Collections Cafe Ratings and Reviews
I love going to the Collections Cafe, which is part of the Chihuly Glass Museum. The Cafe displays various collections from Dale Chihuly’s childhood, all presented in creative fashion. The food is always tasty, and if you haven’t been through the museum and gardens you’re missing one of the truly special highlights of Seattle.
My husband and I made reservations to eat here because we planned to see the Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit. The food was delicious and the service was good. The hot buttered rum was delicious! Be sure to check out the different collections located within the tables. Be careful if you sit at a table next to the window. People walk along the adjacent sidewalk and some demonstrate rude/gross behaviors. I was so disgusted I almost could not eat my lunch. Of course, this not the fault of the restaurant so perhaps you want to choose a table away from the windows if you have a weak stomach.
I hadn't seen the recently remodeled Café until this visit and it's nice! A bit more open and breezy feeling. The wait staff was very attentive to us and well informed about the menu selections. Food arrived in a timely fashion and my client and I were able to chat with little distraction. Nice seafood louis for me and burger for my guest. The burger - well, the bun, kind of crumbled, so he ate it as a deconstructed burger, with knife and fork! This is a lovely venue on the Seattle Center campus. Thank you!
Brunch at Collections was a hit for the birthday girl! We all had the delicious vegetable scramble and shared a biegnets & friit platter. Service was outstanding - professional, friendly and attentive. No wonder this is a favorite spot for Girls' lunches and pre-theater meals.
Good food, constantly changing menu, the proximity to all the venues in Seattle Center cannot be beat. Expensive, but the location explains it, I think. Recently, I have been dining in the glassed in area. Previously, I was afraid it would be too cold and austere, but no! It is now my favorite part of the restaurant. It is warm, inviting, and I love all the plants and the views of people passing by.
After our visit at the Chihuly Gardens we had a delicious meal at the Collections. Each of us ordered something different and all were tasty. My husband and I shared a huge burger and the quality of the meat was wonderful. We also shared a great chopped salad. It was a bit chilly, but they were doing their best to warm things up with a heat lamp, so next time I would sit inside.
Before or after visiting the Chihuly Glass Museum, you have to see Chihuly's eclectic personal, whimsical collections which help create the ambiance and decor of this great restaurant - Myriads of accordions hang suspended from the ceiling, his radio collection on shelfs line one wall; each table showcases "the littles" from pocket knifes all in rows, to tiny ceramic dogs, to sterling silver Mexican sombreros the size of one's palm, tin toys, transistor radios - each table displaying it's own "fascination". Although my longtime friend and I only had time for a quick bite, we tried the beet soup with blueberry salt accompanied by goat cheese stuffed pastry . . . and it was Amazing!!! There was a wedding going on in the Glass House to be catered by the Collections Cafe kitchen and all I could think was not only were their eyes going to experience a feast of splendor but their palates as well! Highly recommend!!!
We always love coming to the Cafe for lunch by ourselves when we're downtown or with out of town relatives or friends when they visit. The new decor is a little sterile for our tastes and we prefer the original dining arrangement which was cozier and more welcoming, but understand the need to redesign to accommodate various number of groups more easily. Too bad they couldn't have accomplished both with the new design.
The ambiance was terrific and the little booklet about the collections was priceless. The food
was great and just enough. I had made reservations on-line for a birthday dessert for my
husband but the waitress never got the message. However, she went into warp speed and came
out with a boxed cookie. Awesome
The food was good but not outstanding or great. Portions seemed to be on the small size for some of dishes for the prices. For example, the crab cake starter featured two very small crab cakes for $16.00...and by very small I mean approximately each crab cake was 1 1/2 inches across. The service was excellent, very attentive, and helpful. The complimentary birthday ice cream and warm, large chocolate chip cookie with a birthday candle was a very nice touch for our birthday gal. We enjoyed our lunch but I'm not sure that I would go out of my way to dine here again.
A great little location that made Sunday Brunch a delight. We had a table next to the window and enjoyed some great food and people watching on a Sunday morning. The decor is a lot of fun to peruse and the food was fabulous! Our server, unfortunately I forget his name, was very nice and full of personality.
Colletions is conveniently located on the Seattle Center grounds. I'd been wanting to try it for some time and when we planned to see a play at Cornish Playhouse, this seemed a good time to try it out.
