Cobalt Grille Ratings and Reviews
Dropped in for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Wine selection was excellent. Turkey with all the trimmings was very tasty. Lauren, our waitress, was friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. Our table for two was secluded and romantic.
Looking forward to Christmas dinner with Cobalt Grille.
Have always had a good experience here but not this last time. Waiter seemed very inexperienced. He forgot to bring bread when it was asked for and basically shrugged it off when he remembered. Our friend received cold mashed potatoes, sent them back and the replacement potatoes were not hot. He gave up on them. It was sad because we had always liked this restaurant.
My wife and celebrated our 7th anniversary at Cobalt Grille and it was perfect. We started of with wine, we weren't sure exactly which red wine we would like, we described our taste in wine to waitress and she made the perfect recommendation. For our main course my wife had the new York strip and it was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. I had the lamb chops and they were just as amazing. I recommend Cobalt Grille for any occasion the food and atmosphere are great.
Lovely atmosphere, great service and food. We went for burger night and enjoyed the bacon blue cheese burgers - perfectly cooked beef on a brioche bun - yum. Nice selection of wines by the glass. Service was also perfect - our server was attentive and friendly.
I ordered the New York Strip steak because I had not had a steak in a long time. When I received the steak which was $29 I was just a little put off that the side was French fries. That would have been okay if the steak had been good. It was riddled with gristle and mostly tough. Very disappointing.
The service was excellent.
The food was also excellent. I had a flounder special served on potatoes with a light cream sauce that couldn't be beat. We shared the fried green tomatoes--generous and delicious.
The Colbalt Grille makes a great effort to please the eye as well as the pallet.
Slow, that's how we can describe our whole evening. Had a 7 o'clock reservation and was seated but did not get our drink order until 7:45
Our meal was not served until 830, the waitress said she was sorry there was a large order ahead of us . I think she had a group in the private dining room as well as our table. We rarely saw her. The food was just OK.
I'm going to give this place a rest, the menu has not been changed in the several years that I have been coming here. If you doing not eat beef or fish there are very limited offerings.
The food was okay. Nothing spectacular. My wife and I went for our anniversary, and we weren’t blown away. Everything was seasoned well and tasted good. We got the crème brûlée, while it was good, it was a bit yokey. The server admitted to being short staffed. We probably waiting 5-7 minutes before we got some water and got the server to acknowledge us.
We went out for an impromptu date night and CBG is a go-to when we want a nice evening with wonderful food. Our server Brian recommend the soup on special which was roasted corn and poblano. If they could jar that soup and sell it I would by it for life! We are never disappointed with the quality of our food, the freshness of ingredients or attentiveness of the staff.
We had made our reservation specifying our anniversary on open table. I modified the time once & somehow the note did not translate the special occasion. Their private tables were booked so we thought we were out of luck. The owner was nice enough to give us the chefs table. Private & overlooking the kitchen. Very appreciative. The service was great and the special was amazing. We'll be back.
The Good: Great décor, service (Mike was awesome!), drink menu (martinis), gourmet burgers, very clean and classy
The Not so Good. Ordered lamb and duck. The lamb was ok but chewy and didn't really have full flavor/seasoning. The mushroom and parmesan risotto that accompanied it was AWESOME! The duck was ordered to the chef's recommendation which was medium. While it had good flavor, it was cooked closer to medium-well but had a nice crust. It was served over a bean stew that had sausage and vegetables. Overall not an appealing dish to look at because all the colors were very bland and earthy. The only color were the few carrots in the stew. In retrospect, I'm not sure why there wasn't a starch to speak of on the plate. Three different proteins (beans, sausage and duck) and a few veggies (there may have been some small dice potatoes in there but it wasn't significant) but no pronounced starch like a rice or fingerling potatoes. I will say that each component had decent taste but overall, eaten together, it wasn't a success. A slight modification might have been a stew of medium diced potatoes and carrots, red and yellow bell pepper and no sausage.
Bottom line: I said I would recommend to a friend because it appears they really push and specialize in gourmet burgers. While we didn't try one I would go back because they looked amazing. Cobalt wasn't bad but there are so many other options in the area that provide better food that I would pick them over Cobalt.
