Food was great for a casual lunchtime spot. Service was disappointing however - the server wasn't engaged at all, I asked three times for mayo after my food arrived and drink refills were painfully slow.
Great service and food
Great spot, good vibe, good food and service! We'll be back to try the chicken pot pie.
We had a wonderful time, fish and chips were excellent, great beer, too. Good lighting, friendly staff, great ambiance for a cozy friendly conversation.
My friend and I met here for dinner after not having seen each other for a while. Based on the reviews for this spot and the photos of the food, it seemed very approachable for different palates.
Given the seafood inspired restaurant name and server’s recommendation - we both had the persimmon glazed cod. It was awful. The dish tasted like someone mixed butter and juice together and poured it on a plate followed by some steamed fish on top and various veggies.
This, in addition to the uninspired ambience made the night fall very very flat.
Our server was kind, but never asked how the food was. So, despite it tasting awful - I continued to eat it because I was STARVING (I tend to eat 1 meal a day only on weekdays)
Excellent waiter and food. The salmon was to die for.
Clam chowder is delicious!!! Crab cakes and crab melt did not disappoint either. Great meal, great service - thank you.
Have not been to Coastal Kitchen in years. Was a go-to when I lived in the neighborhood. Went for a birthday celebration and oysters! The oysters were great, everything else was not. The “bubbly” drinks were flat. French Onion soup was cold, tasteless and the melted cheese was burned. Fries with eyes were good, but served cold so we requested a new order. The fish and chips were cold and bland. No vinegar either. Not impressed and disappointed.
As always great food. Creative menu. The servers were ready to give us a quieter table when seated next to a loud party.
Friends visiting from out of town
good enough wine selection, outstanding oyster appetizers at a 1$ per awsome. All four of us enjoyed our main entrees, extra sauce, another glass of wine or whatever needs we had were promptly filled. Small, but comfortable and not too noisy atmosphere. Go on Oyster appetizer special night, simply delish.
Disappointed. Food took a long time to arrive and when it did, burgers were rare (when we had ordered med well). Had to send back. Waitstaff were apologetic and comped us for poor experience, but don’t plan to go back.
I always visit this restaurant when I visit Seattle and am always blown away. This visit was not very good. The same dishes I've ordered before were poorly prepared. The pasta was almost terrible. Did they get all new kitchen staff? The servers were great, but something is going on with the kitchen, unfortunately. I hope this was an anomoly.
Never disappoints. I entertain many guests from out of town here as it is consistently wonderful - food, service, casual ambiance. Oyster bar is a favorite place to sit, watch the chefs do their thing and interact. Best cioppino in Seattle. And I love that they switch the region of interest every few months so you can experience Barcelona, Brittany France - wherever they travel next - something new to look forward to. They hit it out of the park every time. Highly recommended.
Unfortunately the food was not so good. The fries were so salty that my tongue burned the next day - I could barely eat them. My hamburger was very overdone and dry. The house wine was good and the service was friendly.
The evening at C.K. was fine--We wanted someplace homey and easy, and you supplied it.
Great local spot to take out of town guests!
We appreciated the thoughtfulness of our waitress in letting us visit with each other uninterrupted as long as there were additional tables available. The food was very good and the setting comfortable.
We had a great time. Our table was wobbly, but we MacGyver-ed a solution. While we had a great time, that Coastal Kitchen magic was missing from this visit.
Love the food and the waitstaff. The host was a bit substandard. We had indicated that we didn't want upstairs as we had booked the bar because of the noise. His response was 'it's not that crowded right now.' no means no
We were very happy with Coastal Kitchen. Food recommendations were thoughtful and honest. Everything tasted delicious. Service was excellent! Definitely a great neighborhood restaurant.
Friends recommended this restaurant to us while we were vacationing in Seattle and it didn’t disappoint. Food was delicious. Atmosphere unpretentious. Very welcoming vibe.
Recently visited the Coastal kitchen for dinner with my girlfriend and it was decent for me but not so much for my girlfriend. For starters we ordered fried clams and calamari and both of those were pretty delicious. The waitress seemed put off because we didnt order alcohol and just appetizers and took her a long time to come back for entree ordered and it wasnt busy at all. Once we ordered entrees service improved for some reason, I had the cioppino and it was very good generous amount of seafood and good flavor, my girlfriend ordered the LGBT sandwich which is basically a BLT the sandwich was not good the bacon was so over cooked it turned to dust when you touched it and the French fries were very salty. Had we both gotten the cioppino I feel it would have been a 4 or 5 start place but the service we received and the LGBT sandwich make it a 3 star visit and that might be a little generous.
Service was great. Menu seemed a little restricted on seafood choices for a "neighborhood fish house," but what we ordered was quite good.
I like the way it was remodeled and the seating upstairs is better. Unfortunately a large, loud group came in after we were seated and it was a little hard to talk.
Pretty good, comfortable, out of smelt though which was why we went. I was sad.
It seems like this restaurant may be under new ownership or management. The menu had changed slightly, which isn’t uncommon for Coastal Kitchen, but when we ordered our normal food items, they were completely different than all of the previous times we had eaten here. And on top of that, they weren’t as good as previous visits, which is unfortunate. I don’t know that this will be one of our regular date nights anymore.
Fish and chips was delicious but the chicken in the chicken and waffle just left something to be desired, as did the tonic drink. Overall pretty good, but some of the prices seemed high for what you get, especially on drinks.
Food was terrible. I was shocked at how bad it was in comparison to other visits. I would advise not to go to this restaurant until it overhauls.
The food here never disappoints. The portions are a bit on the lighter side for the salad but everything was delicious as always.
Food was wonderful. Our server Brian was great and made our evening very enjoyable.
Good food and a cheerful, upbeat staff. With the front windows open on a nice day it's a great place for lunch or dinner -- haven't had breakfast/brunch there but the menu looks outstanding.
Great food, location, ambiance and general furnishings. Service is consistently slow. Most restaurants are at your table very soon after you are seated, welcoming you and inquiring if you would like refreshment. At Coastal Kitchen, we consistently have to flag down someone to place a drink order, and so it goes for the entire meal. Don't make the mistake of ordering dessert. This will extend your stay by at least 45 minutes. I think the wait staff is overworked and they have an attitude of resignation - they won't overextend themselves by picking up the pace because they are tired of running around.
Service was excellent and food was okay. There was irritating noise from some drilling, sanding or nailing happening in part of the restaurant. I mentioned it. Very poor planning on the part of management to have this work being done while open.
Recommend by friends, quickly felt disappointed the quality of food.
Great food, was great for our little one also. Amazing drinks also, we hope to try it again & try more selections
Drew at the bar was the best
Fish and chips were very breaded and the bucket drink was not a drink for two people. Mostly soda.
Food was good, But I thought the menu was relatively limited.
I like going to restaurants that are quiet; during slower times because I go out to de-stress and have a break from people/noise. Coastal Kitchen is great for that on an evening during the week, except for maybe Wednesdays, when they run Happy Hour all night, IIRC.
