Our server was lovely but had been allotted too many tables. It took an hour and a half to get our first course. A manager came to make a very poor apology and was not at all gracious. The food was cold when it arrived. A very bad experience.
We have two recommended the coast guard house without disappointment.
We enjoyed our experience.
Great portions and views
Everything was great, but a fly kept hovering over our food. I mentioned it, but no one tried to do anything, like swat the fly. The fly kept landing in my food. Yuck.
The swordfish was a special treat and everything was great! Thank you! It was great that we could pay for the reservation in advance (daughter from Alaska wanted to treat us!) Thank you everyone. We'll be back!
Excellent as always. The Coast Guard House never disappoints. Great service always. Lobster bisque is a fav...
Asked for outdoors in open table app second year in a row didn’t accommodate
Excellent! Will definitely be returning here. The outside patio was beautiful
Well love the location and enjoyed the place before However the FLY issue was very off putting and my meal was all about swatting flies my daughters salad was only half eaten because of FLYS landing on her food and they didn't offer a replacement or refund..
My recommendation if you see a fly avoid as you'll have a meal dominated by swatting them away...
Generally a very pleasent experience. Godd food and a very nice wine list. The one glaring deficiency was the overpiced champaigne. Since I like champagne with my lobster, it put a damper on the whole evening.
I was disappointed with the lobster tamale, which I've loved before. This time it was so drenched in sauce that the masa was falling apart, the lobster was a bit overcooked, and there was no cilantro in it other than a big sprig stuck on top. Everyone else liked their meals, but since I ordered this as my main course, I was not pleased.
Service was not up to par! No excuse for it! Restaurant was not busy! Sorry 😐
Always loved this restaurant. The location can’t be beat and views from everywhere inside and out are breathtaking. The food is excellent and usually you can decide on fine dining or a casual lobster roll. The staff is friendly and attentive. On a hot summer day or night I used to love to sit on the upper level for ambiance but the indoor Sunday brunch a treat all year
I went with mom for her birthday and it was a great ambience and the food was delicious!
Always a great time at The Coast Guard House. Service was outstanding, the food was very good and the views are magnificent. The noise level is very high which can make conversations difficult at times. For a quieter time ask for a table outside or away from the bar. Can't wait to go back.
Everything about our meal and experience was perfect! We had such a good time at dinner — we went back the next day for lunch!! Swordfish off the charts, generous, tasty and fresh lobster roll. Personable bartender, Jim, behind the bar was icing on the cake. 👍👍👍
Nice place, great vibe, cool views definitely worth stopping
We showed up 20 min early but our table wasn't ready after 20 min they told us our table was still occupied and we were seated in the bar area that had a table that had been empty since we arrived.
Our server forgot to mention the specials or ask if we wanted cheese or anything on our burger. We had to flag down one of the other servers to have them track ours down.
We were disappointed the coast guard house has always been a must on our visits to Narragansett.
Having been to The Coast Guard House several times before, I must say that I was dissapointed with this last visit. We were entertaining family from out of state and wanted to bring them somewhere nice for our final night together. First off, the noise coming from the "club" atmosphere on the rooftop restaurant was almost intolerable. Loud thumping bass coming from the ceiling for the first hour of our dinner. The food was OK, but took over 45 minutes to come to the table, during which time our server (who was very nice) just kept repeating "your food should be right out". When it did come out, my pasta (which I do like al-dente) was under-cooked.
All in all, not what we were looking for.
I was expecting something exceptional but to my surprise the food was very average. The best part of the resturant is the view of the ocean if you have a table by the window.
Maybe I would classify this resturant as a place to have drinks and eat somewhere else.
Outstanding!! My husband said the swordfish was the best he’s ever had. Beautiful location with great ocean view. Fun outdoor bar area.
Can’t be the view!!! It was a very busy day, so service was a little slow. Most food was good, lobster ravioli was amazing!
Beautiful place with unbelievable view. Only negative is the lack of parking. Even valet was turning people away.
The view was spectacular and the food was delicious
Great food, great atmosphere. Very nice experience. Would def recommend.
Brenda was our server and she was AMAZING. My boyfriend has the linguini with clam sauce and I had the fish & chips. Both so good. Shared the soup of the day (shrimp & corn chowder) and mussels for appetizers. Would highly recommend. Can’t wait to come again!
This is one of the rare restaurants in the area with very good food, plus it's enhanced by a wonderful view of the water. Service is good, too, and it has a lively bar as well as outdoor seating. Highly recommend the arugula salad with yuzu dressing.
Service and food both outstanding. I had the monkfish and my wife had the halibut.
As always, I love the Coast Guard House. I brought friends for lunch and the lived it too!
My parents, ages 85 and 89 said they have NEVER been to the Coast Guard house but all their friends have been over the years. So, my husband and I took them for dinner there and they were so happy😋 great view, lived the food and atmosphere! Thank you for agreat night!
Great food, great service & a view that can’t be topped!
Incredible views and a great menu. The service was fantastic as well. Can't beat it.
We were happy to dine again at this favorite local restaurant. The linguine & littleneck dish was perfect and the portion was very generous. The bolognese was just as delicious and it's my husband's "go to" dish. The desserts are always interesting, so we tried the bread pudding with whiskey caramel sauce...yummy! The bottle of wine was reasonable and the bread is always fresh & perfectly baked. As always, the night was perfect.
Unfortunately we cannot give the Coast Guard House top marks. The setting is fabulous and we looked forward to eating there with the terrific seaside views. Although our meals were very good (lobster ravioli and seafood linguini) the experience my husband and I had was greatly impacted by one very negative aspect: flies! We were not sure if they were prevalent in the entire restaurant because other diners close to us did not appear to be bothered. We were at a table all the way to the rear of the restaurant near the kitchen. There were flies and something smaller (gnats or fruit flies?) concentrated in the window area next to our table. They flew around us and our food just enough to be most annoying. We mentioned this to two members of the wait staff and the only reply was “oh, sorry.” We ate our meals quickly and did not linger, eager to escape the pesky pests!
The ambience was very nice. Our dinner was mediocre, not quite worth the money. There were several flies in the restaurant that continued to annoy us throughout our dinner. We enjoyed sitting out back afterwards.
Beautiful spot, great and friendly service and great food!
Sat outside on deck. Excellent service very good drinks prices were reasonable I have had better fish and chips though at other places. My husband had an excellent cheeseburger.
This is a great location with a wonderful view. The food and drinks were great.
Food and service was great but the restaurant did not honor our instructions or even read them until I pointed them out at arrival. I requested a table by the water on the outside area and mentioned it was for a birthday and we sit there every year at same table. When we arrived I had to point out the request I made in our reservation and was told, outside seating is first come first served and they did nothing to try to accommodate us.
We drove four hours from NY about to begin a much awaited RI vacation. Upon arrival, the man ‘working’ the parking lot refused to park our SUV. I nicely explained that we have reservations and drove for four hours and very much wanted to enjoy lunch with our children. The man rudely just said,”I will NOT park your car lady.” He forced us to leave. I will never ever try to eat at this restaurant. And I will certainly let everyone I know understand how horribly we were treated.
Great service, great views, great food!
