Great experience as usual. Sean does an exceptional job.
Always love this place... but this night there was a birthday party in the back room which was very close to our table. They were periodically pretty loud - clapping and singing and partying. I visit this place often and it is always a higher level of sound but this was pretty overwhelming to be honest. Not sure what they could have done about it though...
We still had a very good meal with our group and I wouldn't expect that craziness every time so I will be back.
Very happy to get in with just about 2 hours notice on a Saturday night with 7 people. Good place for larger groups I'd say.
One of the best happy hour deals around! I tried 3 of their tacos and they were all excellent and dirt cheap!
Great service and food. Guacamole seems smaller and drinks were weak but tasty. Really, really loud at high top in the bar area, which made it hard to chat but lively.
Vibrant, traditional Mex-Mex a la carte menu; delicious tacos, tamal, guac, salsa, sopas; reasonable prices; pleasant servers. Will return.
We went to celebrate a birthday with part of the family (6). Had made reservations and were seated right away. Service was on the spot but not overly bothersome. Drinks, apps, and then dinner...all were excellent and tasty. I'd go again!!
Excellent service by Brad. Food was fabulous. Guacamole and warm chips were great starters as was the queso fundido. Pork carnitas taco was savory and grilled shrimp entree with quinoa salad exceptional. Good place for any occasion.
Great place for guacamole and a couple of beers. A bit on the noisy side but conversation is still possible in a booth. Friendliness of servers very uneven.
Great margaritas and tapas. Was nice to have some good Mexican flavors. Tres Leche cake was delicious. Thanks to Recommendation from our waiter Matt.
Always a solid effort - friendly service, tasty margaritas, and inventive food!
Very accommodating staff, food was delicious, wine very good. I will go back!
Bar was slow. Server was good. Kitchen was amazingly fast.
Great shrimp appitizer and steak and fish tacos.
Terrible service. Worst I’ve ever had. My friend and I ordered margaritas and guacamole. When we indicated that we were likely only getting that, our server showed his disappointment and let out an audible “oh...” After that he never came back to see if we wanted more drinks or to fill our water. We later decided that we wanted tacos and he was again noticeably disappointed that we each ordered one taco instead of a $15 entree. My friend noticed him glaring at our table later. I really have never experienced such rude behavior from a server. Finally, he said he needed to collect his check because he was leaving soon. We continued to see him in the restaurant for 15-20 minutes after that before he left. I think he may have just been trying to get rid of us.
As always everything was awesome. Fabulous staff fabulous food and fabulous location. Yum
Barrio is one of our favorites. Sometimes the noise level can be over-the-top, but otherwise we enjoy the energy and LOVE the food. Its a great place to feel like you're out at a hip bar, without the hip bar pretentiousness and prices.
As usual, this place is busy and fun. The food remains very good and the bar is good too. I enjoy the small plates and mix and matching with the tacos. It was very busy when we went this last time and is why the service was not as good as usual. I am sure to come back soon.
As always, our service was excellent and the food was great. The tacos are good and the guac - excellent!! We'll be back to one of our favorites.
The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We will be back soon.
This place is nothing like the Barrio on the Nicollet Mall. The food is overly salted, not plated in an attractive manner, a real disappointment.
The offset room at the back that was great for our group. We were somewhat separated from the main seating area, but still felt like we were in the restaurant. The service was excellent and the chips were had for appetizers were delicious. Most of us ordered two small plates for dinner so we were able to try more than one thing and the prices were reasonable. Also there were many variations for margaritas.
Food was good and fresh. Spoonful of guacamole wasn’t near enough to share among four people. Service was ok, although food did come out hot.
Very quiet for a Sunday lunch. Service was spotty as server didn’t even ask what we wanted to drink. Tapas style service was new for us and doesn’t work well with kids to get meals all at different times. Fish taco and chicken enchilada were very tasty. Would probably return on an evening to appreciate ambiance better.
Simply the very best Margaritas available in the Twin Cities and a great atmosphere for drinking them! The food is a bit expensive for the small portions, but well made.
Love Barrio! The Enter the Dragon margarita is a fav as well as the Chicken Tamal. YUM-O!
We had a reservation at 6:15pm on Tuesday, 12/26 for three. Our server had the personality of a stale pancake and obviously did not want to be there. My drink was slammed down on the table. It was obvious that his shift ended because we had to finally ask another server to help us after three hours. I really wasn't impressed with anything about this place.
I asked to be put in a quiet area via Open Table and I could tell the host didn't read my note. The restaurant was wide open and she could have picked a nicer table since we booked ahead.
Great food. Great service. Great selection. Enjoyable place to get together with friends.
This was the second time I've been here... the concept and food choices are great; the service this time around not so much so. We placed a drink order almost immediately upon seating and I ordered a beer, which was brought to me 15 minutes later in the bottle. I asked for a glass and waited another 10 - 15 minutes, after which the waiter brought me a dripping wet, soapy glass from the kitchen. I ignored that and took a clean glass from the adjoining table. Another 10 - 15 minutes to get our food order taken... chips ran out and we asked for more and were told that would cost additional $. We said that was okay. Yes... 10 - 15 minutes later more chips arrived, seconds before the food arrived. At one point someone who looked like the owner walked around and spoke to staff sitting or standing alone; he looked at us and neither smiled nor said anything. Made me feel there was a major labor or management issue happening that all guests that night had just happened upon...
Really good food and service. Good value. Warm atmosphere with a low buzz but not too loud. Not your typical Tex-Mex or Mexican fair. If you like Mexican and want some very good food that’s fresh and different, stop by. We’ll be back for sure.
The food here is amazing and they have great cocktail options if you like something more than traditional options.
Server was very attentive, the guacamole "Wow-ed!" Everything fresh and flavorful. Perfect food for a chilly winter day!
Kind of a mess and seemed to have trouble cleaning up empty plates and bringing more drinks. It's always a bad sign when you start stacking and tidying your table because you're tired of staring at dishes
Great guacamole and a fun list of drinks. The servers can be slow because it is busy.
Ceviche was first rate rest was mediocre including the margarita. Surprising given the owner. Perhaps off night
Food was wonderful and servers were friendly and attentive.
All four of enjoyed our meal. Menu is perfect for trying different kinds of foods. Loved the tacos.
Each plate is so tasty, it's fun to try different things each time. The ahi tuna taco is always my favorite.
We went to Barrio in Edina on a Friday night after making a reservation through OpenTable. It was very busy, with a 30 minute wait if you didn't have a reservation. We arrived about ten minutes before our reservation and were seated immediately.
The decor creates a nice ambiance, but it's definitely loud. Tables are fairly close together but I not awkwardly so, in my opinion. Our waiter brought us water right away and we ordered drinks, which took forever to come because there was a birthday party at the front of the restaurant and they had just placed their drink order, so it was nice of the waiter to tell us.
We ordered the chicken quesadilla to share and it was SO good! When our drinks finally arrived (Mama Cita and Mexican Mule) they were also delicious. I ordered a gringo taco and a grilled chicken taco, and I would order both again! My husband and the steak taco and an enchilada, which he also enjoyed. Other than the slow drink service (which was understandable given the large party up front), we had a fantastic experience!
