We really enjoyed Coda this past Saturday night. We arrived relatively early -- 7:30 pm -- and a great band was already playing. My husband and I enjoyed the food we ordered: delicious broccolini, moist & flavorful pork shoulder, an unusual black cod with polenta, and brown butter ice cream (the best!). Unfortunately, our dinner companions did not enjoy their order as much. One returned his fried chicken entirely, though the rib eye that replaced it was delicious.

Coda is a great place to visit for an evening of Jazz and decent food. I had been here a couple of times before and I would go back. The band that was on this last time I went was not as good as previous times, but I would not rate down the venue for it. In general the food and cocktails here are good quality and the ambience is nice. The venue can be pretty loud once the band starts pumping, so I'd recommend getting in by 7ish for some dinner and conversation and then later you can enjoy the band. You won't be able to talk easily while they are playing. If you are looking for something a little different, give Coda a try!

Although a somewhat limited menu, what they do do, is done really well. We really enjoyed our generous rib-eyes and the warm brussel sprout salad. I was concerned about having to rush because of the band, but it was just the opposite. We had a nice relaxing evening, topped off with some great music. For dessert we tried their house made basil-lemon sorbet. It was amazing and a perfect way to end a perfect meal, even if you are stuffed to the gills like we were. Coda has a generous bar area and the table seating is spacious so we did not feel crowded at all. Taking in the entire room, it was a lovely and warm sight. Not quite a throwback to another era, but close. Servers were efficient and all very nice.

The restaurant provides great music to go with the food. However, when I pay extra to watch the band I don't want people congregating in front of me and blocking my view. I spoke to the manager about this and he said that how it is here. Not acceptable.

Way too load at 140 decibles - we had to go outside to speak to the waitress about a very confusing bill. Food was OK. Band was not as advertised - instead of an African band with a dancer we had a DJ with 2 drummers.

Went on a spontaneous date here with my girlfriend. CODA always ends up being a little pricey (Honestly though it's not unreasonable. About $120 for the show cover, dinner, drinks, desert, and coffee). But we also always have a great time (this was our 2nd visit). We stayed for the show with The Afrofunk Experience and danced to some great funk/jazz/world-influenced music until we were exhausted! Great unexpected evening.

It was our anniversary and we had the $35.00 dinner deal. The first courses were really good but when the main courses arrived they weren't as good as we thought they were going to be. The pork had too much fat and the pasta was oily. The brownie dessert was good. Our server was great! He was very attentive and brought me a new fork for every course! The jazz band played around 7pm and was very good. If you go I'd suggest not going with the price fix but just order off the menu instead.

Pros: Decent (not spectacular) food, decent wines. Cons: Service was pretty slow and the band was way. too. loud. The ironic thing about it was that before they started playing, the sax player stepped up to the mic and said "Please, enjoy your dinner... we're simply here to enhance the ambience..." I've been to quieter shows at the Fillmore. This fact alone knocked this review down by a star. Attn: booking agent. Go see the bands at other venues before you book them for a restaurant. You shouldn't have to shout at the person sitting next to you, let alone across from you.

Please try the Pork Loin with cauliflower puree, this is hands down one of my favorite dishes. The food is excellent and service is friendly. I went there with my boyfriend for our "date night", thought to try something different, so I thought CODA would do the trick. Expecting it to be a bustling jazz scene, we were surprised to find it modestly visited. We were the only customers seated at a table for about 30 min, which was ok with us. Started with the heirloom tomato salad with pesto and a finely aged meat plate, which you would normally find at a French Bistro. Next up was seared scallops with grilled radicchio, and a Grilled Pork Loin with an out of this world cauliflower puree. D-licious! Give this place a shot!

I was fortunate enough to try out CODA on a night with a 9-piece big band - the band was tight, the food was good, the service was unobtrusive but helpful, and the atmosphere was truly special - an old-school supperclub vibe that was friendly and fun.

Solid food, soup was fine, but breading didn't adhere well to the fried chicken and didn't have much flavor despite being described as honey ginger. Drinks and desert were above par though. Good service though, but I was a bit suprises that cover isn't waived when ordering multiple drinks and meals.

A supper club, this is a fine music destination, especially on Sunday nights when Coda hosts a latin jazz music series. The food is very good, the wines well chosen for their menu and all reasonably priced. The music is very high end and very low priced for the high performance quality of the talent they present.

This is a jazz music / bar / restaurant. We saw an excellant set with John Ellis & Double Wide (tenor sax, organ, sousaphone, and percussion) with a great opening set with Lisa Engelken. The food was very good (gourmet cheeseburger, sauteed mushrooms, and good drink selection). A wonderful date night for those who enjoy dinner & music in a pleasant atmosphere. Not a good place for LOUD TALKERS :)

The small tapas plates were scrumptous & were perfect sizes. The cocktails were also delicious. The waitress Jaime was very courteous & attentive. The music that night (Aural Logic Sound (jazz/hip-hop fusion)) was amazing!! It's too bad they didn't have a bigger crowd but it was Tuesday night afterall. Keep up the great work because I will keep coming back!!

The dinner and service were fantastic, and, as expected, so was the live music. Sadly, we had plans so could not stay for the second performance, but were wowed by the opening band, as well as with the superb pork loin (with almond puree!) and the ribeye. We ended up ordering a bunch of starters as well as entrees that we shared in our group of four.

The food was excellent; the service was friendly, informative and attentive; and although the place was a bit empty, the overall atmosphere was enjoyable. The only bummer was that there wasn't a jazz band playing later that evening, but rather a hip hop group. Not that big of a deal, since we were really only looking to stay for dinner. All in all, an enjoyable experience.

The barrel wine was a good choice. The decor 'fit'. Overall we had a great time. However, I feel that if I am going to spend over $100 for dinner the show should be gratis. But I'm pretty cheap.

Food was ok and service was to be desired. I noted that it was my husband's bday(Olivier) and that was not acknowledged at all. I had to ask them to put a candle on the dessert and they did but they just dropped it off on the table and left( not even a greeting). My friends were hoping that the band could have played a happy bday song but they also ignored it. Overall, my we didn't feel special going there to celebrate his bday. We had fun because we were all together but other than that, it was just ok. It could gave been just another day out! I give it a 2 star- if that!

Some food portions were too small for the prices. The restaurant should be more generous. There are dining places all over the city that have comparable prices and are much more generous with portions.Example: I ordered an entree size Caesar salad, paid double, and it was small to my eye. Also, some waiters are too ambitious to clear away dishes too often making it stressful to relax. Let the patrons eat and stop asking if they are finished.

Fried Chicken was the entree and THREE pieces well cooked were served over a coleslaw with apples and a bit of vinegrette which balanced the fried meat. Excellent! Also, although I had a reservation for ONE, a friend arrived and was added without fuss and my request to sit where the band, Curtis Bumpy was playing could be observed was granted. All in all very fine!
