I came here years ago on several family vacations and had a very positive experience. However, after returning for another visit, I can’t say that I’d necessarily come back. The food was good, decent, but not memorable. Service was OK - they seemed understaffed and our waitress was difficult to find at times as she was dealing with several large tables in addition to hers. Also - another issue - flies. Two were buzzing around my friend and I as we ate. I do not expect to see flies in a restaurant like this but there you have it. Bottom line - I think this place is living off reputation and location, especially with vacationers/tourists more so than the actual quality of the meals.
Great brunch, food and service top notch. Because of reservation, got a grwat window seat. Poached egg perfect. Red potatoes delicious. Kind of a little too loud for me but will def go back
The food is pretty good but service is awful. They need more experienced and people savvy people at host station. More staff is needed-not sure if the problem is the kitchen or the wait staff or bus staff. An otherwise lovely view and good food was marred by long waits for food, long gaps in service, and interminable waits for everything else. It was a 2.5 hour lunch and we did not even have dessert nor a second round of beverages. Never again.
It was great experience, The food was excellent and abundant. I will be back
Everything was excellent. Always worth the trip no matter how many in the date or group. Sorry I can't make your 2000 min hand surgery.
The food was just ok. The service is fair, the silverware was dirty and the bottle of wine was warm, (white wine). I think the Coast Guard House is a great spot for the chairs looking out at the water of the deck. The food has gone down hill.
We go to this restaurant annually on our family vacation. Although the restaurant can be quite loud the food is good and the service is very gracious and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant based on the food and the cool waterfront location. Reservations are hard to come by so make one in advance
We had such a special night and our server David was absolutely fantastic! Attentive, engaging, and made a special night even more memorable!
Very pleasantly surprised with menu and food quality.
The views and ambience have always been great but after hearing from others that the food had come up multiple notches, we took the opportunity to enjoy an early Wednesday Narragansett dinner. Hanger steak on a bed of arugula was done perfectly and presented very well. My wife had fish and chips(wow) and equally pleased. We will be back.
The only recommendation would be to offer more tailored keto(low low carb) and paleo choices.
The best waterfront location in Rhode Island and the food is very good.
The upstairs bar and dining is also a fun place after the beach and for happy hour.
My husband and I have been to Narragansett numerous times but never had the pleasure of dining at the Coast Guard House. All I can say is WOW! It was a wonderful experience and we cannot wait to return! From cocktails, apps, entrees to wonderful service with a magnificent view...you will love this place!
Superbly cooked and presented local seafood. Our server, Michael, was excellent! The decor is gorgeous, and there is a variety of indoor and outdoor seaside seating.
We drove from Connecticut to take our family who was visiting from Canada. The view is absolutely spectacular! The food delicious! We would go again in a heartbeat even if it’s over an hour drive!
We enjoyed a spectacular view and a great meal.
Best Bolognese in Rhode Island!
Service spectacular. Jackie awesome.
celebrated my mom's birthday here (87); food was fabulous, my only down would be that they did not offer her free dessert for her birthday; most restaurants do that, especially with an elderly person.
We had a great the waiter was excellent and the food was great.
We had the best time at coast guard house. The lobster roll was delish and we had the best calamari in town. We didn’t get a chance to see the gorgeous view so we will have to come back again.
Meh. We had such high hopes...the food was fine but forgettable. We went on a cloudy day and I’m wondering if the weather had been spectacular, would we felt more positively about the food as well? Clearly on a pretty day, the restaurant can’t be beat in terms of the view. That said, We had oysters which were altogether butchered, calamari had a decent fry but otherwise tasteless and the accompanying minonettte was worthless. THe stuffies were also disappointing...very few clams, all breading, I’d take A tray of frozen Matlaw’s over them any day. Grab a cocktail on a sunny day, enjoy the scenery and leave it at that maybe.
Food excellent. Water views outstanding. Service this time was uneven. Drinks took forever. Food came right away. A bit noisy at 1:30. But two large groups near us, one with 2 small crying children, madd noise unavoidable.
