Colombo's Italian Steakhouse & Jazz Club Ratings and Reviews
Planned a surprise birthday dinner for my husband. The staff made the process easy. Our guests loved the food, the desserts were yummy. They even accommodated a vegan meal. The music was fun and our guests danced the night away. When the bill came I was pleasantly surprised at how moderate it was, great value and quality for the price.
This was not my first time to come to Colombo's I've been coming here for 20 years, not on a weekly basis, but frequently. I arrived early for my reservation (made on Open Table) and was seated immediately. I was meeting an old friend that just returned from 6 weeks vacation and we needed a place to sit and catch up! About 8:30, we were asked to leave the booth because a regular sits at the booth every Monday night. Take in consideration that the booth right next to us was available! Then a young man came to our table and said he was waiting for the table, we had already paid our bill and were finishing drinks. I was so upset about the treatment at this place I spoke with the manager and she said they count on people only staying 2 hours. I will probably come back because it's in my neighborhood, but I am going to ask that they seat me where I will not be asked to move and I don't mean sitting in the back room or at a table. Terribly rude to their average customers.
I always enjoy dancing to the sounds of "Blue Soul" who play every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month. If you're a boomer and enjoy listening to some Aretha Franklin as well as Bruno Mars you're in for a dancing treat. Again only there on 1st and 3rd Friday of the month. Everyone is friendly with each other. Wait staff are great, food is good, prices are good, drinks are the best if you like 'em strong!
The service was prompt friendly and very efficient. The food was excellent, The spaghetti meat sauce was the best I've ever had. The dessert selection was superb . Heard about Colombo's through a radio commercial and decides to drive Drive 22 miles to check it out and sure glad I did.
Colombo's is not what it used to be. This year makes it 30 years of going to Colombo's. In the beginning, when we moved to quiet little Eagle Rock, it was the place to go every Friday night. The drinks were strong and the food, adequate. We all had a blast. Linda Noriega was at the piano and everyone loved seeing each other at Colombo's. Something special would happen every week.
Then, new management, new staff, new menu, new politics, and understandably, new prices. Something changed, big time and Colombo's is not the same. Maybe it's me.
Columbo's is the same now as it was forty years ago: red leather booths along one wall, locals--characters all--everywhere. There piece band weekends. Good service, traditional fare with crisp tasty calamari appetizer and liguini with clams (we had both red and white) not amazing but very good. It's a treat to step into the past here in the too hipster Eagle Rock. Band a hoot.
