Coast - Hilton Head Ratings and Reviews
Cold shell fish "Platter" wonderful as was the "Beach Club Seafood Platter". Oysters from the Raw Bar were disappointing as there was barely a teaspoon of oyster in all four together. Service was attentive and not overbearing by Alijah; good job! Ben came by and checked to make sure all was well and we couldn't think of anything to complain about. Going back later this week sums it up.
We had new years eve dinner here. Our waiter, Brian, was excellent. He was friendly, knowledgeable of the menu and assisted us in making great decisions on food choices. Although it seems noisy, at your table there is no issues in conversing at a normal level. The décor is lovely and although it is waterfront you can not see the ocean. This was a bit of a disappointment. There is a wide variety of menu choices with a wide variety of prices. We splurged since it was new years eve. We tried 2 of 2 different kinds of oysters on the half shell. Very good and a great presentation. We had a surf and turf (big lobster tail and cut with a fork filet) and a delicious shrimp and grits. We also tried the crab stew which was fantastic. We found all the staff helpful and concerned that you have a good experience. I would return next time I am in Hilton Head.
We enjoyed 3 meals here over a few days. Beautiful interior and love the pocket doors open to the patio when the weather allowed. Hush puppies were some of the best, Parmesan fries delicious, black bean and avocado sandwich was good. Kids loved the kids menu (great Mac and cheese). Regret not getting the lobster roll as it looked amazing. Servers Brian and Katia were awesome! We will surely return.
We had a new waiter that did not know the menu eat all and couldn’t answer any questions. In addition he had long hair that he brushed away from his face at least a dozen time while he served us and it was hard to watch. There were four of us and I had the seafood pasta and it had zero flavor and the cheese in the pasta was bright orange like it came out of a box. My wife had a sword fish that was good, my son had the half chicken that was, described as salty.....it was very sweet and awful. Our daughter had a burger that sadly was the stand out dish at our table.
Our service was very good. We had a party of 6 and three of us ordered the shrimp and lobster pasta and it was extremely bland and the sauce was “pastey.” We have frequented Coast a number of times, primarily lunch, and had been pleased. My daughter ordered the black bean burger and it wasn’t good either.
I will say the calamari was nice as were the hush puppies.
Wow! This was the perfect adult atmosphere to celebrate our daughter's college graduation! The meal topped off a wonderful Sea Pines Christmas trip for my family. We all enjoyed the lively ambience and the overall celebratory nature of the meal. Service was outstanding-our waiter was so attentive, especially to the guest of honor. She was thrilled! Great job, Coast and Ocean Lounge!
I just have to say that I have eaten at many nice restaurants across the country. I am a professional cook myself so I know what it's like being on the other side. The oysters were excellent and the entrees we got were good. But Katia, our server, was by far, and I'm not exaggerating, the best server I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She was nice and sweet but knew the menu like the back of her hand. She is very personable, especially so since English is her second language. I would recommend this restaurant to friends but I'd tell them to request to have Katia as their server.
What we ordered: Kale Salad, Lobster Roll, Fish Special of the Day and Blackened Shrimp Nachos
The Kale Salad was very good and flavorful. My companion thought it was dry, but it was very good to me. However, dryness is a quick fix. If you like a lot of salad dressing, just order an extra side. In my opinion this salad did not need very much dressing, the ingredients made it flavorful. The sweet potatoes were a nice accompaniment to this salad.
The Lobster Roll was disappointing. The description stated that the roll was made with a basil mayo, fried green tomatoes and smoked bacon. It was accompanied by a side of parmesan fries. I opted out of the smoked bacon because I am a pescatarian. The roll that the sandwich was on was warm, soft and very good…this was the only positive. The Lobster lacked flavor and the Lobster Claws were spongy and watery. The sandwich consisted of the Lobster Tail and Claws. I did not see, nor taste any basil in the lack-luster mayo. The fried green tomatoes were too hard and tasteless. The parmesan fries also lacked any type of flavor. Everything was pleasing to the eye, but not the palate.
The Blackened Shrimp Nachos were another disappointment. The guacamole was bland and at least half of the nacho chips tasted stale. The queso cheese had a small hint flavor.
The Fish Special of the day. This dish was a grilled fish with a tangy sauce, risotto and a carrot, onion and potato medley. This was the best dish we had; however, it was not perfect. Although the sauce was good, there was too much poured over the fish. The risotto had a really nice flavor, but was not thoroughly cooked so there were hard pieces of rice throughout. The medley of vegetables did not get any complaints.
This restaurant would be forgettable if not for the high prices! The best part of our meal were the employees, from the young lady that greeted and sat us to our waiter. They were welcoming and professional.
Horrible service; mediocre food; overpriced.
Our waiter was untrained, made demeaning jokes about our age (we are in our 60s) and at the end of the meal, told my husband that his credit card was invalid and frozen for lack of payment--then laughed and said it was a joke! It was an unnecessary and unwelcome jolt. The fish was poorly prepared and overcooked. We spoke with the manager, who did nothing for us. You are better off at the Quarter Deck or anywhere else in Sea Pines.
Great setting and I had hoped with a new menu things would be improved. Unfortunately that was not the case. How can you food that is cool rather than hot. Fish tacos were barely warm, fries were cold, burgers were served in cold buns. Gee - this is not rocket science. Serve food hot and fresh.
I have eaten at Coast many times and have never had a bad meal. The experience was fine and the waitress was lovely and she promoted a lunch special which when it arrived for me and my lunch date we both looked at it and realized it was not going to be good. The waitress described this mixed seafood salad over a bed of greens and when it arrived it looked like a scoop of Spam or pate on the plate. Presentation was horrible and so was the taste. Of course I will come back to coast as I have never had a bad meal there but was very very disappointed as was my lunch date.
I just loved the fall flavors in my entree. The pumpkin seed crusted salmon was amazing and complimented the lemon risotto and butternut squash. So delicious. My guest had the swordfish with beets puréed perfectly and sautéed greens. The presentation and tastes said “fall is here”. A wonderful meal.