Always a delicious meal. View is spectacular. Very noisy though - my elderly mom had trouble hearing our conversation. I had trouble hearing our conversation.
Still - I would go back.
Amazing view and food was good Except for the pasta dish which was a little bland
Have eaten here many times. Always a good meal until this last time dinning. Found several hairs in my food, big turn off. Didn’t say anything as we were at a client dinner didn't want to make a scene. Restaurant very crowded as it is summer season. Waitress was very nice.
Worst service we’ve experienced in a long time.
We went on a Tuesday, and would expect for the amount of business they do they could hire good servers...
Our table and others were waiting a long time for any server to help us order entrees and receive any drinks we ordered.
Food was OKAY- nothing to write home about.
Outstanding view good fries.
Everything was great the biggest shrimp cocktail I ever seen and eaten
We had reservations but when we arrived the lot was full. There was no street parking available. I called and was told the valet would come out and open the lot. After sitting in a no parking zone for 15 minutes we finally got in.Beautiful spot but was spoiled by overdone eggs and noisy neighbors. Doubt we will return which is sad as we've been here every year on our vacation.
Generally, I am dubious of ocean front restaurants, especially in regards to food quality and service, but the Coast Guard House is a suprise exception to my experiences. The location is stunning—right on the Narragansett Beach, but the food was excellent! The whole belly fried clams were the best I’ve ever had—and as a New Englander, I have enjoyed them up and down the coast. Every dish my friends ordered was enjoyed. And the service was excellent! Our server was knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive to our various needs. We all left really pleased by the Coast Guard House experience. The valet parking was invaluable on the perfect beach day.
Excellent as always. A spectacular location right on the water.
Phenomenal server ... we were able to enjoy our girls weekend kick off dinner! Delish lobster tamale and over stuffed lobster ravioli!! Yum!
Our server paced the evening perfectly !!
The view was incredible. Drinks....ok.... Service....ok.,,.... Food was excellent.
Great service and fine food. As always, seated in a timely fashion and great waitstaff.
While the view is fantastic, the noise level is totally unacceptable. We asked our waiter, Eric, if the piped in music could be lowered, and his reply was that that would not be done as they "have to play to the exterior seating". We find this to be obnoxious, and a poor attitude by the management.
It has been years since we visited here, and we will not return. We will warn our friends to avoid this place unless they are fond of loud music with the dining experience.
With the several other venues nearby, we will not lack for good food in the area, but the prevailing attitude that leads to an overly "bright" noise level seems to be unique to the USA. We visit in Europe often, and never have this problem there. In the first place there is no need for music since we are looking for a pleasant dining experience - not a concert.
We come here for special occasions , birthdays and anniversaries. We are always pleased with the service and the food. My daughter joined us and said that this was the best meal she had had in a long time.
My favorite Rhode Island restaurant. The food is fabulous, well prepared, creative, and elegant. The fish is fresh and the wine list is very good. The service is attentive and knowledgeable about the food, wine, and area. The view is an added bonus. A most enjoyable dining experience
Very rare to find a restaurant with both a spectacular view and very good food. All our seafood dishes were delicious. The service was outstanding—thank you, Erica! We will definitely eat here again. The only slight negative was the noise level, which made conversation difficult.
Without a doubt the best restaurant in Narragansett! Food, view, service, atmosphere were all fantastic!!!!
Monkfish in curry was excellent. Local oysters were so tiny, I'm surprised they would serve something so small and charge top dollar (as big as my thumb nail). Desserts were amazing - chocolate flourless cake and flan were unique and so rich but not overly heavy. Amazing views and waitstaff were attentive and friendly, especially to my two young children.
I would definitely return. You can dine more casual on the upper deck with ocean views or
indoor below which also has ocean views. The place to have lunch or dinner if you are in the area.
Good food. Good service. We had a group of 5 and 4 ordered lobster. They only had 2 available. Not sure how that happens at a place like that in a location like that...? But still was good and would go back.
Would like to have better seating. Was a little loud to talk. Had a special lunch with friends from out of town
