I used to enjoy Coastal Kitchen, but I think the quality of the food relative to the cost is not up to snuff. I'd also add steak to the menu...
We love Coastal kitchen! The food is great, and the bartenders and wait staff really make us feel welcome.
Overall a nice place to have dinner. The menu selection is somewhat limiting, but the choices we made were delicious.
My go-to spot in Seattle for brunch - I love their goat cheese scramble!
You can always always count on great food and service - delightful!
There was a sign that read “we seat you eat” but I stood there for over 5 minutes waiting for a hostess to simply welcome me. I had to ask the waitress if there was even a hostess at all and she had to get her for me. When we were seated it took a long time before our personal waitress came. when she finally got there she never asked what we wanted to drink and left so quickly we didn’t even get to order them when we ordered our appetizers.
Online, it says “kid friendly” but we had a stroller and we had to carry it up the stairs because the only downstairs seating was for people at the bar? I made reservations for 9:15pm but they closed at 10pm.. I don’t know why they even allow that? Because we didn’t even get our food until 10pm and all of our fish were burnt. It wasn’t very crowded but the employees were rushing and not very personable. They had a sign saying they had chicken and wafflles but when we tried to order it they said they ran out? I appreciated being able to stay and chat with my party while they closed up but we definitely felt rushed. This was not the place to go for New Year’s Eve. Not the place to bring our kids and we will not be back.
The drinks were good. The cioppino was good, but the rockfish coating was too salty. The fried oysters were good too.
I go for the oysters. They're great. Service is good. Best at the slowest time.
We went for a holiday dinner with our parents. The cuisine was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. It was quiet enough we could all hear each other well. Great fried oysters and the chef did a second round pan-fried to order without garlic, which we appreciated. The seafood stew and the mussels were also great. We havent' been to the Coastal in years since we moved away from Capitol Hill, and it was a pleasant surprise returning to one of our old favorites.
Lunch was great!!
Always a great time
We celebrated our annual office Christmas brunch at Coastal Kitchen this year. The menu is nicely varied and everyone enjoyed their meal. A little surprised that it cost $300 for 8 of us with only one alcoholic beverage and no desserts between us. But very enjoyable.
Great food and ambiance.
Nice restaurant with really great service. Food was quite a bit disappointing though. We went for dinner 11/10/18. The featured regional menu location was Oaxaca. While the Brussel sprouts were very good, the fried oysters were very heavily breaded. Most of the meals ordered were huge portions but were all far from remarkable. Two in our party ordered the Oaxaca flank steak. The actual flank steak portion was tiny. The plate was filled with salsa, pico, rice, 3 flour tortillas and a small piece of flank steak. Overall, it was just an okay experience for us. Coastal Kitchen was highly recommended by friends for their great brunch. Perhaps we'll give it another try for that.
Thank you! Food & service were wonderful, as always.
Costal Kitchen is a really great place. Good food; fun ambience and convenient location. Service is helpful and cocktails are quite good too.
Overall it’s a good restaurant. It’s very overpriced and I noticed some of their Restaurant week options would be cheaper if you bought them at normal pricing instead of the 33$ for 3 courses deal which seemed kind of rude. The service was good, but they were severely understaffed and I felt bad for the workers. The best part of the experience was the art on the walls, one of my favorite artists (A.O.Hammer) was showing her work and we were sat right underneath her paintings!!!! They are amazing and I’m glad she’s getting some exposure!
Really had a good time. Great staff! Absolutely HATE being reminded 4, 3, 2 and one day in advance with emails. Will never go to another place that does this. Too much work! Then before we got home we got a notice that we never made it!!!CRAZY WASTE OF TIME! Feels like I am answering to someone at work so was the worst part of the night😢😢😢
Very good local restaurant. Quality ingredients and taste.
This was the second time I've visited Coastal Kitchen. Both times the experience was great. Fast service, knowledgeable staff, lovely food, great atmosphere. Music was nice and quiet, allowing conversation to flow. Will definitely go there again!
One note: there weren't many vegetarian options: mac & cheese or a risotto. One of the members of our group was vegetarian and he wasn't thrilled. But there were several vegetarian appetizer options and eventually he was OK.
been going for years - solid food, great service. I like that the menu rotates
There are times that I feel that the food at Coastal Kitchen is overpriced for what you get, but it's a really nice kid-friendly neighborhood restaurant, and I love the rotating menus. I also enjoy supporting small local businesses, so I have multiple compelling reasons to continue to go. Also, your biscuits and gravy are probably the closest I've come to what I'm used to getting in the Midwest (where I'm from), so that's reason enough. :)
Three of us enjoyed our meals, with a few caveats. The queso came with a skimpy serving of tortilla chips (especially for 3 people). The server eventually noticed that we were out of chips with half the dip still remaining and offered more chips (and we were charged for them). My granddaughter wanted a sundae. However, the server took a long time coming to ask if we wanted dessert. By the time she arrived, my granddaughter had filled up on leftover Brussels sprouts (mine) and no longer wanted the sundae.
We have always enjoyed this restaurant a couple of times a year. We were disappointed that they didn't have any local beers on tap (or in bottles?) other than an unpleasant IPA that apparently the parent company brews for them. The food tasted good, but prices were a bit high for serving size. The desserts are great!
Service wa a bit slow but the place was packed. Server worked hard. Major complaint is with the noise — hard floor/wall surface. We couldn’t carry on our conversation so we ate quickly and left. No plans to return anytime soon.
Enjoyed cocktails, calamari and tuna poke. Very attentive and efficient service. Seated promptly. Great food and experience.
Waitress was snarky and rude. Took a good 20 minutes for someone to take our order and the food took forever a really long time to come out. The food is over price for the quality. I won’t be back.
Coastal Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. If you love seafood, variety, and an adventure for your palette, you'll love this place, too. They do "tours" of different areas, so their specials rotate, but they always have oysters and outstanding fish options. Of course, the best time to go is brunch--their soft-shell crab benedict is one of my all-time favorite meals!
Great place! Neighborhood vibe and great quality food.
Delicious Cioppino! The bartender was very friendly and offered great suggestions! Good atmosphere.
The best thing about the restaurant has always been the variety in the menu. However, the menu has been greatly cut back recently. The items that are available are only mediocre. The prices are high. I go there because it is convenient. Wouldn't come from another neighborhood.
We attended for the retrospective of menu items over the last 25 years. We were disappointed that there weren't more, especially main courses. The Happy Hour Bib salad was excellent, and the cocktails were excellent. But what we did order were very good.
This dinner was just very okay. Certainly not anything special and definitely overpriced.
This is a regular place for us. Never disappointed!
This is the only restaurant I eat at. It has replaced my stove for all major meals.
The food was absolutely delicious for brunch. I am curious to see about what other menus they have "touring" in the future.
Always great to go to Coastal Kitchen. I got to try the risotto with poblano peppers, roasted corn, and chevre. It was AMAZING. Compliments to the cook and to the creator of such a delicious meal!
Great food and service.
The French fries are the best.
All I ordered was a simple burger , however it was a bit overpriced with it coming out to be $22 for just a burger and fries . The only reason I did give good reviews was because the meat was tasted amazing and good quality unlike some other restaurants .
