We brought my elderly parents out to dinner at Coastal Blue. We were super impressed with the entire staff! The Valet attendant helped my dad out of the car, we were greeted as we came in and the hostess re-arranged tables so he would not have to walk far, as he uses a cane. The waiter, Alex, was very patient in explaining the menu and couldn't have been more professional in his service. The drinks came as ordered and we did not have to wait long. This was followed by a superb dinner! Fried calamari and Caesar salad were first rate. I had the crab cakes, all jumbo lump with a beautiful presentation and sauce on side as I had requested. We did not order dessert, but look forward to next time we go. Fun dining room, shell chandeliers and cool ceilings. Prices were what we expected, definitely worth the enjoyable evening. Really want to thank everyone for going above and beyond....a rare gem at the Jersey Shore!
Good service and good food. Ambiance thrown off a little due to hotel venue.
Excellent food, ambiance and service. Took care of all our requests, including a delicious birthday dessert for our friend. Will definently go back when in Wildwood crest!
Rolls hard as rocks..cheese board miniscule portions..chicken no flavor..the scallops were excellent..sevice was very good.. food not worth the money spent restaurant layout was a bit odd..
The ambiance is fine. The food is very average. Nothing special or need to write home about. Caesar salad was tasty with a generous portion. The one vegan option (eggplant rolatini) consisted of very thin eggplant slices filled with tasteless buckwheat with a little eggplant, tomato sauce garnishing the dish. The entree arrived before I had finished my salad giving me the impression that it was either poorly timed or symptomatic of a beach town mentality of get you in, get you out. The other person had clam chowder which was void of large pieces of clam (even though the soup was touted as an award winning dish) and crab cakes which were lacking flavor. When presented with dessert options, the dessert that was selected as it turns out was no longer available and we ate on the early side. On a positive note, the server was a lovely girl from eastern Europe working there for the summer to earn travel funds and college money until her return to Europe.
p.s. There was a lovely screaming toddler sitting nearby for most of the meal.
Food didn’t really have any flavor and needed a lot of salt and pepper. The crab cakes were excellent. The tuna was also flavorless. Needed a sauce on top such as the crab cakes had.
Although the entrée food was very good, the cheese board appetizer was stale and imbalanced. The dirty banana daiquiri tasted like a powdered mix and nothing hand crafted about it at all.
The outside dining area is between a parking lot and the hotel, facing the guest pool.
The Star Beach bar on the other hand was beautiful for the nighttime starry filled sky.
Great atmosphere, good food and good service. Bar drinks are Not good at all so stick with wine if you are ordering drinks.
Only 1 word come to my mind. Perfect !
Everything was just perfect. The service, the ambiance, the view of the ocean.
The appetizers and the entrees were excellent.
We will come back for our next visit to Wildwood
Vacation- food is outstanding. We come back every year. Did outdoor seating for the first time this year.... awesome!
We were at the beach for a family “girls weekend “ and picked the restaurant based on availability at the last minute. We were pleasantly surprised with an excellent meal and even better service from a delightful young man from Romania. It was a very enjoyable evening.
It was our Anniversary and my husband’s birthday which I included in my notes on open table but neither was acknowledged!
Had Zach as a server and was one of the best ones we’ve ever had! Very personable, helpful, and welcoming! Definitely will come back!
We had a great birthday dinner. Service was fast and meals were tasty! Loved the scallops, yum!!!
Very good food and the service was excellent. Our server Alex was outstanding. Everyone came and sang Happy Birthday to my brother which was very nice. Excellent all around. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.
Steak could use some more seasoning but was perfectly done as requested. Crab cakes were delicious and the place was spotless. I’ll definitely be back for a different item on the menu.
Great food and great service! The food was delicious! Crab cakes are ALL CRAB!!
Our meal was amazing and the service was even better. Their Jersey summer salad was so refreshing, the crab cakes were delicious and the filet was cooked perfectly.
Example of the service you will get: At the end of the night my boyfriend forgot his card and the waitress ran outside and flagged us down in our car to give it back. So not only did we get a great meal but she saved us a headache too.
We thought some of the dishes were absolutely delightful. The sushi appetizer, the sea bass special and the short ribs.
The sea bass special was a great combo of the base fish and a mix of veggies and starches that were perfect together.
This place is a hidden gem. I’ve been eating everywhere in South Jersey, and came across this restaurant by accident so I decided to try something new! We had a reservation for 7:15pm and we were seated promptly. We asked our waitress for recommendations for all courses and drinks! For appetizers- the soup and burrata were excellent choices. Favorite entree of all time, definitely the Sea Bass addition!! The waitress and staff were very attentive and lively. The Manager also stopped by each table, including ours, which was nice. You don’t see that too often anymore. Our date night continued outside for some drinks at their neat outdoor beach bar! Definitely give this place a try, you won’t regret it!!
Was pleasantly surprised at how good this meal was, I like trying places out myself without reading too many reviews. Spicy tuna roll was amazing. As were the crab cakes. Best meal I had in wildwood.
We were vacationing in Wildwood Crest, celebrating our Anniversary. We choose this restaurant based on close proximity to where we were staying.
