Collector's Cafe Ratings and Reviews
We came here for Valentine's Day and I was so excited to try this place out. Many of our friends had recommended it so we made a reservation for Valentine's. When we walked in, we were greeted by the host and were told our table would be ready in a few short minutes. There was beautiful artwork on the walls and a bar up front. Right next to the bar, it looked like they had added two tables in because of how crowded it was and I was hoping we wouldn't be seated right there because I heard the back of the restaurant was amazing to look at. Of course we ended up right at the front next to the bar. I was pretty disappointed with the because it got crowded so fast and people were basically right up against our table waiting to get a drink from the bar. Our reservation was at 7 (we were seated promptly) but it took almost an hour to get our food. We didn't mind a little wait, but an hour was a long time. When the food finally arrived, it was cooked to perfection and the food was very tasty. We felt bad wanting to stay for dessert and coffee because so many people had reservations and we didn't want to take up time at the table so we decided to leave before we could experience that part. The couple at the bar had a reservation at 7:30 and they weren't seated until after 8, so we didn't want to spoil anyone else's time.
Overall, the place was clean and very interesting with the artwork. I want to go back when it is less crowded but it is pretty high end so I don't know how soon we will go back. I would recommend this place to a friend because the food was truly delicious. I just hope the next time we go, we will be seated in the back dining room and not up front next to the bar.
I had been here once before and the food was amazing. So I was excited to take my wife to Collectors Cafe for Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, it was overall not a good experience. I made reservations 2 weeks in advance and we still weren’t seated for 20-25 minutes after. Our food didn’t come out for over an hour after we ordered and never once did our waitress acknowledge the fact that we just sat there for over an hour. We noticed several other empty tables with frustrated faces too. My steak was barely warm and completely dry on the outside (which equates to it sitting under a heat lamp for far too long). I’ve been around steaks my whole life, and I hate to tell you this Collectors Cafe, but that wasn’t even close to a $38 steak. Please go back to the old Collectors Cafe.
Collector's café is true to its name with art works covering each wall. Food and service is excellent. Well organized kitchen and front of the restaurant. Well trained staff that works in harmony. You'll never hear, "let me get your waiter." Person at or closest to your table will immediately attend to your needs. Limited menu works well with various entrée choices including vegetable dishes. recommend saving room for dessert. Many decadent desserts are available and prepared fresh. Difficult to get past the dessert counter without noticing what the pastry chef prepared to accompany that evenings meals. Excellent selection of wines, beers and cocktails. Cocktails are prepared to perfection.
This was Valentines evening. Service was very excellent. The sautéed scallop cake was outstanding. For dinner he had a shrimp and steak combo that was extremely well done. I had mahi-mahi which was a tad over done. All in all since we all know this is a busy evening we would definitely return.
It took an hour and fifteen minutes after ordering to get our food. Waitress kept forgetting to bring items to our table that we requested. Our food was only lukewarm when it was finally brought to us. Extremely poor service. I think the food was over priced. We will not go back after such a terrible experience
As usual everything was perfection. I had the scallops cakes as did my friend. That’s our favorite dish and it was great! Our husbands both had the salmon, and they were thrilled with their dishes . Didn’t have dessert this tine, but you really shouldn’t miss the dessert.
Love walking around and looking at all the art. My favorite is in a private dining room and it’s on the ceiling. This is a great restaurant, one of the best on the beach.
I really wanted to have an amazing experience here, given the high reviews. I was really looking forward to having dinner here for my 40th birthday with my family that came from Florida for the occasion. We made a reservation for 6:30, but after being seated we were told they had 2 large parties in the back and it would be a while. We were given bread but then nothing else. At 7:50, we still didn't have food or any idea when it would be coming. The waiter was kind, explaining how chaotic the kitchen was given the big parties, but no other concessions (not even more bread, or a complimentary salad, which wouldn't even require cooking) were made despite the circumstances. We decided that after an hour and 20 minutes, despite it being 8pm, we left without our meal. When you are spending $40 per entree, you shouldn't have this kind of experience. Exacerbating the pain of the experience was that I sacrificed my 40th birthday dinner with my family during their limited visit. Even when explaining our disappointment to the "manager," we were only told, "Sorry." This was an insufficient and unprofessional response to a management failure. Although this was likely an extremely odd occurrence, a truly high caliber restaurant would deliver a much more empathetic and service - oriented response valuing the customer for the potentially loyal relationship. This restaurant has a lot to learn from the Chipotle we visited after their failure.
