I love this restaurant but the last time I was there they ran out of plantain chips. The time before that they ran out of rotisserie chicken! Also sometimes their maduros are not sweet which is a shame because then they are not as satisfying. If they can nail down these things then their menu would be great.
When we arrived no one greeted us at the door for our reservation, we were just told to sit down. I was very disappointed that the menu I saw online did not match what was available to order inside the restaurant. When I asked the waitress about those specific items, she told me that it was only available online. When I got my entree, I was very dissatisfied with how dry the rice was and my shrimp lacked the proper seasoning for a Peruvian restaurant. Also the banana chips were stale. Honestly the only thing I enjoyed were the drinks. I don’t plan on returning.
excellent ceviche, amazing paella and juicy chicken.
This restaurant is closed. Why didn’t they notify open table? I made a reservation for Saturday, 2/16 at 7pm. Pulling up to the restaurant and seeing that it’s closed and trying to make a reservation with another restaurant is not an easy feat at 7pm.
I will not try your restaurant when you reopen. Terrible customer experience.
Made a 7PM reservation on Open Table for Valentine’s Day but upon arrival found that the restaurant was (temporarily or permanently?) shut down.
We had our reservation confirmed but showed up and the place was shut down. No call or anything and it was Valentines Day.
The restaurant was very cold and therefore we were unable to enjoy the dishes.
The skirt steak was amazing along with the services... I will def come back
Amazing, my new favorite spot! Can get pricey but worth it.
Food was exceptional! Pisco sour is prime. Stick to menu cocktails though. That's what their best at.
Always a pleasure; food and hospitality are unbeatable.
It's my second time dining at Coco Roco and I was not disappointed. Food and service are consistently very good. Their dishes are freshly made and very flavorful. If you like a drink, Pisco Sour is a must!
Most of the the meal was very good, only the ají de gallina was somewhat dissapointing (sauce was kind of liquid instead of creamy) . Delicious black paella and octopus, and chicharrón de pescado was delicious too. Great desserts: flan and churros.
The food here is incredible, and I'm peruvian. The only 'issue' is the menu is somewhat limited, but what they have is delicious authentic peruvian.
Food was very good. The music was a little too loud.
Excellent food for great prices!!
Food was good, service not so much.
I ordered an entree sampler platter and the waiter didn't bother to tell me when/after I ordered or after it was served that one of the main items was unavailable. I had to call over the waiter who sheepishly admitted his mistake however had no idea why it was such a big deal. The manager was called over and he offered to make it right by whipping up a creation, however what was served was frozen vegetables shoved inside an empanada shell. When the manager realized this offense he offered me and my wife drinks on the the house, which we declined but he brought over anyway. I wished he had enough sense to comp my meal instead, which he did not, which was the final outrage. This was not my first time there but it will be my last.
Had a reservation and was immediately brought to my seat!
The food here is delicious. The problem is always the amount of time it takes to get served. We waited 30 minutes just to get a small appetizer of ceviche. The restaurant was not busy at all--there were 4 other tables and more than enough waiters idling about. And this is a continuous problem as this is my 3rd visit to this restaurant and it is ALWAYS the same issue with wait time on food. I came back because i really love the food here but the amount of time it takes to get your food is ridiculous so don't come hungry as you WILL be starving by the time you get your food.
Had a reservation for a party of six and they did not have any table ready until twenty minutes past it. Food was amazing yet the service was the most horrible I have ever had in a real long time. Considering we spent with tip over three hundred dollars, I was severely disappointed. It’s a pity considering the food really was good. I usually take other people’s reviews concerning the service with a grain of salt, but now I truly understand what other reviewers across other sites meant. Considering we were wedged between two bars, the drinks alone took thirty minutes to arrive, just to give anyone reading this a small taste of my dissatisfaction.
Everything was fabulous!
This is our first time there and it took 1/2 hour to get our food. People who came in after us were served way before us. When we made a comment we were told they would modify the bill but did not until we reminded him. The manager was apologetic. Wait staff needed to be called every time we needed another drink. He was not readily available.
Food was very good. We all enjoyed our meals very much though some had to take it to go since we were going to an event.
We would go back one more time as it could have been an off day.
The service was so unbelievably atrocious that it was hard to see beyond it.
The food was mediocre.
When we asked to order more appetizers ( they were good), we were told that wasn't possible because our entrees would be ready before a new appetizer order would be. Go figure that reasoning.
I had to talk with 3 folks who appeared to be employees before I could even order a second drink. After our entrees were placed on the table our waiter disappeared until he came back much later with the check. We protested having to pay the tip charged due to the horrid service.
Food was tasty but overpriced, the ceviche was good but too small for the price. The chicken was amazing. The service was not too good, we had to ask the hostess for more green sauce because even thou we asked our server...he didn't came back.
I would probably go back for the chicken but I'll get it to go.
Staff was very friendly.. Margarita drinks had good flavor.. Price of food very reasonable..
Food & drinks are always great!!!
Great neighborhood asset. Pollo a la brasa with that good sauce:)
Me and my wife have been trying to find a good Peruvian place for sometime and are glad we came across this place. Very good food
Excellent halibut ceviche with pozole. The mixed seafood ceviche was good, but not excellent. I ordered pescado sudado and my wife ordered a whole fish fried. Both plates were done the right way. Our friend had a 1/2 chicken and a meat dish. Nicely done all of them. Definitely will go back to try other dishes.
BEST fried Red Snapper Dish in the WORLD!!!...I'm ALMOST embarrassed by the way I clean my plate...lol...I said ALMOST.
Good, tasty local place, but make sure you have a lot of time to wait for the food because we went in late hoping to miss the lunchtime rush, but saw 8 tables with people waiting for food as we waited. They were not full, but I suggest the kitchen work a little harder because it took 45 minutes to get our lunch and no bread or reason for the delay was offered except that when we asked, we were told the food was coming... 15 minutes later? Can't imagine what it is like when it is crowded?? Or in the evenings because we were there at 1:30...But they do have a good lunch special menu and the food was tasty...
This place needs a major update in decor. Chairs are old and worn out. The device is very good and friendly. Pisco sour drink is some of the best I ever had. Vegetarian platter is delicious but boiled potatoes with cheese sauce are bland.
good Peruvian food. love the pescado a lo macho and the ceviche. great spot in park slope.
It was over 100 degrees in the restaurant - unbearable - and the staff didn't care at all.
The food was absolutely delicious, and the cocktails perfectly made. Huge portions for reasonable prices and a lovely wait staff.
As a peruvian myself, I'm very critical when it comes to eating at peruvian restaurants. So trust me when I say, the food at Coco Roco is nothing but delicious! The ceviche was delightful and the anticuchos were a must! You'll get hooked on the aji verde (green sauce). The staff was extremely friendly! We had a nice waiter named Pedro who was funny and nice! The only downside was that some of the portions were small compared to a few years ago. Other than that, it was great!
Interesting menu, great food and drinks, friendly service!
