Coliseum Pool & Grill - The Resort at Pelican Hill Ratings and Reviews
Mu friend and I really love this restaurant BUT our husbands would prefer a different place. Their problem is with the menu. My husband ordered the hamburger and it was still too much foodie food. Both of the men love the ambiance but wish the menu was more like Red Robin. She and I will have to go their alone.
My parents and I went for some lovely weekend dining and we could not have been happier. All of the staff was exemplary, the food was tremendous and the ambiance unparalleled. Needless to say, I will be returning often and recommending this to many who are close to me.
Had dinner on Christmas night with our family, then hotel lobby for dessert. All servers seemed disinterested and unhappy to be there. Very uncomfortable experience paying such high prices for food and drink, yet having to essentially plead for service. In general, all Irvine Company Hotels need to seek out training programs like Four Seasons or similar if they expect to keep existing price points. Food was average for holiday menu.
The view is gorgeous but the waitstaff is slow to fulfill orders. We waited about 10 minutes upon just to get waters, another 10 until someone came back to take our orders. It would be understandable if the place was crowded but it wasn’t. There were so many empty chairs and just a group of 4 seated next to us. Other than that, no other reason for the slow service. Food was ok.
My wife and I eat hear once a month as the ambiance is nice. I prefer the appetizers of calamari or tempura and any of the entrees. This visit I ordered the hamburger and was disappointed with the overall quality. However, normally I order an entree and have always been happy, both fish and pasta entrees are very good.
Great dining atmosphere. Kid friendly as well as date friendly. I signed up for their welcome appetizer offer and printed out the coupon but since I have the groupon, my server doesn't allow me to use the free appetizer coupon which I thought wasn't all too fair. Food tasted ok, not bad but more on the expensive side. It was a good experience but honestly without the groupon, I don't think I would come back again.
We have dined at the Coliseum a number of times over the past few years. We like the ambience and it is a great place to take out-of-town guests, although the per-glass wine prices are overly expensive. On many previous occasions there was a real disconnect between the wait staff and the kitchen. Our orders and options were often mixed up or just plain wrong. It would always eventually be sorted out but we often talked about how the food-ordering sequence needed an overhaul. This time our meals went without a hitch - everything was as ordered and we all thought the food was good. We are hoping this is a permanent improvement as we live nearby and will be returning.
We were visiting from Virginia and wanted a quiet lunch in a scenic romantic setting. This met all of that criteria. In addition, the food and wine were delicious. Our server, Angelica, provided us with fantastic service. We are planning on visiting Coliseum Pool & Grill on our next visit to Orange County.
Best Happy Hour in the OC. Half price drinks and shared plates with the most romantic sunset view. Hands down, this is the best place to watch a sunset, have a great glass of wine, and feel totally transported to some place in the rivera, perhaps even St. Tropez comes to mind. Just sure to come Monday thru Thursday between 3 and 7. Outside of those times, it is still a wonderful spot to relax and dine in a magical setting.
This place has really gone downhill over the years. It used to have great food and great service, and now both are terrible. It's like they're intentionally trying to fail. They took all of the good items off the menu, and the service is extremely slow. The only thing that hasn't changed is the nice view, but not worth spending that kind of money when you can go somewhere else with an ocean view. I wish they would bring back the quality and service they used to have.
We had a fun time dining here and will definitely be back! We sat outside and overlooked the beautiful pool and ocean and received EXCELLENT service! I do believe the food quality could have been a little better- I would not recommend the spinach and artichoke dip but overall it was okay. It’s definitely a fun place to visit and worth it for the atmosphere! After all- you are paying for the view!
This was a lunch with dear old friends who live in Florida. The menu looked interesting, but the food was indifferent. The club sandwich was awkward with bacon sticking out at various angles. The veggies in an item of veggies with hummus were peppers mostly. The vegetable pieces were not inviting.
My vegetables wrap was very bland although there was a small piece of portobello mushroom which was hidden.
The Caesar salad was good. The desserts we're good.