i have been going to Collector's for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. The owner Tommie is an artist and brings in his showings and others in the areas to fill the walls for paintings that can be purchased. Chiefs are first rate and the services is fantistic
The restaurant could use an update in terms of window coverings and flooring but that is a suggestion to compete with some of the new trendy restaurants. I personally go for all the things i like and they are many
We love Collectors Cafe ~ ‘definantly one of our favorites. We go every time we are in town which is monthly. Thomas and Mike are always so friendly. I’m proud to take new friends there because they act like they know me 😉.
My favorite is their famous crab cake and my husband’s favorite is the scallop cake.
Enjoyed our favorite scallop cake appetizer with arugula salad and the even more delicious Crab cake appetizer (my new favorite). Had a nice glass of wine to enjoy, which made a perfect light meal. Anna was delightful! This is one of our favorite restaurants in Myrtle Beach and they take reservations. More locals than tourists, I believe.
Enjoyed the art work in each room....
food was worthy...especially the scallop cake....which I would drive 250 miles for...
the entrees are a little pricey, but not over the top...
had to track down the wait staff one time....found her texting on the phone.
Overall a very fine eatery and art shop!
I say go for it!
It was a special occasion (35th wedding anniversary) and Collector's Cafe made it feel special. They set us up with a table noting the occasion. We enjoyed walking through the restaurant with our drinks and admiring the beautiful art. We thought it was cool the way the restaurant was divided up into different bar/seating areas. The food was excellent and we will definitely visit again.
Great food, service, and atmosphere. We've eaten in wonderful restaurants all over the world and are careful about recommendations, but we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place for a date-night. Romantic, interesting atmosphere, excellent prime ribeye steak. The desserts are phenomenal!! Go and you will not be disappointed. Enjoy.
Over the years we have dined at Collector's Cafe on several occasions. While the food is consistently good and creative the pricing is a bit high. The atmosphere is a mix of fine dining and artistic. Paintings and sculptures are very interesting and entertaining.
This place was nothing short of incredible. The food was ridiculously good. Superb in fact. We found this place through TA. Came in from a kayaker by trip so weren’t dressed up which was a little embarrassing since it’s a fancy restaurant but it still worked out since you could tell we were tourists. My salmon was out of this world. And oh the Brussels sprouts!!! Appetizers were great also. You won’t be disappointed.
Food is really good, but a bit pricey! Everything is ala carte which increases the price! Parties on the other side of dining room were noisy and distracting! Looks like a good place for the locals to eat and be seen! Service was good but not always attentive! Server could have given more info than he did.
Have eaten here, as special occasion, on last five visits to MB. This was the first disappointment. First, there were less fish entree options than past (our view); second, did not see a healthy choice option; third, felt prices were inflated to prior experiences; fourth, service was average (no response to notice that celebrating two birthdays). The food was very good, (as have experienced in the past) including the appetizer and entrees-among four of us we had four different selections. All four of us (both couples) have eaten several times and all share these views-as we all are cooks, (gourmet of sort) and discuss what and where we eat.
Did not state would recommend, as have always done in past, because of disappointment of this occasion.
My husband asked me to write the review. For our 44th anniversary, unknown to me, he made reservations at Collector's Cafe. Red confetti hearts were scattered on our table. The food and service was great. I had the scallop cake...totally not what I expected it to be but it was delicious!! I highly recommend it! His filet mignon was wonderful, too. Great choice to celebrate our anniversary!
Collectors has always been the best fine dining restaurant in Myrtle Beach. Bar none. Others come and go but Collectors Cafe stays the course and provides outstanding food, a wonderful atmosphere, and excellent service. If you're in Myrtle Beach you should definitely go here.
