Coast - Hilton Head
Enjoy a libation at Coast's beachfront bar, offering a casual and relaxing atmosphere, spacious wrap-around bar, a variety of specialty drinks and frozen cocktails and seasonal evening entertainment.
Food took forever and then half the order was left off when it arrived .. Nice staff and always very beautiful spot to have dinner ..
Although Coast closes early, our experience suggested that they probably need to keep on late night staff. The food was amazing, the server was very solicitous (although assigned to too many tables), and the only complaint was that service was very slow. We didn’t have anywhere to be, and the live music and ambience made it a nice evening even so. Five stars but for the slow service.
We live in Sea Pines so we are not new to Coast or Ocean Lounge or the Beach Club. Our reservations were for a Friday @ 7:15. The service was slow. The bartender needed more help making drinks. Our server took a long time between taking our drink orders and serving and then taking our food order and serving. There were 8 of us so I can appreciate it took more time overall. However, we didn't start eating until 8:45. The food is typically good there so no complaints once we got served.
I would continue to recommend Coast but caution that the service when we went was slo
And, the high stools are too heavy to get up to the table and out again.
From the start of our night, all the service was behind. Water to table (in plastic solo cups!) over 15 mins. Drinks 10 mins for 3, but 20 for our fourth. Appetizers 15 more minutes. Staff literally running to tables trying to keep up on a night when the place was only moderately busy, not high season. So there was no service, just responding to our request when we could tackle a server. Asked waiter for explanation of pasta dish and what was described had no resemblance to what was received. Untrained.
After an hour and half our entrees arrived, except one. Again another 10 min wait for one poor member of our party. Server apologized over and over but little he could do to salvage the night. The meals were good. A steak was undercooked for medium, but no way it was going back to the kitchen! Asked for a sauce for the crab cakes, never came. Finally escaped just over 2 hours.
The location and ambiance of Coast is stunning. But it’s evident management is failing. Lack of training and not staffed appropriately may be a way to save money, but nights like this drive customers away and they don’t return. Get a new manager fast before this gem is gone.
Brutal. Horrible service, very delayed meal, drinks, bill. We could hear all adjoining tables having the same issue. People were leaving their tables to order from the bar because it took so long. Location was nice but a waste of a night
Coast is a gorgeous restaurant right on the ocean - definitely a family favourite! We also really like it because it’s pet friendly - a great place for Fido to hang out with his humans. The food is really good too. I had the catfish - cooked to perfection! My only complaint is the service. It took a while for someone to come to our table - unfortunately this place seems rather disorganized on that front but once our server did come by, she was quite attentive and everything was served in a timely fashion. We will be back......over and over!
We waited one hour and fifteen minutes for a hamburger. No apology from manager or waitress. We will not return.
Unfortunately, Coast has changed their menu and not for the better. The ocean front view continues to be the best in the island, but the quality of the food left a lot to be desired.
Our server was sweet and she did an OK job. The manager also was pleasant and very apologetic, but we waited a ridiculous amount of time for four salads at lunchtime. They were skimpy portions and too expensive. They're usually better and more worth the price. I eat here regularly and this was just a very off day. Had dinner at the beach bar a few nights earlier and everything was perfect.
Beautiful restaurant but disappointing food . It was not consistent with the prices.
The pasta and seafood were good and the shrimp and chips also but the catfish and chips were very lacklustre not worth $19 for a small piece of fish and some cafeteria French fries.
WE ENJOYED OUR DINNERS , SERVICE A LITTLE SLOW , BUT NOT A PROBLEM,GREAT VENUE
Coast is great for ambiance! Spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean! Service was extremely slow! Food was good, and a little expensive.
This was to be night out for better dining. We received table near window as requested. The waiter (Brian) was serving at least six tables with 5 or more folks. He was inattentive to our order. I got salmon instead of swordfish; had to wait for 15 minutes to get meal which was underdone. No, I don’t like overdone sword or sushi. Manager took my order off bill. Without drinks, tab for one entree, salad and cup of soup was $80. There was nothing special about preparation or presentation. It was ok to look out over patio of people and occasionally see ocean. I think the overall experience was OK, not great; definitely, not worth price paid.
Our server Latrese was dear, sweet and so accommodating. Best dinner experience in Sea Pines by far
Had good service
If I could give more stars I would. The good experience started the moment we walked in and were greeted. Our food was perfectly cooked and delicious. I had the lobster roll and it was packed with lobster. I had them hold the bacon, because I couldn’t see the point of covering the taste of the lobster. My husband had the special, which was sea bass. It was also very good. The indoor seating is very nice with a good view. Outside there is plenty of seating with conversational fire pits. Also a nice outside bar. Very lovely spot on the island and we will be back!
