About Coldwater Cafe & Catering
This restaurant housed in a former bank building in the heart of downtown Tipp City offers quality dining in a small-town setting. The decor is warm and welcoming and is a delight for the senses. The fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere while the full bar allows patrons a relaxing stop while awaiting a fabulous meal. The inviting atmosphere encourages relaxed conversation. You may be surprised to find that a restaurant in such a small town has some rather sophisticated choices on the menu alongside your more normal fare, with entrees such as ostrich being offered. If you are looking for a decadent dessert, look no further than the butter-drenched English Tea Cake! An easy drive from all points in the Dayton area, words cannot do it justice. A visit is a must and will be the first of many.

Coldwater Cafe & Catering Ratings and Reviews
The atmosphere at Coldwater Cafe is always pleasant and the food always great. Their chicken salad is my favorite for lunch - tasty and filling, and all their desserts are delicious. Their English Tea Cake is to die for! It's a lovely place to lunch with friends or for a wonderful place for a special occasion dinner with someone special. I've eaten there many times and never been disappointed.
Coldwater Cafe has a refined country restaurant feel to it, not upscale but not middle of the road either. Food was very good and service was okay. Asked for booth, got table, and then noticed when leaving the booth we wanted was still empty. While friendly and neighborly wait staff, it quickly became evident we were not fine dining. For example, fork and knife not automatically replaced after salad, nor when dinner is served, you must ask for them. Very nice, cozy little bar area where the locals gather. In the end, my wife and I enjoyed the occasion and can certainly understand why the locals like it at the Coldwater.
Our party of 6 enjoyed a variety of entree's - I had venison for the first time and it was delicious, not at all gamey tasting. My husband had the special red snapper, two friends had the tilapia, another had the vegetarian lasagna and her husband had the ahi tuna salad. Each couple shared the special tiger shrimp cocktail with their excellent house-made cocktail sauce. All of us had enjoyed our choices, which isn't usual in a group of six diners. They have ostrich on the menu, which one of our group had at a prior visit and reported it is delicious.
Even with their front street torn up due to road work, they had great signage in the back to tell us how to get in. A waitress pointed us to the front and our hostess seated us. When we asked for a booth instead of a table, she immediately took care of it. Our waitress was very pleasant and found out we were first time guests ( she asked!) and told us about specials, and wine list. Our meals were served timely but not hurried and they were wonderful. The dessert menu is fantastic. Very hard to choose with all of the choices. The manager stopped several times to make sure everything was o.k., and our waitress did the same. We will be back and we will be bringing family and friends. Great dining experience.
I made a reservation online based on other reviews I read. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and I wanted a restaurant that has a special touch. We were seated in the vault which gave us a little more privacy. Our server, Rebecca, was very friendly and checked on us frequently. Our meal was delicious! Wonderful service, generous portions and fabulous food!
Our experience at Coldwater is always wonderful. The food is outstanding and full of flavor. The staff is always there to meet our needs and explain the evening entrees if we have questions. The music on Saturdays is there to make the evening complete. I have recommended Coldwater Cafe to my friends and will continue to come back to enjoy a very special evening out with my husband and friends. Thank you.
We are regular dinners at CWC...and Nick is the owner and Chef...our most recent visit was to celebrate my wife and my retirement day....as always the food and the service was outstanding...Thanks Nick for a special evening....with a special thank you to our requested server Kelly...we will be back soon....
We picked the Coldwater Cafe to celebrate our first anniversary . As with previous dining experiences we were not disppointed. We were enthisatically greated by out server and she quickly congratulated us on our anniversary. We started with the lobster cakes , while a little scrimpy for the prices, they were delicious. We both ordered from the specials, Copper River Ivory KIng Salmon for my wife and I decided to try something new and ordered the Rack of Lamb. Both were cooked to perfections and absolutely delicious. For dessert we shared the Elegant Chocholate Chesscake. This was "to die for". Overall, this dining experience was as good as every other one of our visits t the Cafe.
We celebrated our 38th anniversary at CWC last Friday. I made reservations on line and noted it was our anniversary. I do not recall if I specifically asked for a quiet booth, but certainly being our anniversary, the implication was such.
We arrived a few minutes early and were greeted by a gentleman starring at a computer monitor - no acknowledgement we were there at all. Shortly a young lady beside him said they would be with us in a moment - then asked if we had a reservation. I said yes and gave our name. The restaurant was surprisingly empty for 7PM on Friday in my opinion. We were seated in the very first booth off the lobby - nice booth terrible location for our occasion. I thought they did not get the message on our event,
Located in a former bank in Tipp City, this is a great place for some unexpected fine dining. The seabass main was superbly prepared and came with salad, starch and veggies. They have an extensive wine list that is well priced. Avoid the vault seating if you can. Feels cold and sterile.
We did the " Dinner in the Kitchen" What a marvelous experience. Five courses with wine pairings. The food was top notch and the service exemplary. The staff was knowledgeable and we were able to have some time with Nick, the owner and chef. A superb evening out for a special occasion I shall look forward to repeating.
I was wondering if the trip from Centerville to Tipp City would be worth the miles and time. It was and then some. I think this is one of the best restaurants in the Dayton area. Everything was top notch beginning with my cocktail through the chocolate mousse cake for dessert. Our table enjoyed the sea bass, lobster crab cakes, ostrich and scallops. Even the cucumber dill house dressing was a great choice. I don't think you can go wrong at Coldwater Cafe.
Classy restaurant with great food and service in a handsome historic building in the town named after the shortest-lived president in American history, William Henry Harrison, hero of "Tippecanoe." A piano and bass duo performs some of the most elegant live jazz I've heard in a long time. Lovers of Bill Evans and other jazz piano greats should hurry right over.
Our first time, found with O.T. We had very good service, and our table Wes visited twice by the chef. We were disappointed to find the catch of the day was gone before our 6:45 reservation, but made other choices which were terrific. Good choice of wines by the glass. Desserts were delicious. A great find when visiting Dayton. We'll be back!
