Coast Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was not our first time at Coast for a holiday brunch. It will not be our last either. Mother's Day was very busy but staff was so efficient and kind that it didn't matter how many diners were there. The food was wonderful, especially the hash brown breakfast potatoes. All meat served was really tender and tasty. The seafood bar was perfect with its offering of shrimp cocktail, etc. Everything was so good and we did not feel rushed through our meal. Great service with attention to customer needs, a winning combination.
I had been to Coast once before and remembered it as bright, airy, quiet, and classy. As you might expect, the level of business on Mother's Day made things just a bit less serene. At 2pm the place was still bustling with customers, and the staff were visibly tired and harried, but still friendly and welcoming.
We enjoyed the included bellini bar, and everything I tried from the lunch section of the buffet was fantastic: melt-in-your-mouth tenderloin, extremely fresh shrimp, a creative scallop & scallion salad, and several bite-sized desserts.
The view through O'Donnell park to the lake was a bonus, with the green space full of people out enjoying the nice weather.
Overall a good time, and I'll look forward to returning on a more normal day.
Coast has great tasting food and unique, cute desserts. You can tell a lot of thought and creativity is put into the menus. They mostly cater weddings at the Coast restaurant, but do offer other events to the public such as a Mother's Day Brunch. They have the best view of the lakefront in Milwaukee! Very nice patio space for cocktails as well.
Almost eVerything was very nice for Mother's Day brunch. Two disappointment s were weak/ not great coffee and not good service. Took a long time to get drinks and coffee. Had to stop other servers to ask for more coffee and took a long time to get the check when requested. Leave a carafe of coffee somewhere close for servers-not sure where they had to go to get it?
Had always wanted to try this restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. We were able to sit outside and though less than well-appointed at the outdoor metal table, it was worth it to enjoy the view and lovely summer weather. The food was delicious though not very exceptional. There is so much competition in Milwaukee, I double we will return soon, but definitely try it if you are in the area.
My sister's bachelorette party started at Coast where my requested private room was set up and looked phenomenonal! I couldn't have made it look classier myself. We tried an array of beautiful appetizers and continued on into the entrees that did not disappoint! We ended the meal with decadent cheesecakes that were the cherry on top! No one left without raving comments about every aspect of the evening! We even had the place to ourselves before the meal was over and the staff were amazing at making it a night we will not soon forget! I can't wait to go back!
You're paying for the atmosphere, it is beautiful with an amazing view. The food was bad. The asian chicken was tasteless and tuff. The desserts were sparse. The 'special" bread they brought around was light and fluffy, but tasteless. No butter on the table to put on the bread. There was one little salad saturated with dressing. Will not go there again.
We went to Coast for Easter Brunch and they were certainly accommodating for our party, which had one child and one infant. Our table was not ready when we arrived at our reservation time, but that was not a problem as their waiting area was very nice with comfy chairs. They had the bloody mary bar open for those who waited as well, which was nice. My biggest complaint was the fact that they did not have champagne available on Easter as part of the $39 brunch. I don't like bloody marys, so I was hoping for champagne (and I thought I had seen them offer it as a part of their normal Sunday brunch). The food was good, but there wasn't enough variety. I did like the fact that I could get an egg white omelette, though. The desserts were small and not to my liking. If we wanted a refill of our iced tea or milk, we had to get the servers' attention. We also had to get their attention for their famous 'popover' bread rolls. Don't get me wrong, the experience was nice, but just expected a little more for $39 a person.
This was a first time visit for several in our party for the Easter Brunch. Highlights were the build your own Bloody Mary's, the salmon, tender smoky brisket, grilled vegetables, local cheeses and tasty thinly sliced sausages. Dessert favorites were the creme brûlée and the delicious chocolate mousse. Our service was impeccable, pleasant well informed staff without being intrusive. Lastly, the setting is lovely with a beautiful view and comfortable seating. Some of us will return to sample dinner offerings.....it was a very pleasant dining experience.
I took my 90 year old mom and my daughter here for Easter brunch. The service was impeccable and the food was wonderful; including the bloody mary bar. The food was fresh and appealingly presented. So much better than brunches in other restaurants. It is a plus that the restaurant is on the lake and affords the view of the wonderful art museum. It is a great place, with wonderful food and even a cozy "living room type area". Go now!
My friends and I went out to celebrate a birthday, and we had the best time! The service, appetizers, drinks and entrees were perfect. Those who got the chicken herb bruschetta were not disappointed, and the New York strip was fantastic. We loved our dining experience at Coast.
It has been a long time since dining at COAST. I was not only pleasantly surprised but found the dining experience to be exceptional in every way. I will return soon. The staff is very professional and friendly. They will do anything to accommodate their guests. I suggest that you give it a try! I have also attended monthly group events for their happy hour and have never been disappointed with the drinks and small plates/snacks.
I stopped in for happy hour/early dinner. I was the first one there at 5:00 and another party didn't arrive until close to 6:00. Server said they are more for special occasions and groups. Food was okay. I ordered from their happy hour appetizer menu where you got special price on one appetizer and drink. Small portion but can't complain about the very cheap price. Service was poor. Great view of the Milwaukee Art Museum. Very, very quiet.
we dined at Coast for Mothers day. We had a group of 10 and were extremely happy. Our server was very good but a bit too talkative. It is not a huge ponderosa buffet but what they do offer is high quality. We also went to Boerner for Brunch on Easter Sunday which was very well enjoyed. Kind of bummed out that the gardens were not ready.
It had been a few years since I was at Coast resteraunt so I was sure what to expect. Our party of five all enjoyed the food that was hot and fresh, which doesn't always happen at bruch stations. We had excellant service and would highly recommend Coast to others.
My family went to Coast for Easter brunch and the food was OK, it was good. The place is situated in a very nice area, by the lake and the museum. The service on our table was weak though; it always took a long time to see our waitress for the additional drink, removing the dirty dishes and even getting the check.
We would definitely recommend this restaurant (Coast) to celebrate any occasion. The staff is very accommodating. While there was plenty to choose from the menu, we still wanted more variety for our big party, especially appetizers and deserts. The Beverage Director took care of that. He also helped to choose wines. The table was set and laid just as we wanted. Very good service.
A gift of a Zilli's gift card brought us to Coast. Coast is Zilli's only remaining restaurant and it is open to the public only Tues thru Fri as Zilli's focuses on their catering business. Our server informed us that the limited number of entrees (5) was reduced by one as the sirloin steak was not available. My wife and I then both elected for the filet, done medium well. Most restaurants will butterfly filets ordered medium well, but Coast did not. The order took awhile, but the filets arrived perfectly medium well. We ordered the calamari appetizer, which was fine and desserts which were also fine. Food and service were both very good. We had a lot of privacy as there were at most 4 tables going while we were there.
Coast was striving to do a nice brunch for Mother's Day and they succeeded. I personally would have appreciated more fresh salads and a different desert option rather than a chocolate fountain but the bellini bar was a nice touch and ALL of the food was exceptional. Our server, Logan, was very attentive and the servers overall seemed to work as a team to clear plates and fill waters. We will definitely be going back! The only drawback is the different "levels" of the restaurant for an elderly person to manuver for a stationed brunch. As long as other customers keep their young children from running amuk the ambience was lovely.
It was a nice brunch...not over the top with selections, which was refreshing. Four of us dined and we each had our favorites. There was enough to appeal to everyone, but not so much that you felt over-endulged. It was expensive. Therefore, I may be inclined to consider other options next go round. Did not look at the regular menu, but assume brunch price was indicative of the regular fare. If so, I may frequent only on special occasion. That would be unfortunate, because it's a beautiful location.
