This was most wonderful experience my wife and I have had.
The location and ambiance were perfect.
The waiter was extremely attentive and made us feel like we were his only customers.
Then the food arrived and took us to another level. We shared a Caesar salad that they graciously split and ordered Chateaubriand which came prepared perfectly.
We would recommend this restaurant any time.

Servers were very friendly but not well trained. Entre was delivered with no plates, steak knives or serving utensils and we had to ask the server for these items several times. They rarely came back, until the end, to ask if we needed anything. Very disappointed for a property like Pelican.

This is a repeat of the type of service we have experienced in the past and why we’ve not been back for months.

Mostly, food was good. Lettuce wraps not as good as expected. Wine list on general menu limited and overpriced. But ambiance and view makes up for a lot.

Went for lunch on Newport Restaurant Week and thoroughly enjoyed it. I ate off the regular menu, Club sandwich and a small salad, my wife had short rib tacos off the RW menu. Nice view from the terrace overlooking the circular pool and golf course beyond. Nice place, complimentary Valet Parking

With panoramic views on a large heated patio - I couldn't have asked for a better setting amongst new found friends. Our entire table dined from the Restaurant Week dinner menu, which included a few of their best selling plates. We were very happy with how everything complimented each other. Service was on par with the rest of the evening. Overall a pleasant experience!

Having dined here numerous times before, we are very disappointed with this recent experience. We feel the current level of service and professionalism is below the standard we have received in the past. Sitting inside the restaurant, tables piled with used plates sat too long as we repeatedly witnessed service staff walk by those tables empty handed back and forth. And our own piled up used plates were not removed in a timely manner. Our waiter mentioned endless mimosas with our NYD brunch, but fell so very short of refilling our champagne flutes that we had to refill our own from the champagne station. The presentation of the buffet stations were sloppy, some food items missing identifications, and were not refilled in a timely manner. Hot plates were provided for cold seafood and salads? We will reconsider returning in the future.

We sat for about half an hour without seeing any server. I finally asked about being served and they sent us a server. The server came over, and we placed our orders. He forgot to bring us lemon and honey as requested. I’m a regular diner and found the service crews are constantly changing here. Service has generally been slow but the view is always spectacular. The menu prices went up quite a lot this year.

Surprise!
Our server was so attentive---on Christmas evening! She surprised us with a piece of birthday cake for our son. She said she overheard us say something to him. Another nice surprise, a Hanukkah menu. We started with chicken soup and a couple of orders of potato pancakes, and were not disappointed. We usually go to the Coliseum for breakfast; but it was great to have someplace nice to go for dinner on our son's Christmas birthday!

For a casual lunch only. The $24 crab cake was a joke, the salmon salad was nice, the cheeseburger was average. Ambience too daytime casual. I won’t return again for dinner, maybe lunch but there are better options.

I have dined at this restaurant many times for special occasions etc. and I am generally very pleased, however, I dined over there with my children on Christmas Eve (12/24/19) and was very disappointed. Our wine order was delivered long after we completed our steak dinner. This was extremely disturbing and a major embarrassment for a restaurant of this caliber.

I have been to Coliseum several times before, however, was a bit disappointed in the food this time. The service was excellent but the food was underwhelming. The food quality has deteriorated quite a bit from the last time we ate at this restaurant. I am hoping it was just because it was on a holiday weekend. I love this location and will try it again, however, if the food quality does not improve will probably not go back again as there are many other resort restaurants in Orange County.

The ahi poke was very tasty and fresh. The margarita pizza was good (though a little small) and cooked perfectly. Our server, Karen was very accommodating and listened to our specific instructions. Love the beautiful setting of this property. We have stayed in the bungalows and dined there on multiple occasions. We brought our friends who were very impressed with the tranquility and beauty of the grounds and structures. We look forward to returning.

Been to the Coliseum more than 30 times. This is the first time the staffs under-performed. Service was very slow and not up to par for some reasons. Maybe overbooked or understaffed. Still gave them 20% even though they probably did not merit it.

We had enjoyed a salmon salad fo dinner a year ago for about 16.00. This time it was almost double the price. We wanted a table on the outer view area, and had to sit under an overhang with plants and columns in the way of the view.

I've been to Coliseum many times and have really enjoyed the food, great service and fantastic location. This visit was not good due to the service. The waiter dropped off our food and never returned. Very frustrating as the order was not correct. Eventually another waiter came to our table and took over. We were told our waiter went to another section. ???
