Beautiful restaurant & lounge overlooking Narragansett Bay and Town Beach!! Great service in an "energetic" and friendly atmosphere. During the summer months the outdoor patio areas and upstairs/roof bars are a 'must visit'...and the CGH staff is always on point!!
The swordfish was cooked perfectly. The view was spectacular. The service was first class.
The calamari has always been excellent, but tough this time, and it was quickly corrected without question. Attentive service with no hint of being rushed.
Candlelight dinner nights are a great event! Will come again.
Food was excellent service was okay could have been better.
We went to the monthly Candle Light dinner and the restaurant looked lovely. We enjoyed wine, delicious linguini & clams, and 2 tremendous desserts. I am always appreciative that the chef let's me switch to penne and goes easy on the garlic, per my request. We have already booked next month's Tuesday Candle Light dinner!
Beautiful, historic restaurant right on the ocean for any time... but Candlelight Dinners at the Coast Guard House are absolutely elegant! The seasonal decorating & lighting create an ambience that relaxes everyone, from diners to the staff. Nothing like it!
We always love coming to the Coast Guard House as it is consistently great. We ordered the halibut, the monkfish, the pork special and the lobster ravioli. All were great except for the lobster ravioli which is usually great. The pasta was very undercooked and the sauce was too strong with the flavor of sherry. The lobster inside was ground up and not appealing in taste or texture.
We always enjoy the Brussel sprouts and all the appetizers. The bread pudding was good!
Will be back!
I can’t decide which was better... the view or the food!
My husband and I both enjoyed our meals... the tomato bacon jam with the polenta and scallops was extraordinary! Thanks
Excellent food service and you can’t beat the view! Our go to for special occasions and to take our out of town guests!
The dining room was very loud when we arrived. The salad we ordered did not come out until after our meal had arrived. The food was good. I have had better meals at the restaurant.
Wonderful location with a distinct outdoor presence. The meal presentation was great and we enjoyed our dinners immensely. Michael, our waiter, was very attentive and personable. We would definitely stop there again if in the area.
Coast Gaurd House is our restaurant if choice when guests ckme to visit. The beauty of the state of Rhode Island is captured in this establishment. We live to come here without guests as well.
Coast Guard House has been on our list of places to try since we toured The Towers for my daughters wedding. She has since decided not to be be married at The Towers; she is doing a small backyard wedding next year; but I decided to take her and a few others, for a special birthday lunch. Boy were we all so happy with our meals, ambiance, view, on and on and on. We will definitely be back and will recommend to everyone!
Love this place. Go frequently. Can’t say anything negative.
I hadn’t seen my friend since high school. She visited, and I wanted her to see and feel the uniqueness of Rhode Island. The Coast Guard House provided a real Rhode Island experience on the water. The food and ambiance were perfect.
We have been to the Coast Guard Restaurant several times, mostly for lunch. This was our “date night” and we were unfortunately seated at a corner table near a party of 12 very loud voices. We asked for a table switch and the staff came to our immediate aid. We then had a nice little table near the bar where the volume was more tolerable. Food was excellent, portions just right. Service was good and friendly.
We had a problem making our original reservation time and they held the table for us so we didn’t have to rush SO KIND. Food was divine but that’s a given here. Server was knowledgeable, made us comfortable and never interrupted us when talking, our every need was met. When first went in music was a bit loud as speaker was near table Asked serverif it could be lowered which he handled without skipping a beat. Valet service was perfect as usual Polite and courteous Another great experience
Fabulous afternoon with friends all the staff friendly, courteous just so so nice
Reserves for early Sunday brunch. There was a charity run earlier and the restaurant filled up quickly. Even with a large number of customers coming within a few minutes, the service was impeccable and the food superb.
Our sever (Britney) was very good and friendly. Our friend cannot eat gluten and the server explained quite a few options as well as some dishes that could be modified. The three of us enjoyed our appetizers and our meals. We asked about Brunch on Sundays and she explained what was offered and brought us a Brunch menu to take home. We shared a couple of desserts which were great. Overall it was a great experience.
I never been more disappointed in a restaurant as I was with the Coast Guard House! I brought friends from out of state to show off some of our beautiful R.I areas and the great restaurants we have, should have saved the ride and stay in Providence! The server was nice and polite, however, a very poor lack of training! I don't blame him for it. I blame management for not taking the time to trained him properly! Seems to me training doesn't exist in any work place today! Took more than 15 minutes to get water on the table only because I ask one of the bus persons. Our drinks arrived even later, having to ask what was taking so long. The manager, "I think he was the manager" When I ask him if he was the manager did not responded. I believe he came to the table because we sent the Calamari back, it came cold, tasted like it was fried in old oil and like chewing rubber!
Never again! Way to many Restaurant on this area with just as a great view and much better food and service! What a disappointment and Shame!
I find that most establishment today feels that training their staff is unnecessary, regardless of the job the are hired to do. I yet to go into a restaurant today have a server put a cocktail napkin on the table before they put a drink down.
We were meeting friends from North Carolina who have never been to RI. The scenery was very nice and they enjoyed the view. Unfortunately 6 people ordered meals and only 5 meals came out of the kitchen. The waitress didn’t even realize one meal was missing. By the time my husband’s meal came out the rest of us were 3/4 finished with our meals - not a good experience. They removed his drink from the bill but still charged full price for his meal. This experience was not a good one and don’t expect this to happen in a fine dining 4-1/2 star restaurant!
Great pasta and seafood dish. The views at the restaurant on the water are amazing.
One of the best dining experiences ever. We were there during a torrential downpour and high winds. The ocean was angry and sent spray to the building. The feeling of being secure with great food and excellent service was extremely memorable. We will definitely return!!
Fabulous! Great place to celebrate! We enjoyed a delicious meal and great venue!
This has mow become my go to Restaurant when in RI. The food and service are always top shelf. I will be back in November for sure
We met friends for lunch and sat at a window table inside. The view of course was incredible. The waves crashing on the rocks, the sailboats passing by were great to watch. As we had not met for lunch for some time, Alexa our server, allowed us to sit and chat. She always had a smile and her service was stop on. Thank you Alexa.
Our server was lovely but had been allotted too many tables. It took an hour and a half to get our first course. A manager came to make a very poor apology and was not at all gracious. The food was cold when it arrived. A very bad experience.
We have two recommended the coast guard house without disappointment.
We enjoyed our experience.
Great portions and views
Everything was great, but a fly kept hovering over our food. I mentioned it, but no one tried to do anything, like swat the fly. The fly kept landing in my food. Yuck.
The swordfish was a special treat and everything was great! Thank you! It was great that we could pay for the reservation in advance (daughter from Alaska wanted to treat us!) Thank you everyone. We'll be back!
Great location and great food.
Excellent as always. The Coast Guard House never disappoints. Great service always. Lobster bisque is a fav...
Asked for outdoors in open table app second year in a row didn’t accommodate
Excellent! Will definitely be returning here. The outside patio was beautiful
Well love the location and enjoyed the place before However the FLY issue was very off putting and my meal was all about swatting flies my daughters salad was only half eaten because of FLYS landing on her food and they didn't offer a replacement or refund..
My recommendation if you see a fly avoid as you'll have a meal dominated by swatting them away...
Generally a very pleasent experience. Godd food and a very nice wine list. The one glaring deficiency was the overpiced champaigne. Since I like champagne with my lobster, it put a damper on the whole evening.
