   Last Friday we dined at the Coconut Bay restaurant to celebrate our friend’s birthday. My reservation was at 12 noon for party of 3. When we arrived, I was impressed by the reception area. Gerry checked us in and I mentioned that it was our first time eating here. The dining rooms’ decorations created a particular atmosphere or feeling of Thai. We changed our booth table to a standard table. It was not crowded the day we dined. Gerry, the server, was very helpful explaining the lunch menu sets. Our eyes were on the Deluxe Lunch Set. He also clarified the type of noodles from Group A and obliged my friend’s request without egg. We ordered Highway & Drunkard Noodles separately. Then we had the same Tofu & Egglant from Group B order but I got the choice of seafood and my friends had the shrimps. The food arrived one at a time that was served similar to a bento box. The food had a harmonious blend of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy tastes. We asked for a bowl of steamed rice to complement our tofu & eggplant dish. We all said the food was scrumptious. Later Gerry came with a birthday cheesecake that surprised our friend. Our other friend ordered the same deluxe lunch to take home. Overall, the atmosphere or ambiance, food and service of Gerry & other staff are excellent. We will definitely go again!

   I am spoiled by SF Thai restaurants. Prices are lower but so is flavor. We both asked for spicy and had to add lots of peppers to even taste the heat.

   the food was great. however when i tried to use my dining cheque reward, they did not accept it, saying that they are no longer using the open table program as of yesterday (saturday night). However that night, i used opentable to book the reservation. i was very annoyed.

   I chose this restaurant to celebrate my brothers birthday and made a special note when I made the reservation, however it wasn't recognized at all. We had an early reservation and the restaurant wasn't that full. They had four waitresses. The waitress assigned to our table was very busy so we had a different waitress. We needed to ask for our drinks approximately 20 minutes after we ordered them and we needed to get the waitress attention each time to attend to our table. The entrees came out at different times. They ran out of several desserts and forgot one dessert order. Overall, the waitresses were nice when they were at the table, but the service seemed extremely disorganized. I did notice that they did service a lot of take out.

   For a while my husband and I have been searching for a new "favorite" Thai place and we may have found it in Coconut Bay. Our first visit a couple of weeks ago blew us away, the pumpkin curry and dancing prawns were awesome, last Friday was our 2nd visit and again we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The place is hopping and busy so a great ambiance, overall service is very nice, will definitely be back to try some other dishes.

   Although the food was good, the service was a bit slow - and it was a slow night. Try the papaya salad and the cashew chicken - both solidly done.

    The only downfall of the dining experience was an overzealous waitress who did not speak "understandable" english. She was eager which is good but her accent was so bad that we could not understand her. Also she got some of our orders wrong probably because she did not understand what we said and she did not ask us to repeat what we said.
