Colore Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria Ratings and Reviews
Friendly staff and a casual vibe make this place feel like a true neighborhood gem. We started with the crispy calamari and steamed mussels. Both excellent. The mussels cooked perfectly and the broth flavorful and yummy. We split a 10” pepperoni pizza. Crust was crisp, good portion of mozzarella & pepperoni. Bill our server was attentive and fast with our drinks & food. The host checked in us multiple times. Carrot cake was delish with a macchiato to top off a great dinner. Thanks! We’ll be back!
Hard to say which was better, the food or the service. Colore is really happy people making great food! The Calamari Mixto is to die for. My only suggestion is to make the serving a little smaller since there is so much good food left to eat. Pizzas are really about the very best in town. Great wood oven crust. Pastas are all good as well. We are FOODIES for sure so a 5 Star review isn’t a “free gift”, this was earned and deserved! Any occasion can be a Colore occasion
We had a great meal here. Our food was terrific & the service was really excellent. The staff made us feel that they appreciated our being there - very friendly & personable. It's likely to become one of our favorite go-to restaurants.
Our 2nd Visit - Our New Italian Go-To Restaurant
The best overall Italian dining experience in Denver. I've been to Italy more than 20 times, and this is as close to Italy in Denver as one will get. Very nice casual ambiance.
Outstanding Service by attentive knowledgeable servers who know the menu ingredients in detail.
Excellent authentic Italian food creatively prepared, using old family recipes, and served at the table oven hot.
Do not miss the soups. They are simply outstanding. Not your traditional "Italian Wedding Soup" but unique creations of the chef. Served very hot as soups should be.
Always busy - recommend reservations.
I wish we lived closer--this would be a weekly event for us! Whenever we have family or friends in town we go to Colore. Yes, we know the owners, but that isn't why we go. The food is consistently fantastic and the staff are wonderfully service oriented. I also wish we could go more often so I would try more dishes--I'm hooked on the fish of the day with veggies and gnocchi, so sometimes I forget to look at the menu!
Absolutely delicious, saucy, cheesy, lasagna . LOVE it. The host (maybe owner?) was very accommodating. Service is friendly and efficient. We also like their weekend brunch with bottomless mimosas and deserts, but I'd say kip the steaks and stick with their pastas.
The waitress was very nice. The manager however seemed annoyed that I was dining alone. Instead of saying hello the first words out of his mouth were do you have a reservation, and yes I did. The food was mediocre, the artichokes were hard and difficult to eat, the chicken piccata was bland. The tiramisu was okay. I wouldn't eat here again.
I started out with the mussels they were very nicely done. Not too spicy just right. However, there could have been more or larger and 6 or more were not open. The salmon was not bad could have used more flavor, but I tend to like a lot of lemon. My guest had the chicken parm and seemed to enjoy very much. I'm a bit of a wino and prefer larger stemware for red wine which wasn't an option I saw. Overall, I will go back and give it another try.
First time coming here; didn't realize it was restaurant week, but the staff got us seated earlier than our reservation. We went with the server's recommendations and it was excellent. They accommodated a vegetarian request, no problem. Highly recommend this place; quality food, good service, nice staff.
As always the food was great and the service this time was just okay. I give it only an okay as the server forgot the bread. By the time that we noticed our food was arriving...so too late. Otherwise it was a wonderful evening. Who's going to cry over a few missing bread crumbs?
Best cocktail ever! I had a Citrus Bliss while I awaited my dinner and I thought it was the best cocktail I've ever ordered. I had a simple dinner, just a grilled shrimp salad. It satisfied completely and was great with the complimentary focaccia. It also left me room for some peach bread pudding for dessert, which was a treat. The portion was large enough for me to take half of it home. My server was very pleasant and, without rushing made sure I was all taken care of to make the concert at Swallow Hill, right across the street. All in all a wonderful experience that I look forward to repeating.
The atmosphere was great and service fantastic! Your mouth will start to water as soon as you walk in the door and are greeted by the smells of freshly cooking food. All food is prepared to order and any requested diet restrictions, including gluten-free. You can't go wrong by dining here. We will definitely return.
Being right across the street from Swallow Hill makes this the perfect restaurant for dinner before a show and Swallow Hill. (I was able to slip out at door-opening time and reserve our two seats and then return to Colore to finish and relax.) That the food is delicious, the management gracious and the service excellent makes this a fine place to have dinner even if you aren't going to Swallow Hill. My mahi fish dish was beautifully done and included elegantly prepared vegetables. My husband's sausage and pepper pasta was flavorful and just the right level of spicy. House wine was a generous pour and espresso was everything it should be. There was only one disappointment and I knew I was taking a chance ordering the Irish Coffee, because in my experience, no place outside of San Francisco knows how to make a good Irish Coffee. I was not really surprised to experience yet another one that did not make the grade. (It cannot be made with whipped cream from a can and it needs the right shape of glass so that hot coffee slides under cold cream; see The Buena Vista Cafe website for details and the recipe if you are curious.) But I forgive that and will always be eating dinner at Colore before going to Swallow Hill.
