Colombini Italian Cafe & Bistro - Nob Hill Hotel
Our wines are expressly selected for the best of Italy, Spain, France and California"s Napa Valley and served with a perfect pairing of cheese and fruit plates.
Quite liked the fresh pasta with any treatment available!
A very small, intimate restaurant (~10 tables), we visited on Valentine's Day. The food was quite good, tho the noise level was quite high due to a table of 4 boisterous tourists (not the restaurant's fault).
This is one of the greatest deals in San Francisco for the price.
The place is located in Nobb Hill - a great and quaint area with the real vibe of classy San Francisco.
The place is warm, quaint and cozy - not flashy modern but very comfy.
The food is excellent. Everything was good - the pasta with blue cheese sauce, the lemon chicken etc. Even the wine was great and an outstanding value.
Honestly, I don't know how they do this.
Very low key, humble wait staff, and just plain nice. If want something romantic and like you were in a small town in the Italian hills, this is the place for you.
It definitely is a hidden gem
Wonderful food ....almost like home cooked
Light and tasty pastas.
Loved the appetizers.
We are vegetarians but hostess and chef made some changes to menu and we had a wonderful meal.
Tiramisu was awesome.
Small place but definitely will return
Nice little restaurant with good food, friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended if you re in the area !
What a find! Excellent food, intimate setting and not noisy so you can actually hear the conversation with your friends without yelling. I will definitely go back
Very nice laid back Italian restaurant with nice service
The Rigatoni alla Calabrese was good with the pasta al dente. The secondi should be expanded. The epresso could be better though, a little weak. A cozy quiet place, romantic for a date. Good neighborhood. I recommend this place.
Magnificent food. Charming, quiet, perfect ambience. Really just a wonderful experience.
Small and cozy Italian restaurant with Great food and Ambiance.
Had a wonderful dinner in this charming neighborhood gem. Female server was friendly and made us feel welcome.
When we were seated , we weren’t told that only two items on the menu were available that Sunday night. Ordinarily we would have left, but we didn’t want to look for another place so late. Service was sporadic and choices were limited.
The server was a bit unpleasant throughout the evening. Perhaps a bad day?
After a full day walking around San Francisco, this little Italian Bistro attached to our hotel was a gem. The menu was not huge but the choices were varied and delicious. We did not have wine and the dessert choice was a little restricted, but overall very nice.
Quiet, intimate neighborhood Italian restaurant. Ray and his staff went above and beyond to give us a terrific evening.
Wonderful small Italian place within walking distance from Nob Hill, California & Polk Streets. Quiet so that you can carry on a conversation at your table. Service & food was good - wine selections are limited.
The service at Columbini was laughable! The waiter basically disregarded our order. Garlic bread? Here is the bruschetta instead! (plus a basket of bead and butter, which we charged for, and was bussed away before we were able to enjoy it)
After the the pasta course, the waiter did not return to bring us the third course, no matter that our water/wine was empty, claiming he didn’t hear that we ordered a protein. We laughed about it because we always have fun together, but, really, it was a terrible dining experience.
Great meal! Quaint bistro with amazing food!
Great small little place for a get together with old friends. We all loved their food! It didn't look like much at first but after taking the first bite we were all amazed. Great food!
I Was in San Francisco on business. I was looking for a restaurant around my hotel. I canceled another reservation somewhere else and made this reservation. I was very happy I did. the service was attentive. The lasagna was perfect as was the Caesar salad. I only wish I could have enjoyed a bottle of wine with the dinner, but I needed to get back to the hotel. I will definitely try this restaurant again.
Would not recommend. The one flavor that shined through was salt. The spinach was good, but salty. The salmon was overcooked AND salty. The marsala sauce was flavorless except for the salt. AND probably the worst glass of $12 wine I've ever had. The place is cute. It has potential, but....
Excellent food. Horrible service very rude almost abusive waiter..the only one in the restaurant. Couldnt get anything right seemed stoned... screwed up orders, wine very poor slow service .
The waiter is not the funniest person in the world and I did not manage to pay with my credit cards when they were working perdectly.
The penne alla puttanesca were great however
Our entrees were sooooo great! My spouse had a shellfix mix. I had fresh pasta and meat sauce. We really enjoyed it. The restaurant is small and the one waitress could use a little help during peak times.
Loved this place and the staff was SO incredibly friendly. Would recommend to anyone trying to catch up with a friend or looking for a yummy/ cozy Italian restaurant. Their pasta was AMAZING!
Colombini is a wonderful Bistro with a wonderful menu, service and food. Getting together for our last night in San Francisco it provided an awesome venue for the night. Wine list was sufficient, atmosphere perfect and the waitress a delight. The meal was perfectly prepared from start to finish with attention given to service. Highly recommend for a nice quiet night out.
My husband and I like the feel of this unpretentious little restaurant with just a few tables. We come here for dinner on our annual SF overnight to celebrate our anniversary. We enjoyed a delicious minestrone soup, caesar salad, penne gorgonzola and veal marsala with polenta. We'll be back next year!
The place is SMALL!! The food was delicious. Do NOT pass up the fresh pasta. Mussels and house bread? Get them! Quaint little place. Extremely reasonably priced. Especially for SF. You will not be disappointed.
Delicious authentic Italian food. Small and quiet. Cozy.
Great food. Real Italian feel. Really surprised and impressed. Service was slow, but that is also "truly Italian"...
The food here was amazing though service was a touch unfriendly but not overly so. However, the ambience was amazing, being quiet enough I could actually talk to my dining companion without having to shout. Highly recommend but would also tell the server we had to be warmer.
We discovered a lovely gem in Nob Hill. We were a party of six and I wanted a quiet, intimate restaurant where we could have a conversation and actually hear each other. ( sometimes hard to find in SF). Th place was very small with only 6-8 tables, decor was charming, and the service was excellent. Best yet, the food was awesome. We ordered different items- the Pasta Puttanesca was authentic and beautifully prepared, the linguini with mussels was delicious and the carbonara was perfect. A few of us had desserts and they disappeared before I returned from the restroom. Highly recommend.!
I made the reservation because it was near "Paniqroom". I would go back just to enjoy the wonderful food, the perfect ambiance and great service. There were six of us and it was wonderful - service was spot on; fresh pastas were delicious; appetizers and wine list were great. I loved how comfortable and at home the restaurant feels. It really feels like you've flown 6,000 miles to Italy to dine with your favorite Uncle.
I liked the feeling of being in a friend’s kitchen. Small and intimate- which can be good and bad. Some of the other diners spoke loudly on cell phones the entire time. Took away from experience and possibly restaurant can set a policy. Good overall very tasty and service was warm and friendly.
Very small intimate restaurant. The food and service were great.
A nice little restaurant with authentic Italian food. The pasta was delicious and the service was excellent. It was also nice because we had not seen our friends for a long time and I could hear them without any competing noise....quiet and intimate. We'd go back the next time we're in the city.
Lovely neighborhood restaurant. The food is well seasoned and flavorful. My favorite dish was scampi risotto, which had such a nice light sauce and plenty of shrimp. Chianti by the glass was excellent as well. We will be back.
This is a cozy restaurant with only a few tables. The menu options are limited, but the dishes that we had were very tasty and satisfying. This is in a neighborhood with limited (no) parking. We took a ride share to and from, so it was not an issue. Oddly, there are no dessert options, but if you have a satisfying meal, I supposed you don't really need dessert!
Did dinner here on a Saturday night with a group of 7 friends. It is a very cozy environment and felt like an authentic family owned restaurant experience. The $15 corkage fee was reasonable. Everyone loved their food and came away very satisfied. I will definitely be returning.
