Cocina Abierta Ratings and Reviews
We had the most amazing dinner, and tried a few of the recommended dishes. Everything was perfection, from presentation to taste. I have dietary restrictions, and the staff were knowledgeable and accommodating, which is huge for me! We will definitely be frequenting this lovely spot!
Inventive, playful riff on local cuisine. Dishes had a well balances and interesting palate. Excellent in concept, execution, and presentation with a friendly and professional staff. Entirely unexpected, and a wonderful evening. Octopus and duck plates were standouts. Reminded me of Jaleo in DC if Jose Andreas was a young chef starting out.
I can't gush enough over this restaurant. Nice, central location in Condado. The food was delicious, fresh and creatively prepared. The staff was kind with a great sense of humor - we just wanted to invite our server to sit and hang out with us. She was patient with our questions and dietary preferences. The Salmon Wellington, ceviche with watermelon, hamburger, risotto and filet mignon were all exceptionally prepared. Save a little room for dessert - the molten cake was heavenly. And I can't forget the cocktails. All were chilled and well balanced. Truly one of the best food experiences I've had in my travels.
I love Cocina abierto. this was my third time there and the food, as always, was amazing, the only negative is that it is REALLY loud so its hard to have a good conversation; but the food and service are so good that this would never deter me from visiting or recommending it to someone else.
We were staying in San Juan before a cruise and decided on this place 2 blocks from hotel after looking at the menu on line. It was one of my better picks! Considered going back there the second night we were in town. Probably should have. With my back issues, I did find the bench seat a little hard and uncomfortable.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Puerto Rico and in general. I love bringing my friends here because it's always an amazing dining experience and the service is top notch. However this past visit was a miss for us. The first course was great but the second course was dry and overcooked. The seafood Bouillabaisse was tough and chewy, the short rib was dry throughout and my duck was well done and had to be sent back because I like medium rare and I've had the dish before and I know how delicious it is. They kindly prepared another one and that was cooked perfectly. Over all we were a little disappointed with the last visit, but nonetheless we will be back and I still recommend this restaurant for a date, special occasion or just out for a nice meal.
The food was wonderful and lived up to the reviews. Two issues which would keep us from going again were the volume of noise - it kept getting louder as the evening went on. People had to talk louder and louder to hear each other. Perhaps that works for some, but it's not conducive to conversation. Second - the wooden bench and hard chairs are uncomfortable and not really fitting for an upscale restaurant. Seem more designed to make you want to get out sooner so that the tables could be turned.
