Coco Pazzo - Tremblant Ratings and Reviews
Over the years I have enjoyed dining at this restaurant. The food is always good and the atmosphere is fun. This most recent visit was very good except the waiter behaved a little strange. His service was sloppy, i.e. He banged the water pitcher on the table. Served most of the wine bottle to the adult children instead of the parents. He was nice but seemed distracted. Maybe sleep deprived.
Coco Pazzo used to be a "mandatory" place for dinner for my wife and I when visiting Mont-Tremblant. I'm not so sure anymore. After many years, this was my first sub-standard experience. I cannot put my finger on any specific thing, other than (1) My wife and I used to be welcomed warmly when arriving for our reservation, which didn't happen this time; the Maître D' seemed harried and distracted; and (2) the music playing, mostly incorporating a heavy bass beat (maybe suitable for the bar area?), was totally out of keeping with what I have come to expect from an upscale, but relaxed, restaurant serving local fare with an Italian flair. Maybe the new management is experimenting with a new formula? I'm just not sure if it is my formula anymore.
Ate here twice while vacationing in Tremblant. Once at the bar, once at a table. Service was wonderful both times. Gluten free knowledgeable and widely available. Ate the cauliflower cream sauce w pasta both times and wasn’t disappointed. You might ask for it to be cooked al dente to avoid the inevitable mushy gluten free texture. Loved this place and would eat here again in a heartbeat!
Best restaurant in Mt. Tremblant, Canada. The chef is all about cooking with fresh whole foods and organic meats and very conscious to offer Gluten Free pasta dishes. They will easily accommodate any changes needed to a recipe for allergies. Friendly environment. We went twice while visiting Canada.
We went here Christmas night for dinner. The service was excellent. The food was very good although i felt it was overpriced. The appetizer portions were small although the main entrees were not. All in our party thought the food was excellent. I had the fish special & was a bit disappointed. For a ski resort this is a very nice place to go for a special dinner. I would not come here with small children.
Room for Improvement
Coco Pazzo does many things right but in other ways it misses the mark. The atmosphere is very nice, modern, hip, very comfortable. The service is very good and it's in a fantastic part of the Ski Village, location, location, location. But when it comes to the food it's hit or miss.
My wife ordered the Linguini Pescatore and it was just amazing. The flavor was this sensational savory manage of clam, garlic, anchovy and wine. It was sensational. I myself had a New York Strip Steak, not my favorite cut but it was a great piece of meet, cooked to perfection along with the accompanying, zucchini.
Now where it all goes to crap is the Calamari starter was no better, if not actually, frozen breaded squid fried up and served with a marinara sauce. I mean it was the worst. And the potato mash that came with the steak was nothing I could even remember except that in itself took away from the great steak and zucchini.
Okay, I get it, it's an Italian restaurant so perhaps potato mash isn't really their specialty, regardless, if their going to go for the gold with some of there dishes the bring the others up to snuff because your only as good as your weakest link. Great potatoes are easy, ridiculously easy. Battered fresh squid in a semolina, cornflour, flour, salt, peppercorn mix, served with coriander, lime, chili is easy too.
They either hit it out of the park or strike out.
Coco Pazzo didn't blow us away when we visited for a special occasion. Our server was excellent - but that was the only stand out feature of our visit. The smoked tuna was interesting - pairing it with beats and avocado was somewhat creative but we didn't love it. Calamari was uninspired and could have been from a grocery stores freezer. Lamb was good but not great. Nothing criminal just didn't blow our minds.
Host and wait staff were cheerful, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Lovely terrace in a quiet area of Tremblant village, beautiful interior. Everything we ordered was excellent, with several locally sourced options. The wine list is remarkably extensive. Despite it being in the pricier range, we're planning to go back soon. The menu choices are all hearty fare and portions are generous, but keep room for dessert!
We were surprised by the quality of the food as well as the service provided by our waiter. The location was excellent. The décor was appropriate. The atmosphere was excellent as we were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. Overall, very good and have already recommended your establishment to others.
They have an excellent knowledge of Celiac disease and accommodated us so well. It was the best experience we have had in a restaurant since our diagnosis. They understood and treated us so well. What wonderful staff. It was a pleasure. The owner takes great pride in her restaurant and it show. Best gluten free meal he has ever had in a restaurant. Our meals were very tasty as well.
Although staff was friendly, service was extremely slow. Our waitress was doing a lot of talking and very limited servicing. (Not sure whether this was due to a slow kitchen or a slow waitress)
Food quality, with the exception of their signature seafood pasta, was sub par.
Outdoor seating is great.
Our table was ready on time and we were directed to a booth which we asked for. The menu is basically standard fare and decently prepared, however being an Italian restaurant it was lacking in originality. I got the impression that a proper Italian chef should be in the kitchen ensuring that the true flavours of the pasta dishes are enjoyed the way they should be.
All good mind you but nothing that we cannot prepare ourselves at home. Going out for dinner, especially at today's prices at a nice restaurant, our expectations are somewhat higher. The portion sizes were good, that is just enough to enjoy without feeling full. I would say that our waitress was excellent. Jovial, attentive and and helpful.
Actually all of the staff were pleasant and made you feel comfortable. The only thing I would say would be to not market the restaurant as Italian. It's more basic than that.
What a great dining experience. We were 4 adults and 2 infants. We started with calamari, insalata coco Pazzo and the beets and all 3 were superb. Our mains were lamb shank, gnocchi and spaghettini and all dishes were amazing. We had 2 bottles of red white with great recommendation from our server. We would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant highly and cannot wait to come back.
Overall, the experience was great and the food delicious. However, we had a reservation for 8.15pm, for which we booked well in advance, and only were given a table outside at 8.45pm. It was our second time at Coco Pazzo and we would go again if in the area.
We had a pleasing meal with our family, met the owner and enjoyed two unique offerings (stuffed fried olives and a dense but not cloying white chocolate cheesecake). The one issue that should be mentioned is lack of wifi which threw our kids off their game. T'would be better to have it or leave any youngsters who are major screen dependent at home.
