Cocina Abierta Ratings and Reviews
I love Cocina abierto. this was my third time there and the food, as always, was amazing, the only negative is that it is REALLY loud so its hard to have a good conversation; but the food and service are so good that this would never deter me from visiting or recommending it to someone else.
We were staying in San Juan before a cruise and decided on this place 2 blocks from hotel after looking at the menu on line. It was one of my better picks! Considered going back there the second night we were in town. Probably should have. With my back issues, I did find the bench seat a little hard and uncomfortable.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Puerto Rico and in general. I love bringing my friends here because it's always an amazing dining experience and the service is top notch. However this past visit was a miss for us. The first course was great but the second course was dry and overcooked. The seafood Bouillabaisse was tough and chewy, the short rib was dry throughout and my duck was well done and had to be sent back because I like medium rare and I've had the dish before and I know how delicious it is. They kindly prepared another one and that was cooked perfectly. Over all we were a little disappointed with the last visit, but nonetheless we will be back and I still recommend this restaurant for a date, special occasion or just out for a nice meal.
The food was wonderful and lived up to the reviews. Two issues which would keep us from going again were the volume of noise - it kept getting louder as the evening went on. People had to talk louder and louder to hear each other. Perhaps that works for some, but it's not conducive to conversation. Second - the wooden bench and hard chairs are uncomfortable and not really fitting for an upscale restaurant. Seem more designed to make you want to get out sooner so that the tables could be turned.
The food was absolutely amazing! We had burrata, two kids of pork, tuna, salmon, scallops, beef Wellington, mofongo, and short rib (there were 5 of us). I would highly recommend everything! It was all so delicious and the service was amazing as well! Thank you Alberto!
This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I am not someone that complains usually since I own a few restaurants in NYC. The food was decent but everything lacked. Service was literally worst than McDonald's in the Bronx. Farewell cocina abierta, very soon you will be cocina cerrada.
We love this restaurant. Gourmet food at a fraction of the price as what the top hotels would charge. Great selection of wines by the glass. We come here every time we are in town. Fun ordering 4 courses and tasting so many different dishes. Also nice it's very casual. Ambiance is trendy.
Whether you are at the family table with the LARGE lazy Susan on a table to 2 you will enjoy.
It is all so good. Share everything so you can taste more.
Love the wine paring options of a 3 ounce pour or a 6 ounce pour...
Very GOOD Espresso Martini
Hope they add a Chocolate Martini Option to the Menu soon.
This was truly a dining experience! They serve essentially an a la carte tasting menu, where you can choose plates for each "act". We ordered 6 dishes total and every single one was delicious and very creative! Our hands-down favorite was the salmon of the second act. Also highly recommend the braised short rib and duck confit mofongo. Even the dessert was great! Overall, it was a flavorful and tasty experience.
Very happy with our dining experience at Cocina Abierta! Sat outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. Service was excellent and food was very tasty and filling. Chose four menu options and it was more than enough but the food was so good it was hard not to finish each plate. The cocktails are very well made. If forced to choose, would pick Cocina Abierta over Marmalde but can't go wrong with either.