Upon arrival the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of drinks and all evening menu specials.
I ordered the beet salad, presented beautifully, unfortunately lacked any of the balsamic glaze as mentioned in the menu description. My entrèe was the encrusted, semi boneless chicken, which was presented with burnt crust, dry chicken, which I could not eat. My husband ordered the filet mignon with crab cake. The filet was over seasoned and the crab cake tasted funky.
This was our anniversary, I did not have the energy to complain on such a special evening. We just made the best of it.
I do have to mention that they served us a very special dessert, congratulating us, which was very sweet.
Having never been to Wildwood before it was great to find a good place to eat and not feel rushed. Will definitely dine here again.
I would recommend it to other people. Last year’s menu was better this year the menu was not very pleasing.
Apps were excellent. Especially the spicy tuna roll. Filet mignon was prepared perfectly, the crab cakes were all crab meat with little filler.
Zak is a great waiter.
The server Zach was fantastic, professional and on point.
Food was very good, fresh and not over the top with fancy sauces. Atmosphere is really beautiful.
The only thing it lacked which is completely personal is raw bar and better wine list
No bread offered or the specials. Food was mediocre at best. Advertised as ocean view and we started at a parking lot and hotel pool. Is advertised as a high end restaurant and it is not, it is the bottom of a hotel and alongside the hotel pool. Hostess told table next to us to come back again when they could actually take care of customers due to "being busy"
Getting drinks took forever. They blamed the fact of having a new bartender on.
We own a place in Wildwood Crest and we’re excited to find a restaurant nearby as we are at the shore year round. The server admitted he was new so we expected there was the potential of a blip here and there. The issue was the kitchen and timing. Our appetizer and drinks arrived in a timely manner then there was a wait for our salad. Our entrees arrived immediately followed by our salad. We were at a table for two, food was served on large plates which meant we had to give up our bread basket and eat with our entree plates overhanging the table. When asked by the manager if everything was alright we shared our experience and was told he was sorry. The offer of a complimentary glass of wine or dessert would have been an indication they wanted our return business. Guess we’ll continue dining at our usual favorites - One Fish Two Fish, Establishment 100, Tisha’s, Abbitt Room, and Union Park where our patronage is wanted and appreciated. Just to be clear and fair - the food was very good. The restaurant is noisy and there were a lot of preteen kids eating there without parents - wonder where the parents were dining?
My concerns are the cost of not only drinks but also the food which is not all that great. The breakfast service was very slow and my husband had to chase down a waiter to get us service.
Had an awesome dinner for our first time here. Will definitely return. Food was superb. Had the halibut special and crab cakes. Everyone was super nice but I need to give a special shout out to our waiter, Alex. He really made the experience enjoyable and made us feel special.
Best restaurant in Wildwood Crest. We dream about the tuna sushi all year long.
Food was great. The drinks were good. The reason my wife and I dined there was because as they stated “it was a commanding view of the ocean”. In reality it was a view of the swimming pool. We probably won’t be going back just for that reason.
This entire hotel tries really hard to make you happy including the restaurant Coastal Blue. Happy, attentive staff, a small billing error at the restaurant was handled no problem. Mussels were fantastic.
Food was great!
Food was good, service was lacking
The food was excellent and affordably priced. The service was prompt and courteous. Highly recommended!
Although early in the season, we were able to order off the appetizer and lunch menus which were adequate for burgers, soups, and salads. Clam Chowder deserves its acclaim and the pork/sausage burger was tasty.
The menu choices looked fantastic on paper.... very original dish titles and ingredients. We were so excited to have found a nice looking restaurant in Wildwood with a Metropolitan city ambiance. But I was sorely disappointed with my meal. We went for Mother’s Day brunch. I ordered a cocktail that was their signature drink -which was not a martini and yet came in a martini glass. Overly sweet and for $12 it had absolutely no alcohol. I also ordered the “iron skillet” which called for braised short ribs and a cheese sauce “fondue” which was made with cape May brewery IPA... when I received the dish it was on a bed of home-fries which occupied 90% of my dish. It was sprinkled with 3 bits of short rib pieces and smothered in a very watery cream sauce that did not taste like cheese. Also it was not in a skillet. So why was it called a skillet???? Where was the “Fondue”? I could imagine Robert Irvine yelling at the chef/owner for misinformation on the menu. (Restaurant impossible). I returned that dish and ordered the seafood risotto which had a decent taste but for some reason the cheese sauce was watery too and the scallops were raw. They did not use Arborio rice for the risotto so the rice was thin and too soft.
I ordered their Nutella bread pudding for dessert which in itself sounds like heaven... how could you possibly mess up Nutella and croissants right??? The ratio of bread to chocolate was disproportionally distributed. The dessert had way too much chocolate (as if right? Nutella!) it was also peppered with raw almond pieces within which did not complement the dessert. My daughter had the French Toast with Nutella . How could anyone not know how to prepare French toast !!! The bread was extremely dry. Moist French toast is 101.
All in all for me a disappointing choice of meals. My husband ordered the lobster bisque and it tasted good. My father in law ordered the crab Benedict’s and he liked them.
Not too impressed, just like another hotel restaurant food.
