At our restaurant we create and interpret the culinary ideas inspired from different cultures, products, and techniques. Our always evolving menu is a result of the interaction and interchange of different experiences.
An open kitchen, eclectic and without limitations.
Because cooking is our passion.
Historically cooking evolved through the interaction and exchange of cultures. Through this premise and advances in technology our project, Cocina Abierta, was born, designed for the sharing and development for our passion.
Cocina Abierta is a restaurant and school.
Portions small - tapas like but pricey ; not real value for money. Service was decent.
Food is awesome but portions small and expensive... recommend going with friends/a group, as the menu is set out for sharing.
Everything was great!
We’ve dined here many times...for both lunch and dinner service. Always fabulous food and good service. But this time...it was truly EXCEPTIONAL. Not sure if we just ordered better? Maybe because we were there very early (right at noon as we were heading to the airport for a 2pm flight) so everything was super fresh? Whatever the reason, Concina Abierta, once again, delivers a truly outstanding meal.
Espectacular comida , combinación de sabores pasando de lo
Liviano hasta los platos
Más fuerte , ampliamente recomendable
Excellent experience with great service and food.
Pure luck we found this place, but it has been the highlight of the trip. Amazing high end Puerto Rican food. But not very expensive
I find the menú overstated and overpriced. It’s not bad, but lacks technique and balance for the level it wants to portray.
Innovative and delicious! Service was outstanding.
Thank you for sharing your experience, JRNYC!
Fish of the day was delicious ($42), but the chicken entree was rather plain and tasteless. The wine pairing was fine. We expected at least a slice of bread on the house with the meal, but you must pay for absolutely everything. Service was excellent as it should be at any high end restaurant.
Overall, the experience was underwhelming. We will try one the hundred restaurants in Condado and Viejo San Juan before we come back to Cocina.
The food was very good & staff was extremely helpful & friendly.
Excelente comida y servicio, la combinación de sabores excelentes
Our dishes ..the appetizers empanadas, the green curry seafood and the ginger chicken thighs entrees were very satisfying to the tastebuds. Very nice experience all the way around!
Hello Laurie, We're delighted your experience at Cocina was memorable. Hope to hear from you again soon!
My husband I went here for the last night of our Puerto Rico vacation. The bourbon drink and appetizer were outstanding. We then had the goat cheese ravioli and lobster thermadour. The ravioli was served room temperature and was very bland. The lobster entree was $75 and a very small portion. It was ok but not outstanding. Definitely not one of our better meals in Puerto Rico, especially when considering what we spent
Great food and ambience Variety of food for any appetite
The most amazing dinner and amazing service! This was my second time here but my boyfriends first time. Our server was attentive, kind and very helpful! Thank you for an amazing first night in PR!!
Excellent service. The food never disappoints!
This restaurant is nice and conveniently located right in Condado.. however the presentation was a bit much with the "5-act"menu.. the food is not well explained in the menu and is really just an overrated Tapas restaurant. We ordered 3 items and dessert. Each item took 15-20 minutes each to come out. We got the fried zucchini which we didn't know was fried and i forget the actual name but from the name you would never think is really just $16 carnival food. The lamb was really good but the duck mofongo isn't anything better that you can get at any local PR restaurant for half the price. Overall this place needs to stop smelling it's own farts and just make it more simple.
Very nice food, service also outstanding! Great place to have dinner and a good time!
Hello Alexis, Thank you for joining us; Hope to have you back pretty soon!
Amazing! Loved the family style aspect and the progression of the dishes! Best food we ate the whole time in Puerto Rico
Excellent service the food was good and the ambience was great.
This was second time at this restaurant and it had to live up to very high expectations as last time it was superb. It was still good and most dishes were excellent but service was not as knowledgeable or helpful as our trip in January. We will return, however, as it still great food!
Lovely restaurant. Really inventive menu and pairings. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was perfect, very attentive and friendly. The portions are generous. The food is very elevated and delicate. The decor is brutalist, everything is concrete, steel and hardwood which makes for a noisy space. We would definitely come back.
