My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. The food was amazing! The staff was attentive, fast, friendly, and accommodating. It is on the pricey side but WORTH every cent. We will definitely be back.
Disappointed in the food this time. Given the high cost, this should, of course, never happen. Service was excellent, as usual.
We have eaten here a few times and each time we have been happy with the service, the food, and the ambiance. The food is varied and fresh with vegan options. The fresh guacamole is great and they make it to order right at your table. An overall great experience .
Excellent food & service at Coasterra... my son enjoyed the experience.
The view from the restaurant is excellent. The food was fair to good. The staff was friendly but they were a little disorganized . I would give it another try.
Great views. Great setting and very nice restaurant. Service was "OK". But not anything remotely close to anything traditional Mexican food on the menu. I'd rate it as a bit "exotic" for its own "flair" on its dishes. I was hoping for a traditional Coctel de Camarones, and then maybe a seperate diner menu with shrimp, but choices are few, found it heavy on ceviche choices, with an emphasis on calamari in the ceviche. We struggled on what to order. Food was good, but just good. We had high hopes, as we looked on line and clearly saw an old menu, so for this visit, we left a bit disappointed.
28th wedding anniversary
Great food, super service, lovely views. My only disappointment on this visit was the carnitas chilaquiles. Yes, I know the dish has LOTS of tortilla chips, but I really had to search for the carnitas, whis is delicious. Perhaps the chef could develop another dish highlighting the carnitas. 😉
The Thanksgiving buffet was plentiful and it was really good ... unfortunately things weren’t warm enough to start with and by the time we got back to the table to enjoy, a lot of the food was cold. Service was friendly and prompt.
We went for the Thanksgiving buffet on a rainy day with our son who was visiting. After some discussion, we were seated at a lovely booth near the bar area with a view of the skyline and bay. The weather cleared a bit so we had as good of a view as was possible that day. The servers were excellent, friendly and helpful. The buffet was set up outside the ballroom; had to walk down a service type of corridor with a bit of a cool breeze. But there was plenty of good food with lots of interesting choices. The options concentrated on main course dishes rather than tons of appetizer/salad dishes. This was good because we didn't fill up before the entree (well, maybe the cornbread with maple butter...). The array of mini desserts was great. We've been to several holiday buffets in San Diego and for the price ($65) this was a great choice.
The service was poor and the food was fair.
The quality of view is great. The quality of service, great. The quality of the food varies by what you order. I have had the yellowfin dish (great), carnitas (good), and carne asada (meh). If you do not want blood red rare carne asada, order it medium to medium well. Have to say, yes, I'd recommend to a friend, but I'll probably not be going back for a while.
We loved the food and the view.
Coasterra never disappoints! The food is consistently amazing and the restaurant has a perfect view of the San Diego skyline. Typically a “first stop” when arriving in San Diego.
Service was really nice, quieter than usual, it wasn’t very busy. Food was delicious.
The location is stunning, and the service was very friendly. The gaucho mole was superb. My tuna was almost raw and quite tough and not very tasty. My date’s cauliflower was excellent, and the desert was outstanding. Unfortunately, The main courses arrived while we were barely starting to eat our gauch.
So a mixed experience.
Incredible views of downtown San Diego. Service was very good. Had several servers working with our table. Checked on us throughout the meal, but not too much. Table made guac was fresh and delicious. Food presentation was obviously a big consideration and executed very well. Overall recommended.
The most delicious food I've had in ages, in a beautiful setting. I went there again twice during this trip to San Diego.
Nice atmosphere for everyday dining or a date night. Great view of downtown San Diego! Service was excellent and the food even better.
This is high end Baja inspired food. My dining partner and I loved everything from the oysters to the main course. I was tickled to realize that my scallops were served with pork belly and pineapple. And I thought scallops could not be better than the perfectly cooked ones on the plate! The salmon was superb and the tuna tostada was amazing. Even on a rainy night, the view was awesome. Go!
Not impressed with menu. Never the same. Can’t plan on anything specific.
Awesome view of the lit downtown! Food quality was great (only tried vegetarian options). Ambiance and service was good. A perfect place for a special occasion.
Great view of San Diego. Food was good but fish was over cooked.
Perfect. friendly servers. Delicious food. Nice atmosphere with a nice view
Love Coasterra. This was my birthday dinner. We all got there to enjoy happy hour prices. When i ordered a salad with shrimp for my friend who was 5 mins away, i got charged full price. I ordered before happy hour was over. Not much to squabble about but that was wrong. Did not notice earlier untul we left
Love the ambiance though.
Nice view, excellent drinks (although a bit on the pricey side) and fresh, clean food. Service was professional and on point. Wear your sunscreen if you’re sitting next to the rail, though. Although they have umbrellas, that sun is bright!
Spectacular location. Really good food. Pretty darn good service. Pretty spendy... which is understandable given the facility and location and how much it must have cost them to build Coasterra. We will go back next time we’re in San Diego.
The ambience is great and so are the drinks however it took 45 for us to get our food. The ceviche trio was not so great, and the carne asada steak was nothing special. The salmon was good however a little undercooked.
A great evening with friends and family.
Excellent service! Great view and attentive staff all around. Valet parking is reasonable and professional.
Food was alright, definitely not authentic. It was more of an American take on Mexican cuisine. The ceviche was very tomatoey...
Drinks were solid. View was great!
The food was over seasoned! The drinks and the guacamole were so good, but it was too much.
We enjoyed Costerra very much, A beautiful place to dine! Thank you,
Great view nice and warm with lamps food is great friendly staff
Very pricey for the amount of food.
Amazing views. The carnitas and salmon where excellent. The table side guacamole is a must.
We took my husbands daughter to Coasterra for a birthday lunch, She had never been there so was really looking forward to it. Service was pretty good, we had our chips and salsa with in the first 5 minutes. The servers kept changing so we were not really sure who was ours! Food was mediocre and expensive. My husband ordered enchiladas and they were so covered in sauce he said it looked more like an ice cream sundae. I ordered the chicken torta, the roll was very dry, the thin piece of chicken was so spicy you couldn't even taste the chicken! His daughter ordered the California Quesadilla, and that was the best of the 3 lunches. You can't beat the atmosphere and the gorgeous views from this place, so I would imagine that I will go back at some point .
Fabulous dinner with friends.
A can’t miss
