Great evening. Great atmosphere. Great food.

Consistently good high end food and service, yet nice-casual and fairly priced. Apps are great, salads good (I like the chicken liver sautéed spinach salad - enough for an entree), Branzino is wow and soft shells the bomb when in season. Squash side dish is a must. Highly recommend. Nice job!

Since its early beginnings we have become steady diners at Coastal. We have never had a bad meal or raw oysters. When our children and grandchildren come to visit they hope we include Coastal during their stay. Jerry has never lowered his standards. Bravo! Larry & Jane Waters

My wife and I frequented prior location and this was out first since relocation. We liked the decor...get rid of the booths. When I made the reservation I mentioned that it was our anniversary and requested one of the preferred tables. NOT...staff seemed to not even matter on seating....stuck in a booth / chair combo in corner with sun burning into my wifes eyes - she had to sit sideways for half the meal - and unfortunately I was facing the wall. And waitress said..."oh, I'm so sorry - yes that happens all the time"...you would think the owners would fix it with some blinds.

Ordered specials...Tuna was overcooked, Mahi was small, Calamari app was tiny...spent $100 with tap water for drinks and no desert....would consider the meal a poor value....has taken a couple of notches down since across the road location.

We have been regulars for years and now it just doesn’t seem quite up to its reputation.
Perhaps something going on in kitchen or maybe the new staff. It was nice to be known
And treated as a regular.
We asked for a larger table and were told they were reserved but no one used the entire night.
We said it was our anniversary when making reservation but that was ignored.
I’m sure we will be back but I think our expectations have changed.

Very good experience and staff was attentive. Would suggestion having a menu with the feature items since a lot to recall from the waitstaff

Always perfect at Coastal Grill.

Just the best salmon over and over again, and the acorn squash is to die for. Been a favorite for many years. I do miss the coziness of the former location, especially the bar, but that's no big deal. Consistently, dependably delicious and great service. I love that the bartender was willing to make me a "half" martini so that I could safely drive home!

We were a party of six adults. We had a lovely time.

We told our server we were trying to eat healthy. We declined the bread and butter, she spoke with the chef and advised us to order the salmon. Unfortunately, no substitutions were permitted for the sides, which were buttery butternut squash and potatoes. We ordered asparagus a la carte but it never came. Overall, a big bill for literally 3 filets of salmon. Wish they would have been a little more accommodating to our diet needs.

This was our first visit since leaving the area in 2014. We enjoyed a truly outstanding meal and superb service in the " new" location. The famous salmon and acorn squash was exceptional and the swordfish special was perfectly prepared Our server was beyond pleasant and welcoming. We will definitely be back. The new digs are bright and cheerful...a huge improvement.

Always enjoy our experiences at this restaurant. Sit in the bar for a more lively atmosphere at high tables or for a more intimate experience the comfortable dining room is perfect for a business dinner or celebration meal. Tables are well spaced and chairs are very comfortable. The space has a classic vibe with touches of modern. You feel welcome in jeans or more dressed up. Come early and have a drink outside by the fire pit. Complimentary valet parking is an added bonus. The food continues (since 1989) to be fresh, creative, and seasonal with good sized portions. Don't let the limited menu fool you - there are always lots of off menu additions for appetizers and entrees. If you are looking for a great spot for drinks, casual dinner or a special celebration, look no further!

My girl and her sister have birthdays within a week of each other and she wanted to go to Coastal Grill, Everything was fantastic. They started with delicious appetizers and it went up from there. Everything was perfect

The consistency of the food and the friendliness of the staff are two outstanding reasons to recommend Coastal. Regulars and locals have long regarded it as a go to dining choice but in its new expanded, quarters it has an added air of quiet charm. The menu has some seasonal specials but the mainstays are what bring us back time and again.

This is one of the few Virginia Beach restaurants to have lasted over decades. There’s a reason for this: there is never a bad meal here, consistency of quality is amazing, and the price is reasonable.

My wife and I have eaten here many times the good was great we needed some dietary accommodations and this was no problem and the service was excellent

We thoroughly enjoy dining at the Coastal Grill. The establishment offers a clean, calm decor with extremely tasteful appointments...ie.....floral arrangement and appropriate art works here and there. Knowledgeable staff who are keen to diners needs. The table settings feature REAL tablecloths and napkins....polished and gleaming stemware. Flatware is substantial and not flimsy, bent and such. The wait staff is organized...helping one another and very well trained to help the dining areas run smoothly and efficiently. This goes all the way tothe valet who deftly parks high powered autos and in a flash retrieves them upon guests exiting. It is very smart to have the same man on duty as he is completely familiar with the narrow park space.
Best of all tho, is the food. EVERYTHING is totally delicious...EVERY time!!! No matter what item is chosen, you can count on it being attractively presented., tasty and it will be hot and just simply delicious!! Dining here makes one really feel special. This is truly THE BEST place in town to dine. THANKS so MUCH for being here!!!!

Coastal is one of THE BEST restaurants in the area. We travel a great distance to dine here because the food is always perfect. The ambiance is great. The waitstaff is always friendly and accommodating. The seasonal menu items are always a treat but most especially the late spring early summer softshell crabs. We will come back again and again!

Lovely evening ... birthday dinner for my niece and nephew who live in the DC area, everyone loved their food and we shared each tastes of each other’s dishes to make it even more special. Every bite was a wow!

We celebrated our 32nd anniversary at Coastal Grill because it is our favorite place to enjoy a wonderful meal. The ambience and the acorn squash lures us in but the swordfish, a wonderful recommendation made by our waitress, and the rockfish was absolutely delicious. Our compliments to the chef, the staff and especially Sierra who helped make our evening delightful. Thank you!

The food was FANTASTIC! Server Carolyn was great. Only downside was that the length of time in getting the food was extremely long. Although it was worth the wait, I would have preferred it to have gotten the food sooner.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the area! The service and the food are outstanding not to mention the beautiful ambiance. Make sure you make a reservation if possible or you can sit at the bar.

An exceptional restaurant where the quality of the food is exceeded only by the quality of the service. Had a reservation for 7:30 pm on a busy Saturday and we were seated promptly. Dinners were even better than we expected. Watercress served as a salad with the steak was an unexpected pleasure. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. She was impressive as she recited a long list of specials from memory and explained each one. The meal was a terrific experience. The only detraction of the evening was that some guests appeared in ratty jeans, ball caps, and sloppy shorts. Those few people did not treat it as the fine dining experience it is.

My wife and I have been here several times and it will continue to be a favored place.