I booked this in advance for our anniversary and let them know ahead of time. The server had 0 personality, we were near a window but there was a curtain against our table. This is advertised at oceanfront however there were no lights outside and far from the water so at night the view was your reflection in the window. They had fire tables outside but didn't offer us to sit indoors. There was no energy in the restaurant although we understand it was off season and for a seafood restaurant other than a rawbar there was little seafood options. We both ended up ordering soup and cheeseburgers. Once we were handed our credit card bill to sign, the waitress mumbled Happy Anniversary. We cannot get a redo on this evening and traveled 6 hours to get there. Very disappointed in my choice
Small restaurant - the outside wasn’t open due to weather but it looked very nice outside to dine al fresco. Limited menu but food was excellent
I would recommend the Coast for LUNCH outside on the patio or at the bar during good weather. I would Not recommend Coast for dinner as the food was not good that I ordered plus the two of us that ordered a salad had to get the waiter's attention to have the applicable dressing brought to us as it was served with no dressing. Wait time for meal was longer than necessary as it was not crowded in the early evening.
We have always loved the Coast... the ambiance is perfect. That said, we were disappointed with the food and margaritas this trip. We mentioned the drinks... we did not mention the food disappointment to the staff.
The recommendation to friends would have an asterisk of what to be potentially concerned with...
The food was really good. The waitress was mediocre. The ambiance was missing. There was a large, loud and raucous party. Management didnt consider asking them to quiet down after we complained. I guess because their check was larger than ours.
Great food, very good service, great location
Sonja was our waitress and she was great! Gave great recommendation on food and drink. Very pleasant and attentive. Great ambiance for a Valentines day evening and not too crowded.
Valentines Day. Excellent service. Food is very good. We will continue to return.
Was disappointed. My wife had a shrimp salad that maybe had a 1/3 of a cup salad on it. I had the Cuban Sandwich. It was OK.
Service was slow.
The food was amazing, service was superb and ambiance was romantic sofiatication.
Highly recommend Coast to anyone visiting the SeaPines Plantation
Food and service was the usual high standard. Service was excellent, even though Coast was more crowded then the beach
Great food. Great service by Mike. We will return when we visit HHI.
Great place to enjoy a nice meal! We had the 6oz steaks & they were cooked just right. The sides were simple & perfect. Wine list is not extensive, but definitely has some nice wines.
Beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean. Venue is updated and a newer building with a nice patio. Food was fine- we just had lunch, a salad, shrimp and corn fritters. They were fine and the shrimp was a large serving of good value. We would go back for the nice service and amazing view especially.
we went on a very slow night, due to the time of year and choice of day. place was very quiet as a result. service and food quality was very high level. Good selection to meet a range of individual choices.
Service impeccable, fabulous ocean view, great food, great outdoor bar. One of the best spots on the island!
We had a delicious meal in quiet surroundings (off season) in a Tuesday night in January. Our waiter was excellent and informative. The crab stew was a little over-spiced for me but the chunks of crab were fabulous! The lobster salad was beautifully presented and generous- the hint of mustard in the dressing took away from the lobster flavor, so I can’t say it’s the best I’ve had - lobster can stand alone! The carrot cake, however, was the best I’ve had. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well, with the salmon a favorite.
Lovely evening on a cold winter night. The restaurant was nearly empty with only one other table. Hubby had the seafood platter with perfectly prepared swordfish. I had the salmon encrusted in pistachios-delicious. They have a very good Cesar salad. Lovely location on the beach. Sea Pines residents can enjoy a 20% discount an food and beverages during this time.
Wonderful experience. Great food, service and setting upstairs in the bar. It made for a great first date with a special lady !
Excellent Mahi Mahi dish - fantastic. And service by our waiter Pierce was superb. Really nice dinner experience !!
I came here for my birthday dinner with my family. The food was very good (Kale salad and pistachio salmon). The service, however, was pretty awful. It took us about 45 minutes after sitting down to get our wine, and an hour and 45 minutes after sitting down to get our food. Overall just very slow for a restaurant that was not even half full. I expected the restaurant to provide SOMETHING for my birthday, considering they called me that morning to confirm the reservation and asked if I was celebrating a special occasion, but nothing. Great food, but not the best experience.
Sandwich and fries cold. Peel shrimp soaked in chili powder--strange. Nice wait staff. Beautiful view of ocean.
Excellent food but limited menu. Been there in the past and will go again. Enjoyable atmosphere. Excellent outdoor setting.
We made an early reservation so we could see the ocean a bit before the sun set so it was nice and quiet. Our server was from London and was delightful - just the right amount of conversation. He made excellent recommendations on food and wine. And the food was delicious. I had the lobster roll which was the best I have ever had ( even in Maine)! My husband had the swordfish special and he chose the "naked" option with came with lemon risotto. The risotto was fabulous - like the best comfort food ever. If we make it back to Hilton Head Coast will be high on our list!
