It is a very nice place. We arrived earlier than we planned but they were very fast to find a table for us. We had the chance to enjoy the happy hour deals what were very nice. The only thing is that it was a bit to loud, maybe because of the happy hour though. We enjoyed the food, the drinks and the ambience.
Had a yummy mother's day lunch in the freshly painted and updated Barrio. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic authentic Mexican food we have found in the area.... will be a frequent stop
Something has changed since our past frequent visits. The paint did that's for sure. Management, chef, the whole staff? Not sure. We were seated promptly and water was offered. We placed our drink and appetizer order. Fresh guacamole showed up and soon later, so did our drinks. We placed our order and ordered another round of drinks. When food arived..30 minutes later.. We had gotten chicken strips and cheese tortilla for my son, lime shrimp skewer and crab taco for my self and shrimp taco and steak taco for the wife. Shrimp were well garnished, warm on the outside, very raw in the inside. Same with wife's steak taco, chewy raw steak chunks. Not pink, red. I dont understand because it only takes probability a single whole minute to cook the steak bites for the taco and another whole minutes to cook the shrimp so they are eatable. Took some time for server to come back so I could send them back to have them cooked more. I'd say 20 minutes later, our table has been cleaned of leaving only a fork and towel. Another 20 later here comes our "well done" shrimp and "Medium" steak taco. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I maybe would go back in a year to check if anything has changed. But for now, not recommended by me.
Great location in Edina at the heart of 50th and France. There was plenty of seating and the noise wasn't too loud, but still enough so you didn't have to whisper to be overheard. Our food was excellent and the service was great!
My friend and I went here for lunch to celebrate a birthday. The service and food were excellent! I believe the interior has been recently remodeled and it feels open and clean. It was nice to sit at a high top by the window and watch the neighborhood.
Biggest mistake was eliminating the Gringo taco from the dinner menu. The Gringo taco was by far the best taco in town. I have friends out of state who come to Barrio for the Gringo alone.
Please bring back the Gringo taco, that was the definition of an amazing taco!
Food was great. Server was efficient and timely but very rude. Ruined the overall experience because we were uncomfortable the whole time.
Met my cousin here on a Monday night. Parking was super easy for both of us -- on the street and in adjacent bank parking lot. Our server was wonderful -- very friendly, funny and attentive. The guacamole was great, and my ahi tuna tacos were perfectly prepared and delicious. I didn't realize the taco shells would be so thick and deep fried -- and I ended up not eating that part. But I'm sure others would enjoy them. Would definitely return!
My husband and I go regularly. He gets a salad, I get the corn chowder, then we try several small plates to share. We've never been disappointed.
The food was better and the service [Gustavo] was the best we've had here in recent memory. It was a great happy hour experience--even with the off-menu orders.
Everything seemed so desirable, the building the vibe the decor the aroma, but the food just did not have it. A party of 8 only 2 liked what they had.
Fast food and tasty. Friendly staff. Kid friendly
Wonderfully consistent food no matter the time. What’s always impressed me: never thought of needing salt, pepper or hot sauce to improve dish - they are perfect from the kitchen! Nice servers; quick bar service.
The margarita's are always amazing and the food is really good! But, during this visit, we all thought that our food was outstanding!! We had the fish tacos and pork tacos, and they were amazingly good! Thanks!
The food was great!! Amazing chips and guac!! Totally amazing margarita!! Great spot for getting together with friends or going out with family!
service was poor, waitress pushed the drinks on us and wanting to take our glasses before they were empty, felt very pushed to keep ordering more drinks . we were seated near the back and the lights were very bright, unlike the front half. food was great and so were the drinks
A group of high school classmates with spouses met for a Saturday night dinner. Although our group was 10 people, Cocina del Barrio had no problem handling either the drinks or dinner orders. The noise level was moderate and we could converse with each other without a problem. The made-to-order guacamole was fabulous and chips were refilled when empty. Everyone loved their choices from the taco/enchilada menu. And the cilantro rice was yum! The Trinity margarita did not disappoint.
We have been many times, always a good experience. Flavors are incredible!
Music was on the edge of heavy metal which makes it few more like noise than a festive atmosphere. Our guests kept joking about or mocking the music. Embarrassing as this was our choice of restaurants to which to take them.
First time there. Easy to find location, got loud quickly after 6. Good food and service. The frajolie is good. Small plates with sides add up quickly price. Will go there again.
Food and drinks were good as always. Waiter didn’t have a friendly bone in his body and the overall experience left much to be desired.
We always love to visit Barrio. Very tasty food each time we visit and casual atmosphere great to hangout with friends!
The food and service was excellent!
Food and service was excellent.
Great place and the tacos were fantastic!! They also have some really great dishes in happy hour and the staff is super friendly and attentive!
We love coming to Barrio! We were excited to try their new drink menu. Both our drinks were incredible. Their tacos are always great, you really can’t go wrong with any of them and the chicken tostada is my favorite! Their executive chef, Andy, delivered our food to our table and it was a nice touch. He should have a personalized chef coat to wear!!!
Our server, Mel, was most helpful and well-informed. The food was quite good and reasonably priced. We were there at 6:00 on a Saturday and it was REALLY noisy, which was a bit of a drawback.
Food is always great, exceptionally good service the night we went!!
Had to remind the waitress of part of our order. All items ordered came out separately so eating together in terms of timing was difficult.
Great margarita's and guacamole. Hubby and I shared two "small plates" and enjoyed those as well. We were seated at a high top near the bar and the only downside is that it was very loud inside and somewhat hard to carry on a conversation without leaning over the table....
EVERYTHING was delicious! Flavorful and portioned to perfection!
Overall, the food was delicious and the service exceptional. I ordered the steak taco and mushroom enchilada. My husband had the shrimp skewer with a side of rice. The shrimp was a small plate, which meant only shrimp (maybe 5?) and no side. The margarita was very good, but small - I thought - for $11. Our reservation was for 7:30 on a Friday evening. At that time of night, the noise level was so loud it was nearly impossible to hear the couple seated across from us. We were in the back of the restaurant - away from the bar - but it was still extremely loud. If we go again, it will be for happy hour or lunch, but we'll definitely avoid the busier times.
Bad food. Great service
I love Barrio! The food and drinks are always amazing. I was a bit disappointed in the hostess. I was there with a friend and rather than seating us at a comfortable booth she gave us seat in the bar area. It wasn't busy either. Next time I guess is should ask for a better location.
Great food. Slower service but we weren’t in a hurry, so not a big deal. Kinda loud in the bar area and didn’t even have the Dodgers game on. Come on! It was game 6!
Nice spot for late night dinner with friends
Fun night out with friends. Food is tapas style portions. We didn’t like that they charge you for each batch of chips they bring you, when there was still plenty of guacamole to be eaten.
Drinks okay. Food okay. A very average place to eat.
Barrio is a local favorite. Lots of small menu items means you get to taste a variety of the great dishes on offer. Inventive cocktails and ridiculously huge selection of tequila and mezcal. Fun place with friends and also kid friendly. Attentive service always.
