Several miles from the nearest coastline in landlocked Kenilworth, the Coconut Lagoon restaurant provides a little sun-drenched exotica for the beach-deprived diners of the Midlands. Located within the luxurious Best Western The Peacock Hotel in the centre of town, the Coconut Lagoon is comfortable and spacious, the dining room a vibrant, cheerful space where service is both efficient and friendly and the décor is representative of both the British taste for the modern and the sunny colours and warmth of Southern India. At Coconut Lagoon, diners are encouraged to forget what they think they know about Indian dining and embrace the flavours and aromas of the southern provinces of Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka. The vast menu reaches all the way from nibbles to be enjoyed upon arrival to desserts, a list that includes traditional Indian sweets as well as a couple of British favourites for the less adventurous.

My partner and I visited on Valentines Saturday, this being the third visit. We found the food excellent as always and the service was second to none. My only criticism and its a very minor one is that the may wish to change the menu now and again to offer more of a variety of choice for those that wish to eat here regularly.

My partner and I dined hear Christmas eve. Neither of us had sampled south Indian food before and to say we were pleased would have been an understatement. We found the food excellent also the service was second to none. All the food was piping hot and we did not get that long wait between courses that you get in some restaurants. The ambience of the whole place was excellent and it was very reasonably priced. We both enjoyed it that much that we have booked again for New Years Eve.

South Indian food is one of the great cuisines of the world, but you won't find it here. Friendly, helpful staff, but they need a chef who can cook well. The ambiance isn't great - a rather 1960's feel to rooms attached to a hotel.

Coconut Lagoon, Kenilworth. Lovely setting, great service. Tasty starter and pud but both main courses were really lacking in flavour and a bit disappointing. Would go again and maybe try something different as overall was a nice evening out.
