Dinner was delicious! I had their house dish, Coco cassoulet, and it was perfect. Staff was very friendly. Service was very good. They also have a nice martini menu.
Great source for continental cuisine in Buffalo. Mussels are always a hit, and a select but well-rounded wine list is always on point. Nice atmosphere, and great service as well.
Food was good but nothing came out hot.
Great food. Great service.
We had a reservation. Given that we were in the middle of the dinner service it is not surprising that we had a moderate wait, about 15 minutes.
Once seated our server was prompt and helpful throughout the meal. We had been planning on regular entrees but seeing all of the mussel dishes, we opted for mussels and a pizza. The pizza was very good and the mussels were wonderful. We will definitely return and as much as I would like to sample the rest of the menu it will be hard not to order mussels again.
My only criticism is that the dining room is rather loud when it is full.
Great service. I had to change my time by 30 minutes and the restaurant was very accommodating. Our sever is one of the best I ever had. We will be back.
First impression was stained cushions on our chairs. They then said that they couldn't honor Open Table coupon because they were no longer a participant. After much discussion, they finally agreed to do so. Loud group at nearby table didn't help. GF option was fair at best.
A very nice French Bistro featuring mussels and trout in a variety of recipes along with standards like Steak Frites. We enjoyed our meals very much and the service was excellent. Prices are quite reasonable and it has a cozy atmosphere. A very nice place to go. And I forgot to mention great french bread.
I had the Poulet Nicoise. Hard to eat, tough chicken, did not like the dark sauce it was in, very disappointing. I’m not a connoisseur and I rarely don’t like a dish but this was - for me - awful. My dinner companions all enjoyed their food. I said nothing but left a lot on my plate. Service was great, ambience lovely. Noisy after it filled with people. Couldn’t hear my friends.
Had a really nice dinner date with my wife. Mussels were delicious!
Loved the lamb lollipops!! The arugula salad was great too! We will be back!
We went for Coco's mussels festival, which allows mussels-lovers to have as many mussels as they like for a set price of $25. The mussels came in a variety of tasty sauces and were good, though not very warm. The restaurant was very busy and it seems that the wait staff and kitchen staff were not prepared for the rush -- even though Coco does this twice a year. Our friends' mixed cocktails were very good and they have a limited but excellent selection of wines by the glass and in bottles. Also good beers. The non-mussels food is basic bistro fare and is pretty good. The restaurant itself is very convivial and welcoming.
One thing that could improve -- training of the wait staff. Our waitress did not know what the chicken of the day was, although it is listed right on the menu to ask your server. Also, maybe because of lack of training and maybe because of lack of sufficient staff, the service was pleasant, but very sporadic.
The ultimate place in Buffalo for moules! Great special going on now!
Our appetizer was undercooked (lamb). Server offered to take it back, but by the time she came back to check on us it was already too late and our meal would be coming out shortly. I wish they would have taken the appetizer off of our bill because we left a good part of the appetizer that was not cooked properly. We were expecting more menu choices for French cuisine. This restaurant was definitely not as good as Rue Franklin that closed a few months ago.
we came sharp at 6:15 before our theatre performance at 8:00 pm
We barely made it. Service was extremely slow even before ordering. The place was terribly cold and drafty next to a door that was locked. The soup was very good, however served in cold bowls. The trouts two people had were outstanding, fresh, crisp no bones! The sole just the same nicely arranged (however all plates were not warm enough ). The most expensive and really horrible was the duck: half a small duck deboned (may be steamed,) but not roasted, covered with "mud" bath of duck confit and sprinkled with paperdry brusselsprout leaves one could not chew. The glibbery duckfat under the soft skin was appalling. The meat however nice tasty , juicy and COLD! The whole plate again was not preheated.Kudos for the sweet potatoes at the bottom(cold). I just hope that the chef had the flu that day as an excuse for the terrible worst duck I ever had in my life!!
Coco is a decent place, but that’s all.
Nice place, ambience and location. However something plastic was burning to the point of instigating conversations between tables as to its origination and concern.
We order Mussels and Lamb For apps. If you’re a place staking your rep on quality mussels- make sure they’re not gritty- that was a miss. The lamb was good but nothing special.
Entrees- Steak and Cassoulet. Steak ordered MR- delivered at well. Big miss. Cassoulet was a “round the spectrum of temperatures”. Some of the dish hot, some room temp and the sausage still partially frozen. Bigger miss. It was a long wait for the main course and then we had to flag down other wait staff after wondering why we served subpar dishes some 5 minutes later.
Bigger miss yet they did offer free glasses of wine.
The pluses are the steak frites are amazing and, though there was some slipping with both, the staff and atmosphere were pleasing. The menu is what it is- review ahead of time. Not a bargain or extraordinary by any means... but not bad either. C+ kind of place.
We were there for Valentine's Day. Special menu provided excellent choices and the service was top notch. We plan to return and bring some friends.
C'est magnifique! My husband and I love this place. We were here for Valentine's Day and enjoyed every moment. We shared Mussels Provencal and a bottle of French Rose. Then he ordered the trout and I enjoyed le poulet du jour, Chicken Josephine. The food was delicious and the waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable.
Everything was wonderful. From the creative cocktails at the bar, to the delicious food and thoughtful service, it was a great experience all the way around. This is one of my favorite spots in Buffalo for a special night out.
