COAST is where fresh British Columbia seafood dazzles in a setting that features a clean, contemporary design with deep turquoise tones, mosaic-tile floors, and lush leather banquettes. This is the definition of a breathtaking Vancouver aesthetic that extends a respectful nod to historic San Francisco, home to the world’s most iconic seafood eateries. The COAST entry welcomes guests through a street-side patio bordered by two custom fireplaces.
Tried the $15 tasting plates for the restaurant's bday celebration. The food was delicious! The assigned server could have been friendlier. But all the other staff were wonderful! We are already planning a return visit to try the brunch menu.
The food was disappointing for the price point. Really needed salt! Very bland.
Our waiter was excellent, but other staff were not well trained. Served a share dish without a spoon to distribute, couldn’t get anyone’s attention to get a spoon or to get pepper and even though we asked for salt twice we didn’t see any. The bus staff reached right over plate to fill water glass almost putting his arm in the plate.
It’s a beautiful restaurant -but not the best food or service on this night.
Caesar salad was wonderful. Nice bite to it without being overpowering. Lobster pot pie was hot and the veggies were fantastic. However, we had to work a little harder than I hoped to get at the one piece of lobster in the shell that was supposed to be the main feature of the dish. Other dishes of a similar type we've had in other restaurants made it a lot easier, sometimes taking the lobster out of the shell before serving it. Regardless, it was good experience.
Fantastic service and food
An enjoyable evening with amazing service and food. The seafood platter was surprisingly good value. I would definitely order it again. An overall great experience.
Fries were less crispy than usual
Visitor to city. Hotel concierge recommendation. Sat outside. Very comfortable with attentive enthusiastic staff. Early bird special was available and delicious. Had several items and happy with the sushi rolls and non sushi meals. Very delicious and relaxing. Beautiful indoor space with nice crowd.
We went with another couple. The food was great. We were seated at a back table so we could talk. The food was well prepared and presented. There was a nice wine menu, and the waitress was great. What more could you ask for? Very fun meal.
This was a most enjoyable evening . The service and cuisine were exceptional
Good food. Large portion of calamari. Special scallops were very tasty. Service good. Nice bottle of BC Sauvignon blanc
Great waiter: Blaine!
First time there. Very busy lunch service. The manager noticed we had been sitting for a while without service and immediately took care of us for the rest of the service. Wow. So impressed. Oh by the way, food was amazingly fresh and tasty. I'll be back. And thanks again to the guy in the jacket for the great experience.
Always very good, which is why they keep going back again and again. It also doesn't hurt that it is right across the street. :-)
It was an amazing experience. Our server Oscar was fantastic and provided some great recommendations. The sablefish is a must and the lobster was superb! Put it on your list to visit the award winning restaurant.
En general fue grata y comimos delicioso!
Overall service does not meet our expectations, food was fair for promotional items. It was disappointed compare to few years ago on my birthday dinning. I would rather pay much more to dine at the neighbors but not here anymore!
We had a business lunch on the patio and ordered from the new lunch special menu. The food was as per usual, outstanding!!! The service was also top notch. Thanks for the enjoyable hour!
After numerous visits for brunch & not being disappointed, I decided to try the dinner menu. Craving a seafood pasta, I settled on the lobster & shrimp gnocchi. In short, any restaurant with a modicum of self respect would be ashamed to serve the nasty bit of dried up flavourless rubber in a shell and call it fresh Atlantic lobster ! Server was accomadating & gracious with a different meal, ordered the halibut special but by the time it arrived, some 30 minutes later, I just wanted to be done with the whole experience. Meal was comped by the management. So, this was one night, my experience and maybe not the norm ? Who knows... but if that nasty lobster is a regular thing ... shame !
Good place to go, we had a quick brunch.
A great winter restarant.
Excellent HAPPY HOUR menu. The service was outstanding and the dishes came quite quickly although the restaurant was very busy. I’ve been to Coast so many times for dinner but never for HAPPY HOUR. What a wonderful experience!
