Long lines at the bar. Should have added another bartender.
Not much selection for dessert. Disappointed with the buffet as they did not have a large selection to choose from. For the price it wasn’t worth it.
Always a good night here. Food is hit or miss but it's more a preference issue as the buffet changes.
Watched the horses service was great roasted potatoes over cooked other choices ok. If the track was not here there are better restrant choices for the price
The food was absolutely great , very good desserts . The only problem that we faced was we were seated at 6:05 PM Never seen a server until 6:40 PM , We requested if there was a server working in our section twice, had no idea how to proceed with the buffet ?finally got to order our drinks at 6:40 PM We had our meal almost completed before server showed up :(
We enjoyed our dinner and watching th E races. My only complaint was that the food was lukewarm....not hot. It was very tasty and there was lots of choice.
This is the p;lace for live horse racing. The food was ok overall with great roast beef middle of the road trimmings, good roasted potatoes and cheaper red wine. The waiter had a huge area to cover alone. The service was abysmal but it was not his fault. He tried but serving 10 to 15 tables alone without bus staff is a challenge. Unless you want to watch live horse racing give this place a miss for a dining destination. The $27.95 for a buffet/cafeteria meal was a bit excessive.
It was my Father's birthday and this was our first time going there as I heard lot's of good things about it. The food was really good, but a bigger selection would be better. If you've never been there, it's a really good experience to check out. The staff were amazing. They're always on top with picking up empty plates and making sure our glasses are full at all times. The table we got was such an awesome view. Can't top that!
They even sang a birthday song and a complimentary cake for my dad. Such a beautiful moment captured.
Will definitely come back again!
Our relatives who live in Calgary, come to Edmonton once a year to go to Northlands with us. This year was our fifth year and we enjoyed the day at the track very much. The service was great and the food was average for the price.
It was our daughter's birthday and she & her friends sat outside which they loved. My husband and I (with another couple) had a great table -D15. The food was very good with many vegan options. The service was excellent as well as a staff member stored my husband's walker in the coat check during the afternoon. I also give kudos to the staff handling bets.....very friendly & patient. Thank you.....a wonderful, fun-filled afternoon!
Always a great time being in Colors to watch the races. The food, the set up & the service is 5 star ⭐️ plus! Thank you!
It was my Dads 85th birthday so I wanted to treat him to lunch and the horse races.... Colours gave us exceptional seating (right at the finish line ) and brought Over a piece of cake and sang Happy birthday to my Father ....Very nice , thank you Colours staff !
The 5 of us had a really good time. We weren't very good at picking winners but it was great to be all together.
We went to watch the horse races. The food was good value for the price. The selection at the buffet was good. The servers were on top of replacing empty dishes very quickly. The food was hot and very tasty. We were seated right next to the servers station and it was noisy. It was a bit distracting so I would highly recommend requesting a table away from the servers station not only because of the noise, but that is also where the dirty dishes are brought and it tends to be a very very busy location.
We had a very enjoyable evening at the races. Three generations dined from the Colours buffet, and especially enjoyed a number of the scrumptious desserts on offer. It's a great family outing which everyone was happy with.
Drink service was very poor. up to 1/2 hour wait. Tables requested were not right. I had asked for seating of 20 and got 18. I have set up this group dining out for a lot of years and this was the most disappointing yet. The food however, was great.
it is always a great night out attending the races at Colours Restaurant. The food is always good, but always the same. it might be nice to see some variety in the buffet selections...
One of our friends got a headache and wondered if there was MSG in the meal. So he had to take a headache medication. We had some issues with attracting our waiter's attention for ordering drinks, for water glass refills and an incorrect bill. But we enjoyed the evening overall. Our seating was great. A most enjoyable experience.
We had a great time. Good view of the track. And supper was delicious. The service was great and very friendly and welcoming. We hope to come to Edmonton and do it again soon!
