Coast Guard House
Being Rhode Islanders, we frequently order calamari. We were both disappointed. Some of it was not crisp; it all left a greasy taste in the mouth. We would not choose this appetizer again.
We, however, liked the main courses, the service and the ambience.
Food was excellent and service pleasant and efficient. Beautiful table overlooking the water. Definitely will be back.
Lobster mac and cheese was absolutely delicious will definitely order it again
It was our first visit. Really enjoyed the experience. Look forward to coming back when then weather is warmer.
Always a pleasure. Great staff and excellent food
great server, good table near window. Food was great
The food was good and the desserts were awesome. Loved the oatmeal bread pudding and cheesecake.
Creative menu, but the waitstaff should quote the prices when presenting specials. I shouldn't have to ask "how much is that" after hearing the description of some tantalizing dish. Also, not crazy about the martini glasses or how they are made. Too watery. Otherwise a fantastic place that I will visit again.
Wonderful service. The staff was very attentive and helpful. It was a special evening.
Everyone visiting or living in Narragansett should visit Coast Guard House! It is consistent with their delicious food, attentive servers, comfortable atmosphere, and gorgeous views from all tables. Their seafood is always fresh & well prepared and fairly priced, too. I would recommend this restaurant for a casual night out or a very special occasion. Excellent!
Our brunch experience was heightened by the storm at sea and the fantastic waves. The veg soup was “ greasy “! The options were supposed to be top notch, but taste was flat. I had crab cake.. nothing special. Bloody Mary recipe was obviously “different!”. OK but I wish I was earned. May have chosen another drink. Waiter was good in describing specials etc. but after he served, he disappeared. Had to flag him for check.
Would I recommend Coast Guard House to a friend? Sure, for the view alone. The food was pretty good, expensive for what it was, and with a surprising few seafood dishes - much fewer than a spectacular seaside setting like this should warrant. Our waiter Sean was delightful, although he misunderstood our order, but quickly corrected the error. I was surprised that the hostess took us initially to a table in the back by the kitchen door, when I had made the reservation a day before and arrived early, and there were several tables closer to the view available. I refused the first table and had to wait for the young hostess to get permission to seat us where we preferred. I was disappointed. My assumption was that we were first directed to the worst table because we were two women dining alone, or because I had booked on Open Table and not by phone. In either case, it was unacceptable.
had the scallop meal which had a beef type broth seemed inappropriate for scallops. scallops were cook perfect but way too much arrogiala which literally covered my meal. Love the restaurant and have had great food in the past but this dish will be a pass for me in the future unless its revised.
Our favorite restaurant of all time...incredible view, service, and food. Huge portions of delicious food with great daily specials.
Excellent service and great view!
Greatest place. Food, atmosphere, drinks, and service
I love the Coastguard House and while I'm there frequently it never gets boring - probably because it's on the water and the ocean is always changing, and new. The food is great, the service was terrific and it's just a nice elegant but cozy place, especially on a snowy Sunday evening. Thank you!
Outstanding service and seafood was amazing!
Music was too loud so it was difficult for a table of 3 people to easily talk. Choice of music was soft rock from 70's. Better choise would be soft jazz.
Everything was perfect as usual. We had a perfect seating location. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive. The food was great. They met all our reservation requests.
A little salty whe I was eating my salmon and also the bisque soup.
Great Sunday brunch, food was great...and mother nature entertained with unbelievable surf and waves!!
Excellent meal. Great service.
Very enjoyable as always !
You can’t beat the view, attentive service, and great food and drink.
I guess I get here about once a yr & can't remember the last time I was disappointed. The impressive view, the relatively acceptable noise level, interesting menu, delicious meal. My dining partner & I were most impressed by our waitress, who anticipated & met our every need & went beyond w/an offering of some white wines to sample after noting our inclination towards seafood choices. She capped a wonderful night!
Great food and service.
Lobster roll was chock full of tasty lobster claw meat. Very attentive service.
Wonderful views...great food...pleasant staff.
Owner Bob Leonard is warm and welcoming!
At about halfway through our lunch, a very strong chemical odor came from the washroom area (our table was against the windows just south of the restrooms). I asked the server if someone was spraying ant/ bug spray (that’s what it smelled like) he checked and said no. Later my brother used the men’s room - he said that there was a strong noxious odor in there. It really spoiled my lunch. Never happened before and I hope it never does again!
Love the Coast Guard House. My favorite restaurant in Narragansett.
Food, service and location were outstanding!! This was our 6th wedding Anniversary celebration. We also had our 4th one there!!
The French toast was so soggy and gross.
The service was terrible. We have eaten brunch there before are had the French toast and recommended it to everyone. Everyone hated it
The main reason I will never go back to the Coast Guard house is the noise level. It is never an enjoyable experience when you have to shout at the person next to you when conversing.
Unfortunately, no one thought to add acoustic tiles when designing the interior. While it is true other establishments have made the same ommision, it is not a good excuse to do same.
Great food, romantic atmosphere and Gluten free friendly.
The Coast Guard House is the perfect spot to enjoy a beautiful evening as you enjoy a delicious meal. The staff was just perfectly attentive. The menu is just inventive enough and the prices were less than I would expect to pay given experience. The food itself was well executed. Our group ordered a diverse selection of food which covered the general scope of the menu and all agreed that their food was excellent.
Celebrated Valentine’s Day, had a great experience. Atmosphere and food was awesome
Stopped in for lunch. Beautiful day down here Saturday. As expected, service was great, food was delicious. They have a nice lunch menu and had several great specials. Who says it is a Summer place! Great year round. How can you not enjoy a great meal, with a great local pale ale while looking out at the beautiful bay. sun glistening off the water...…………...salmon was perfect, clam chowder great, as I said, service was great as well.
We had a window table with the surf crashing about 5 yard away, but unfortunately the light fog prevented us from viewing the Newport Bridge. We ordered the nightly specials, baked oysters and two "Rye Not" drinks. All items were fantastic. Looked good, smelled good and were very tasty. It was one of our best restaurant meals, ever. We WILL be back.