This was our first visit to Coast, we had a very enjoyable meal. Our waiter was most excellent, very attentive and answered all our questions, made great suggestions on menu items. I felt the noise was a little loud but the music selection was awesome. Great food
We were disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. We reserved months prior and had a tiny table stuck in a corner behind a rather large group and along a glass railing. It was very warm in the restaurant. We began with cocktails, which were good. We chose our appetizers with the assistance of our server. My salad was good and my husband's oysters, both of which were good. The problem was with the main course and the wine. Our wine was delivered by a very nice man, who knew nothing about wine, which was disappointing because we generally like to get additional insight on our selection. My husband's main course was good, the issue was with my main course. I ordered one of Coast's signature dishes, maple crusted sable fish, which was served on a bed of mashed potatoes that were cold. The plates were not delivered by our server, and we actually saw the young lady walking around the lower level of the restaurant with the plates. When our server came to check on us, he noticed that I did not seem to appreciate my meal and enquired about whether or not there was a problem. I reluctantly, with prodding from my husband told him that the mashed potatoes were cold. The server insisted on heating the sides, so disappeared with my plate. I insisted that my husband continue to eat his meal while it was warm. The server returned shortly with a new plate, including warm potatoes, the problem that ensued was that the fish was raw in the centre. We were offered a complimentary dessert to make up for the disappointing dinner that came in over $350 for the two of us. We were disappointed to say the least. Unfortunately, I don't think that we will return.
Isabell was absolutely wonderful. The food was great but the noise level was excessive and we were sat near a table where the staff knew the regular so they were yelling across the room to each other jovially.
I live Coast but I think the next birthday will be spent elsewhere or at B&B.
We had a nice dinner but wasn't our favorite for seafood.
Was much better then our previous experience that evening...
Loved this restaurant, Crawford the server was social and highly skilled!
We ordered the seafood tower. Oysters and ceviche were just delicious, while other items such as the crab and the lobster were too cold to enjoy and quite tasteless. I am not an expert on seafood towers but I ordered them in other restaurants and they tasted better overall.
Soups were excellent, we asked for some bread on the side and apparently, that's not a thing in this restaurant so we didn't get any. Service was very good and very cordial.
Food was amazing and overall service was great except when it was time to pay the bill. Took our server over 20mins to figure it out which was disappointing but still had a great time.
Was expecting shards in the oysters for the buck a shuck. But overall good, flavours, presentation and service was good. Menu options looked pretty good too
Service was excellent. Portion of lobster for the price is not in line at all. Small portion, large price, considering we ordered the king crab. Other then that it was good.
Great food and excellent service. Tables a bit too close to my liking. And noise level was high.
I would go again.
Appies has no taste
Pan fried prawns were oily and greasy
Fried oysters were too bartered and oily
Mussels lousy and very rich and no taste
The halibut special was overcooked - to my dismay!
The ahi was good though.
Service was friendly and good.
I will give it a second chance if I come to visit Vancouver again.
Five stars in every category. Found this restaurant by chance on open table when visiting Vancouver. If you love seafood, sushi, great service, nice ambiance and and a walkable location from any downtown /waterfront hotel, this is your place. Laura, our server was top notch. Energetic, cool vibe. Phenomenal menu options, to the point we had trouble deciding. Ultimately went with a smoked salmon flatbread appetizer and three different sushi rolls, plus desserts. The manager came over and asked us to give them our opinions on their brand new dessert menu. Laura highly recommended them all, but highlighted a particular few that the pastry chef was extremely proud of. We picked an out of this world coconut/banana cake and a chocolate gateau. The gateau was extremely good and different with an anise chantilly cream, but that cake....oh, that cake!!! It came out warm, almost hot, with a delicious creme anglaise type sauce surrounding it. We've never had anything like it. Phenomenal doesn't even begin to describe it. Trust me, if we had stayed another night in Vancouver, wed have gone back to eat there again. So much to choose from.
Trevor was our server, he was excellent!
Great, very knowledgeable waiter, very good suggestions inckuding wine to go with the food. Quality of food was excellent from starters to main course to desserts. Kusshi oysters and green tea tart are now our all-time favorites!
First visit. And I will be back. Very nice and friendly staff along with excellent appetizers for the price. The calamari was the best along with the crab dip. Thanks
Had the most amazing maple glazed sable fish of my life....in fact it was the best fish I’ve had in my life. Incredibly tender and bursting with flavour! Highly recommend.
All of us had a stomachache after having a seafood platter.
Fish as good as it gets.
