Have eaten here many times and it never disappoints. The view is like no other. Waves were crashing on the rocks right up to building. Absolutely gorgeous.
My experience of the Coast Guard was fantastic overall. everything was perfect they even put in for the special request that i put in for a specific seat.
The view is unbeatable and the food is great! Valet parking is also a plus. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The only negative was that the waiter seemed to be rushing us out in order to turn over the table. He never asked us if we wanted coffee or dessert and gave us the check before we were quite finished eating. I feel it was our waiter only because i noticed neighboring tables didn't have the same problem. We were celebrating our anniversary and were not ready to leave after 40 minutes. We tried not to let it put on damper on our happy occasion.
Its one of our favorite places!!
Most definitely will recommend great food and a great view
Beautiful restaurant! Brunch was great!
Outstanding food and service. Noisier than I would’ve preferred but will not keep us from going back!
The Coast Guard House is always good. Regrettably, too many of its patrons dress shabbily even though they know they are at special, historical, white-tablecloth place. We don't think it can be helped: There's a lot of wealthy people that like to announce to the plant that these people are so self-important that dining at this expensive, excellent place is no more to them than buying discount toilet paper at Walmart. Indeed, most of the diners look like they just came from Walmart.
Excellent views. Good food. Excellent service. The creme brulee with fig chantilly was exceptional.
Excellent food, outstanding service & great ocean view.
Great from all aspects
I went to the Coast Guard House for a get together with friends. Most of us had seafood which we thoroughly enjoyed. I had Salmon Wellington which was full of flavor and looked beautiful. Our server was animated, attentive but not pesty, and suggested a lovely wine to accompany our meals.
The quality of their filet mignon is superb, and served exactly to the doneness requested. Sauce of potato and leek and ? was a bit gummy. More traditional burgundy, mushroom sauce would have been preferable. Maybe allow a choice of sauces? Fish and chips nicely done. Serving them without paper doily on plate would make them easier to eat. Lobster bisque very flavorful. A few chunks of lobster would make it superb appropriate for the price. Tuesday Candles made a very festive atmosphere.

The candle light evening was amazing with candles glowing everywhere. The sconces, candles, forsythia decor, and views were the focal points of the night. We enjoyed a bottle of wine, fresh gnocchi, perfectly seasoned pasta w/clams, and fantastic cheesecakes. Our server, Jessica, was attentive and capable, in spite of a very busy night. We will certainly return for next month's candle light dinner event!
Great views, wonderful food, exemplary service. Doesn’t get better than this.
Two of our group had the specials and raved about them. We've noticed that this restaurant often does a good job with its specials.
On a very busy night we were seated in a very timely manner at our appointed time. We had a wonderful table facing the water and the waiter was excellent in all regards. The meal was exactly as described and arrived in short order. We were not rushed and never pressured. A wonderful dining experience.
Delicious and substantial piece of grilled swordfish. Started with grilled octopus in mild glaze sauce. Restaurant very bust at 5:30 on Saturday. Waiter was attentive.
We go for the view --- it's like a visit to the beach. The food is New England comfort food ... no surprises. Very crowded on weekend evenings - but week nights and lunches are perfect.
View was spectacular as usual. Staff seems well organized and friendly, restaurant is clean. But the food was no where near what it should be. Hard to recommend this restaurant with the kitchen issues.
This was my first time here and it was worth the drive. Our bartender was attentive, kind, and very professional. Our dinner was amazing, my husband said it was the best swordfish he’s ever eaten. We definitely will be back. ☺️
Great Meal as always here. The atmosphere and the whole dining experience is very special. Sometimes it gets a bit loud, but that just means it is full of lots of happy customers! As always Coast Guard, THANK YOU! See you soon.
Great place to dine. Buck a shuck is fun. Food was fabulous and service excellent.
We always enjoy our meals at The Coast Guard House due to its varied menu, great service, and wonderful drinks. We took advantage of Restaurant Week and each of the 3 courses was terrific. The seafood fritters, pasta dishes, and desserts were gernerous and we would certainly order them again. Our server was delightful, very capable, and personable. It was a perfect dinner with a gorgeous ocean view!
I took an out of state guest for dinner and (being seafood lovers) both ordered the lobster roll. We were so disappointed with the meal as the serving was far from traditional. We both wished we had been warned that the lobster mixture included herbs far from traditional fare. We both considered sending our meals back but didn't want to make a scene. Being a good chef includes keeping traditions alive and one's creativity should be reserved for house meals. The service was wonderful and the ambience unbeatable but I will never recommend the lobster roll to anyone.
Our dish wasn’t great. We went for brunch and my dish was cold. Which with eggs , bacon, cheddar cheese, and a biscuit it being cold really made it not the best. The quality of the ingredients were great but the execution of the dish wasn’t great.
Our waiter Mark was very pleasant and gave us a little history of the restaurant.
Saturday night is lively, but lovely nonetheless. Excellent food as usual, excellent service as usual.
Food and service was excellent! And you cannot beat the view. It’s a great experience.
Had the Sunday Brunch and was delicious...baked eggs with polenta and shrimp with grits. Always start with oysters and they were delightful. One of the best mignonette around
Our server was polite, knowledgeable and pleasant. Used the valet parking service and he attendant was quick and polite. Great afternoon at a place we always look forward to being at. And let’s face it has one of the best views in New England!
I go to this restaurant frequently and I am never disappointed
We hadn’t been in years now we don’t know why would definitely go again and bring the family!
Felicia was the best!
Our party of four had 4 different main courses and 4 different starters and all were excellent. Have 5 different drinks and all were spot on. The view of Narragansett Bay was outstanding and our server was terrific. Perfect evening out.
It was not crowded when we were there which helped with the noise. Service was outstanding, and the food was superb (fussy world-travelers were in the group and raved about the oceanside setting and the great food).
Ocean was furious and fun to watch!!
Coast Guard House is one of my favorite places to go when I am up in Rhode Island. Great food, great service. The view is beautiful and I would definitely recommend it!
Food and drinks were delightful. Our server was pleasant with a nice sense of humor. Very knowledgeable about menu and wine list. A wonderful evening for these sisters just having a nice evening out. Our server even brought out a small sample of the pasta sauce that was used on the special this evening to see if it was something one of us would like since it was a new sauce we had never had. That’s being well taken care of!!!!!
Beautiful views. Delicious food. Excellent service!
The staff was extremely accommodating and it was clear the food was prepared on demand and fresh. I'd definitely visit this place again.