Staff was attentive, hostess very cordial and helpful when I arrived early.
While my friend's burger looked quite good and was cooked perfectly, my chopped salad was very disappointing. For $16 dollars a large bowl of one type of lettuce, small chopped arrived. Four thin slices of avocado, finely diced preformed chicken, bacon bits and perhaps tomato. Hard to tell as everything was so small. The dressing was tasteless and unbalanced. Yikes. I was hoping for much better than this.
We went for Sunday brunch. The vegetable omelette was stellar. Our waiter was very accommodating when I asked if I could sub out the potatoes for something healthier. The potatoes did look delicious but I was happier with the small salad he brought. My sister's chop salad was very big and she said it was good. The beignets were a nice way to finish the meal and were presented with a generous selection of sliced fruits and for dipping, caramel sauces and white chocolate sauce....and a piece of honey in the comb.
The restaurant is being remodeled so we ate "outside", but the "outside" was closed in and heaters were hanging from the ceiling which made it cozy. The menu is creative and the food always very good. The service was amazing. I was very happy to introduce my friend to Collections Cafe, but I was sorry I couldn't show her the inside of the restaurant where all Chihuly's collections were as I'd told her a lot about them.
We (two couples in our 50+) were visiting Seattle and had our lunch there after Space Needle and Chihuli Gardens. That was a complete package! Very interesting decor of cafe with accordions on the ceiling and glass pieces inside the tables was in-style with Glass museum and Garden. Easy casual atmosphere, very good food and drinks - we liked it very much. Pricey, but a nice finishing touch for that area.
Terrific menu and well prepared dishes. It was hard to decide what to order with so many great, seasonal choices. The cheese curds are a definite starter MUST! Seafood Louie was delicious as was the house made gelato. The wine list was quite nice and fairly prices. The service was spectacular... we left feeling on cloud 9. We will definitely be back!
This was our third time to Collections Cafe. Each time we have not been dissapointed. This last time we were seated outside in the atrium area. The afternoon was hot but we stayed comfortable with the ceiling fans. Bumbershoot festival was going on so we could hear the music from that and it was great! We always enjoy the parmesan/garlic/rosemary french fries so be sure to order some extra to share! Our meal was served hot, meat cooked to our order and our server was very attentive during our one hour 45 minute dining experience. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal in combination with an exhibit at the Pacific Science Center (we were there for the Terracotta Warriors exhibit) or a concert at Key Arena. Let them know if you have to be at an event by a certain time and they will be sure to get your service taken care of with time to spare. Give it a try. You'll love looking at all of Dale Chihuly's personal trinket collections throughout the restaurant.
As one of our favorite, we often try to go on weekend when they offer in additional to the wonderful menu a fresh sheet.
We usually make our reservations to avoid long wait; which can occur without warning. The location is convenient for those going to the Seattle Center for any event, game, the Seattle Science Center or exhibit. It is easy to make reservation on Open Table.
The traffic delayed our arrival. About 5 minutes late, we rush to the reception desk. They already were expecting us with friendly greetings. After their flavourful green tea, my wife and I both had the halibut on the fresh sheet, what a delicious treat! The fish was fresh and melted in one's mouth. The sauce was Iron-Chef worthy. We then had their moist carrot cake for
dessert with just the right amount of spice and sweetness. Hannauh the manager with her beautiful smile always looking after the customer's comfort and need was great to see each time. We had Geraldo again who provided attentive service.
Most diners spend a lot of time admiring the different collections on the ceiling and those displayed in each table
Cannot wait to go there again soon.
Our lunch was delicious! The restaurant is filled with natural light, had a a nice summer menu and friendly wait staff. Dale Chihuly's beautiful & vibrant glass panels, and his neat collections framed in glass at each table - everything from 50s glass Christmas ornaments to cameras is wonderful!
His collection of accordions hanging from the ceiling is very cool!
We only had time to visit the cafe once during our stay in Seattle. We would have loved to enjoy dinner on the patio as well.
We highly recommend Collections!
We had an early dinner on the patio and were very pleased with the meal and service. We had the steamed clams, which were excellent, couldn't get enough of the delicious broth they were cooked in, as well as the clam chowder and burger. The Burger was excellent as well and the rosemary, parmesan, garlic fries were delicious. The featured pinot gris was great as well. Definitely recommend if you are sight seeing the space needle and museums in the area.
