Drew at the bar was the best
Fish and chips were very breaded and the bucket drink was not a drink for two people. Mostly soda.
Food was good, But I thought the menu was relatively limited.
I like going to restaurants that are quiet; during slower times because I go out to de-stress and have a break from people/noise. Coastal Kitchen is great for that on an evening during the week, except for maybe Wednesdays, when they run Happy Hour all night, IIRC.
NO LONG ALLERGY AWARE
Coastal Kitchen was one of our favorite restaurants and a go to place for my wife and I. With changes in schedules we hadn't had a chance to visit the restaurant for awhile. With the benefit of a scheduling opportunity we looked to visit the restaurant. I have both a Gluten and a cow dairy allergy. My experience at Coastal has always been fantastic. Lots of options and things available. Supporting disappointed to see that this is no longer the case. basically two items available and the kitchen was not interested in adjusting. Needless to say I don't think we will back. I would recommend given your location that you look at this more closely.
Always a terrific low key place to go. First class food at very reasonable prices
Hardly any seafood at the seafood restaurant. Sad. I loved this place will likely not go back any time soon. I used to go at least once a month.
Incredible wait staff, atmosphere and food. Great for larger groups, too. Coastal Kitchen will not disappoint!
Always good food. Casual and comfy while still being a good date spot. Personally prefer their classics over the theme of the month.
Overall, we had an ok dinner. The restaurant website was not updated so we were expecting dishes from a region that was no longer being served. Also the wine menu was out of date.
I ordered the chioppino for dinner and the only complaint I have is that the sauce was too sweet. Maybe they went heavy on the carrots this time because I don’t remember having the same complaint on previous visits. Everything else food wise was delicious.
The servers (at least three people visited our table) were polite but pretty indifferent. We were brought a drink at first but never asked if we wanted another. When we finished, our plates sat uncleared for half an hour (drinks still empty). Our check was brought to the table without anyone asking if we wanted anything else. We were planning on desert and after-dinner drinks but went elsewhere for those. The staff didn’t seem to care about us so why give them anymore money?
The fried chicken and waffles were amazing!! Cool vibes!
Food was fine, serving size was moderate on the chicken pot pie and huge on the fish and chips. See my note about a take-out salad.
I hadn't been there in a number of years, but I remembered the food being extraordinary, and this time it didn't quite qualify as that.
The place was not crowded at 5:30, but the noise level is moderately high. I happen to dislike that quite a bit, as it impedes conversation.
I ordered a chicken Caesar salad to-go, but they brought it to the table on a plate. After they boxed it and I brought it home, it was almost for sure a whole lot smaller (less chicken for $6, less greens for $9) than what had been on the plate. Disappointing size for $17 total!
OpenTable is confusing to use. I made the reservation under my name, but somehow they connected it to my wife's account (which I never signed into!), so even though she wasn't joining me for dinner, the reservation ended up being in her name. Just a bit weird.
Overall, it was a nice experience, but no longer a favorite for me.
Great little cozy restaurant with good seafood at very fare prices. We have been there twice and will go back again. Service people are really good there, above average.
Service was fantastic, portions were ample and I love the rotating menu featuring different countries each month.
I used to enjoy Coastal Kitchen, but I think the quality of the food relative to the cost is not up to snuff. I'd also add steak to the menu...
We love Coastal kitchen! The food is great, and the bartenders and wait staff really make us feel welcome.
Overall a nice place to have dinner. The menu selection is somewhat limiting, but the choices we made were delicious.
My go-to spot in Seattle for brunch - I love their goat cheese scramble!
You can always always count on great food and service - delightful!
There was a sign that read “we seat you eat” but I stood there for over 5 minutes waiting for a hostess to simply welcome me. I had to ask the waitress if there was even a hostess at all and she had to get her for me. When we were seated it took a long time before our personal waitress came. when she finally got there she never asked what we wanted to drink and left so quickly we didn’t even get to order them when we ordered our appetizers.
Online, it says “kid friendly” but we had a stroller and we had to carry it up the stairs because the only downstairs seating was for people at the bar? I made reservations for 9:15pm but they closed at 10pm.. I don’t know why they even allow that? Because we didn’t even get our food until 10pm and all of our fish were burnt. It wasn’t very crowded but the employees were rushing and not very personable. They had a sign saying they had chicken and wafflles but when we tried to order it they said they ran out? I appreciated being able to stay and chat with my party while they closed up but we definitely felt rushed. This was not the place to go for New Year’s Eve. Not the place to bring our kids and we will not be back.