I had been to Coco last year and really enjoyed it.
This time, it was just so-so. The service was very slow (albeit very friendly) and the wines (2 different bottles) we had were nothing special. Also, it was a cold night and being seated toward the front of the restaurant, we were chilled every time the door opened.
Fantastic as always. Coco never disappoints. The service is great, food is always on point. We'll definitely be returning.
The service was great, and the food was fine, but we spent far more than we intended, and definitely more than the food warranted. We won't be back for awhile unless it's for happy hour and snacks.
The food was wonderful from the pizza as an appetizer to the trout. The waitress was excellent. We would definitely return.
Service was terrible. Several patrons went in search of a server. Can you believe that?! After the meal arrived we never saw the man again. We flagged down the hostess to bring the dessert menu. They brought the wrong dessert and had to be returned. The potatoes my daughter ordered with her meal were watery and tasteless - definitely boxed mashed! The bread was hard. Very hard. I liked the mussels that I ordered and the dessert was good - when it finally arrived. Personally I would not return to this restaurant.
I love it at Coco. Third time here and it didn't disappoint. The building (interior and exterior) itself is gorgeous. The decor is perfect for the spot. It's cozy, intimate~ has a nice big bar (and games at the bar-how nice). Our server was so sweet- didn't rush us at all. Our wines were all good (nice list) and our food was all delicious. We each ordered a different salad and each one of us loved them. My brussel sprout caesar salad was delicious. We ordered the mushroom pizza to share and it was amazing. The portions were perfect. The prices were reasonable. I highly recommend it at Coco. Oh, our flourless chocolate cake was to die for!
The atmosphere and decor were quite pleasing and our server was quite pleasant and helpful. My wife enjoyed her chicken cordon bleu ( special that evening) very much but my steak frites, a popular choice from the standard menu, got mixed reviews from me. The hanger steak was flavorful but a good portion of it was way too chewy, and the accompanying rosemary frites were crispy and hot but I couldn't detect any rosemary, a disappointment. I would definitely return here as there were other items on the menu I would like to try.
We ended up sharing a gourmet pizza and a dinner special chicken cordon blue. Both were amazing! The atmosphere is perfect for a date night out or just with a group of friends. Friendly staff and awesome bartenders .
The food and service was excellent. Arrived Buffalo after a long trip and needed a quick good bite to eat before a 2 hour drive. The service was fast and the food was excellent. I had the steak frites and it was perfection. The ambiance was very relaxing. I will definitely come back when next in town.
Lovely evening Wine was awesome although a bit pricey. The salads were awesome and reasonably priced
Interesting menu. Was a great choice for a business lunch.
Great food great service great atmosphere
Second time at this restaurant. First time, outdoor seating, ambiance and service was wonderful which lead to another visit. Second time, (inside seating) not as wonderful. Still enjoyable but had a hard time reading menu because of lighting and service was only fair. Nice waitress but she wasn't very attentive. As far as lighting was considered, my suggestion would be leave that alone but make the menus easier to read perhaps by darkening the print to make wording stand out.
Will try restaurant again - bar area looked lively and food was good!
Always a great meal and ambiance at Coco! The menu is very approachable with a french influence. The decor is inviting and relaxing, especially great for date night.
We were a group of 10. Service was outstanding and very accommodating. Food was exceptional.
The food was delicious, and I highly recommend the fries (sooo good!). This is a cute, cozy little bar/restaurant that feels like a neighborhood stop, but is upscale enough where you also feel like you're at someplace special. I'd highly recommend Coco for a date or a place to stop off and get some drinks, but unfortunately, after coming back late to the office because of our "extended" lunch, I don't think I could recommend the restaurant as a good place for a business meeting. Our food was extremely slow in getting to us, as apparently the kitchen was "backed up," according to our server. Not sure how an established restaurant like this didn't expect a crowd of people at lunchtime during the holiday season, but our server checked in on us repeatedly and management did a good job of diffusing the situation by apologizing and compensating us accordingly, so they get major kudos for customer service/satisfaction.
Great staff/service. Wonderful food and atmosphere. I don’t think you’ll go wrong here. Get the malva for dessert!!!!
We had an enjoyable lunch at Coco's for a holiday group lunch. The service was very good, except for the absence of spoons with hot tea and coffee service. The food was excellent. One issue is that it was very cold in the room, cold enough that some people kept their coats on. This should be corrected somehow in the future. Overall a good time was had by all.
Amazing mussels and perfect portions. Not too much but too little.
Coco is one of our favorites when we want good food in a good atmosphere. Getting there a little early for our reservation is always fun, as we get to sit at the bar and chat up the friendly bartenders. Meal time brings a myriad of choices - all of which are delicious and reasonably priced.
Service is excellent, tonight we had Destiny behind the bar and Caitlyn taking care of us at the table.
We definitely recommend Coco's to everyone looking for a nice night out.
We always enjoy our meals at Coco. The food is consistently good and I can say that because my wife always has the same trout dish. The Brussels Sprout Caesar salad is a winner, as is the regular Caesar salad, and the fresh warm bread with white bean puree. I had the Onion Soup Burger and it was one of the best burgers I have had in a while- and their fries are better than most. We split a fantastic dessert very similar to English sticky pudding, but with an African name and seasoning. I've often felt the service could be a little better, but always friendly and professional, just a little slow at times- especially getting that first drink order.