They advertise that they are open unrtil 12:00 a.m. and reserved for 11:30 p.m. They cancelled the reservation because they were going to close at 11:00 p.m.
They must change their business hours so people dont waste their time counting to eat at their place at a certain hour that it's not going to be open.
We apologize as our operating hours should be updated to avoid misunderstandings. Would like to clarify that we didn’t cancel the reservation. Our host called around 7pm to inform of our closing time and to accommodate you at an earlier slot. Your response was that you were going to arrive at 11pm and you never arrived. Although a mistake from our end, it is a bit unfair to rate our ambiance, service and food with 1 star when you did not dine with us. Best regards, Arturo Campos Manager C|A.
Absolutely amazing in every way - food, drinks, service, ambiance! Definitely add to your list of places to dine while in PR, you won’t be disappointed. Was visiting from Seattle and can’t wait to dine again when I’m back in town. Highly recommended!
Nos encantó! Fuimos al brunch dominical. La comida riquísima, variada, con ingredientes de primera y todo hecho en casa. Hasta beef Wellington, que me encanta y estaba riquísimo.
Terrific green curry and local seafood. Tasty ravioli. Perfect focaccia. Beautiful presentation. Staff knowledgeable and understanding of excellent service and experience. Go. Eat. Excellent buy.
We visited Cocina Abierta on a Thursday in September, so the restaurant was not full. The decor is quirky and interesting - the tables well spaced. The menu changes each week, depending on the market. I had a red bean soup (delicious) and the fish special with a tamarind sauce (outstanding). The fish was one of the best prepared fish dishes I have enjoyed in years. Service was attentive and friendly.
Buena comida, excelente servicio, agradable personal. Lo disfrutamos mucho.
Hands down, the best meal we’ve ever had. Fine dining quality food, without the insane price tag. 10/10 recommend...we WILL be returning on our next visit!
A "must dine restaurant" when visiting Puerto Rico.
I've eaten at Cocina Abierta at least 8 times with family and friends. i have never been disappointed.
The food was sensational, from flavor to presentation!
Fantastic, as always!
It was amazing! Every course was delicious and our server was great....would recommend this restaurant as a must do when in San Juan!
Rhis is from everyday dining to date/special occasions. Food is superb, lovely plated, good portions and priced accordingly. Highly recommended.
Love that has vegetarian options as well🙏🏼❤️
Offers truly inventive cuisine in an energetic, no frills atmosphere. I was guided by a knowledgeable server through the menu, which presents selections in five "acts." I thoroughly enjoyed the tuna on a sheet of platano with a variety of accents. Then I tried the "roots" vegetable assemblage, which was beautiful and remarkably diverse in the flavors it presented. The mofongo with Peking duck, pork and platanos was memorable. The two wines that were paired with the tuna and the mofongo were perfect. Service was pleasant and attentive. I came away satisfied, feeling as though I had made a new friend. I will return.
Hello JimBo, We're in awe! Thank you so much for joining us and highlighting your favorite dishes. Hope to hear from you again soon!
Excellent food - from their in-house focaccia, to their octopus causa, to their drinks...And the place has a very robust brunch...and the interior design is on point if you like that darker hipper vibe. Will be returning.
This was my second visit to Cocina Abierta and it was amazing. The food extraordinary, the service helpful, attentive and friendly and the overall experience a pleasure. The dishes were all made with careful attention to balance of flavor and texture, and the portions were generous for the quality. We shared our dishes including mofonguitos, Caribbean lobster thermador, and gnocchi. The dishes are organized into “acts” so your meal begins with light dishes and progresses to more robust flavors and more substantial plates. We would have loved to try their desserts, but even though we shared all the dishes, we just didn’t have room. Our server introduced us to Martin, the owner/chef who is an absolute gentleman and artist in his craft. We look forward to our next visit!
Our rainforest hiking (and rappelling) guide recommended this restaurant and we are so glad he did! We ate there one week ago, August 4th, on our last night of vacation.
Service was outstanding as were the drinks and food!
We had ceviche, tuna tartare, octopus and Lamb Wellington. It was all delicious and the presentation was awesome.