The drinks were good. The cioppino was good, but the rockfish coating was too salty. The fried oysters were good too.
I go for the oysters. They're great. Service is good. Best at the slowest time.
We went for a holiday dinner with our parents. The cuisine was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. It was quiet enough we could all hear each other well. Great fried oysters and the chef did a second round pan-fried to order without garlic, which we appreciated. The seafood stew and the mussels were also great. We havent' been to the Coastal in years since we moved away from Capitol Hill, and it was a pleasant surprise returning to one of our old favorites.
Lunch was great!!
Always a great time
We celebrated our annual office Christmas brunch at Coastal Kitchen this year. The menu is nicely varied and everyone enjoyed their meal. A little surprised that it cost $300 for 8 of us with only one alcoholic beverage and no desserts between us. But very enjoyable.
Great food and ambiance.
Nice restaurant with really great service. Food was quite a bit disappointing though. We went for dinner 11/10/18. The featured regional menu location was Oaxaca. While the Brussel sprouts were very good, the fried oysters were very heavily breaded. Most of the meals ordered were huge portions but were all far from remarkable. Two in our party ordered the Oaxaca flank steak. The actual flank steak portion was tiny. The plate was filled with salsa, pico, rice, 3 flour tortillas and a small piece of flank steak. Overall, it was just an okay experience for us. Coastal Kitchen was highly recommended by friends for their great brunch. Perhaps we'll give it another try for that.
Thank you! Food & service were wonderful, as always.
Costal Kitchen is a really great place. Good food; fun ambience and convenient location. Service is helpful and cocktails are quite good too.
Overall it’s a good restaurant. It’s very overpriced and I noticed some of their Restaurant week options would be cheaper if you bought them at normal pricing instead of the 33$ for 3 courses deal which seemed kind of rude. The service was good, but they were severely understaffed and I felt bad for the workers. The best part of the experience was the art on the walls, one of my favorite artists (A.O.Hammer) was showing her work and we were sat right underneath her paintings!!!! They are amazing and I’m glad she’s getting some exposure!
Really had a good time. Great staff! Absolutely HATE being reminded 4, 3, 2 and one day in advance with emails. Will never go to another place that does this. Too much work! Then before we got home we got a notice that we never made it!!!CRAZY WASTE OF TIME! Feels like I am answering to someone at work so was the worst part of the night😢😢😢
Very good local restaurant. Quality ingredients and taste.
This was the second time I've visited Coastal Kitchen. Both times the experience was great. Fast service, knowledgeable staff, lovely food, great atmosphere. Music was nice and quiet, allowing conversation to flow. Will definitely go there again!
One note: there weren't many vegetarian options: mac & cheese or a risotto. One of the members of our group was vegetarian and he wasn't thrilled. But there were several vegetarian appetizer options and eventually he was OK.
been going for years - solid food, great service. I like that the menu rotates
There are times that I feel that the food at Coastal Kitchen is overpriced for what you get, but it's a really nice kid-friendly neighborhood restaurant, and I love the rotating menus. I also enjoy supporting small local businesses, so I have multiple compelling reasons to continue to go. Also, your biscuits and gravy are probably the closest I've come to what I'm used to getting in the Midwest (where I'm from), so that's reason enough. :)
Three of us enjoyed our meals, with a few caveats. The queso came with a skimpy serving of tortilla chips (especially for 3 people). The server eventually noticed that we were out of chips with half the dip still remaining and offered more chips (and we were charged for them). My granddaughter wanted a sundae. However, the server took a long time coming to ask if we wanted dessert. By the time she arrived, my granddaughter had filled up on leftover Brussels sprouts (mine) and no longer wanted the sundae.
We have always enjoyed this restaurant a couple of times a year. We were disappointed that they didn't have any local beers on tap (or in bottles?) other than an unpleasant IPA that apparently the parent company brews for them. The food tasted good, but prices were a bit high for serving size. The desserts are great!
Service wa a bit slow but the place was packed. Server worked hard. Major complaint is with the noise — hard floor/wall surface. We couldn’t carry on our conversation so we ate quickly and left. No plans to return anytime soon.