Food was great, good variety and there was plenty of food for all attendees
buffet was cold, tea water was not hot enough to brew tea bag, service was, buffet value was too expensive as food was moderate
Always a great time thanks I love taking customers there they seem to unwind and have a good time betting on the horses thanks
We went for a friend's birthday. Our main interest was a get together and of course the horse races. We heard the food at Colors reataurant was horrible but we wanted the view of the race track and comfort. We were pleasantly surprised that the food was okay. It wasn't great by any means but we enjoyed it. The desert table was nice and had some yummy items. We would go again but only for a racetrack day. For a dining experience only, we would go somewhere else.
none of the above. Upon arrival the server showed us to the table, and that was it. Did not direct us to the smorg. The food was cold, chicken overdone - couldn't cut into it. The only good thing about it was the dessert. Way overpriced. The total for 2 was $50. Definitely not worth it, would not recommend it.
Joined by my daughter, her partner and her father. Celebrating the birth of my grandson, who was 20 days old when we were at this venue. Lots of celebrations taking place- birthdays, etc.
The food was good. I was told the beef was delicious. The side dishes could have used some flavoring. Overall- good variety and the staff were attentive.
The noise in the venue was moderate and did not disturb my newborn grandson- we were afraid he would sleep right through the evening and miss his next feeding.
My daughter was delighted that there was Family Restrooms.
We have been here a number of times as a family (party of 8-12) and we love this venue.
Was horrible, will be sending a complaint to management
I have been to Colors a number of times over the years for special occasions. We have always really enjoyed ourselves and we enjoyed ourselves this last time too. However, we have always been very impressed with the food during our previous times but this last time the food was very below par. Still, the same price but nowhere near the quality I had hoped for.
Looking forward to going again soon, before it closes... wish I had gone their sooner!!!
We go every year for my mom's birthday & invite all of her girl friends. It's a yearly event that they don't want to miss out on. You don't have to bet, but the ladies at the table bet a little bit. They give themselves $20 each & some lose it all & some go home with another $20. Although it's fun it doesn't have to be about betting. It's a buffet & a different place to meet up at.
Our server Pinky was amazing........very personable and made my mom feel very special on her birthday celebration! THANKU!
Service could have been better. Didn't see the waiter for 45 minutes and he wasn't sure who had what for drinks (even when tallying the bills)
My husband & I went with our granddaughter & her boyfriend & our granddaughter is celiac so was very pleased to see the number of foods she was able to eat & how well marked the hot foods were. The salad bar was not marked for which were gluten free so it would help if you would note dressings that are & which salads might have gluten items in them or were prepared in close proximity to gluten. Otherwise we had a great time.
We go more for the sport of a comfortable seat/view of the horse racing. The buffet is mediocre, with the exception of the desert selections which are very good. It is a great place to enjoy the racing bit not if you want cost effective fine dining.
Have dined here quite a few times and the food on the buffet seems to be getting colder every time. If you enjoy barely like warm food, they have a good selection.
We love coming to Colours for date night! Both of us will be so sad when/if you close. Everyone is so nice and helpful. It will be a terrible loss if you close.
We will be back soon, thank you!
Hot food was warm/cold :(, we started eating right when it opened, the flavour on all was tasty and salads fresh/good and desserts very good. Missed the soup - that was available in the past.
$30 for a buffet with eggs? And you have to order it or you get charged for it anyway?? Who does that? Just came back from the U.S. and every other Horse Racing Grandstand has a menu. The whole experience is based on horses, food and drinks. Very steep price for like I said an Egg buffet. Other options should be available so you can at least Bet the horses while your there!
Service excellent, buffet amazing, chicken was fantastic and moist, fish was amazing loved the sauce on it. Loved the assortment of salads. Lines at the buffet moved very quickly and there was minimal wait to have items replaced in the buffet when they were running low. It was very efficiently run.
Dessert was a good variety.
Loved this experience. Hats off the chefs and wait staff.
Great place to dine while watching the horse races! Make an entertaining fun evening or afternoon comète with dining overlooking the racectrack. Great fir special occasions.
Overall this was a good experience. We attended with friends. All of us had simular thoughts, but still with different views. Our waiter was very nervous, but he did his best.
Came to watch the harness racing and enjoyed a great table near the finish line and some very good food. It is an excellent way to spend an afternoon with the option to go and play the slots or bet on thoroughbred racing from all over North America. Friendly staff, lots of help at the betting windows if needed and a great buzz from the crowd during the live racing. Lots of fun!!
