place. I love Tapas and have been to many places. The food was not very well seasoned for authentic. Missing some very significant flavor for tapas. Some o f the dishes did not taste very fresh made and more pre-prepared (not spoiled). Scallops were tough and chewy. Cuban black bean soup was very good. Overall walked it mouth watering but left more hurt than disappointed that a place with such a long history would not have knocked me out of this world. Not sure if I would be willing to give a second try just for the benefit of the doubt. Couldn't stand another disappointing meal.
We stopped in for some sangria and tapas based on a word of mouth review. So glad we did...the 1905 salad alone was worth it! The tapas were excellent. The sangria was a big hit for us and we are sangria snobs. I wish I had saved room for dessert...guess I'll have to go back.
Be aware if you sit outside they have a major mosquito infestation. My wife received over 20 mosquito bites on each of her feet while we were sitting outside for dinner. She didn’t realize it until we got home. She has never received that many mosquito bites her life. We also saw another customer who was being bit by mosquitos while dinning outside.
I frequent Columbia and usually have a great experience. However, this time was an exception. We ordered a stuffed calamari appetizer that came to the table cold and raw. Our waiter apologized but nothing else was done aside from taking it off the bill (we told him to take it away). Next, we ordered Paella that came to the table cold and was very very salty. I have a high salt tolerance and this was too much even for me. The chicken in the paella tasted as if it were old. Perhaps it was reheated? Our service was also very bad. The waiter would disappear for long periods of time (the restaurant was not crowded). After our dinner, I expressed my concerns to the "manager" who seemed not to care at all. He said "I wish you would have told me sooner." That was the best he could muster. I wasn't looking for anything free, but I would have at least liked him to acknowledge my complaints and seem the slightest bit concerned about our experience. I am really hoping it was just an "off night".
We have been to this Columbia many times but this time the service was the worst. Our server was non-existent & any time we needed something, we had to ask for it more than once. I did talk to the manager on duty & told him how bad the service was. We have been there a few other times we the service was barely OK. But there food is excellent & that is why we keep returning.
I've come to the Columbia before for both business lunches and dinner with my wife. All times were terrific in terms if quality of the food and especially gracious service. I haven't beemytonColumbia however in six months due to busness travel so when out of town visitors stopped in to visit, Columbia was on the menu - and how I wish it wasn't.
Things have changed and not for the better. My waitress was inexperienced, could not deviate from the menu choices (no really instead of the 1905 salad couldn't my guest have a greens only salad with oil and vinegar?)
Tapas combinations were "by the book" and believe it or not, not substitutions with dinner selections.
I have always felt the Cuban spirit of family was abundant at Columbia, guess it caught the last train out of Celebration. Sad to see a great place go downhill
