The fact that we were able to split the salad and main dish made the value outstanding! And no questions asked or extra charged.
First went here back in about 3 years ago and everything was wonderful. This time around the food was way over salted, and overall mediocre experience. I wouldn't warn people away from here, but it would no longer get my first reccomendation.
The drinks were good as were the oysters. However, I ordered the Mahi-mahi from the grill and it was raw. Inedible. As soon as I pointed it out to server, she immediately apologized and offered to replace it. I declined and the restaurant removed the cost from our ticket. No complaints on how our issue was handled.
Ambiance was great! My swordfish was undercooked but they cooked it more for me and it was great! Crab soup was dynamite. I would go back for sure.
Braised grouper was excellent. Also had flavorful roasted Brussels sprouts.
Great food, great service
One of our favorite restaurants in Charleston. Nice rustic decor, comfortable atmosphere, playing great music at an easy level for conversation. The shrimp and grits were amazing. Service was excellent. Looking forward to eating there on our next visit to town.
Awesome ambiance. We were sat next to a man with volume issues for his voice. We asked if we could be moved to a different table and the waitress apologized saying they couldn’t make any changes. Then the manager came over and sat us in a new place. Very nice manager and awesome service from that point.
We will go back for sure.
Thought we'd give it a try. Food was tasty but a bit overcooked. Definitely a bar atmosphere. Will stick with Rue de Jean
We went before a concert and the food and drinks was great as usual. I love the hot crab dip.
Had the swordfish with jalapeño cornbread. Wonderful dish as it was recommended by a person I met at my hotel. Fish was a large portion, thick and perfectly seasoned and cooked. Server was great also with perfect timing on appetizer (shrimp), drinks and dinner. Worth a visit.
The food wasn't the best especially for the price as well as the drinks. The restaurant itself is nice and so was the staff.
Grouper, lemon beurre blanc...my favorites. Half off bottles of wine-great deal
Made last minute reservations on our weekend trip to Charleston. Service was a little slow, but our waitress was knowledgeable and kind. Overall a good experience!
Fried oysters and French fries looked like they were fried in dirty oil? Not appealing looking, taste very mediocre. Grouper was good but swimming in all the sauce was not appealing either. Disappointing evening since there are not many seafood restaurants in that location- walking distance of Hotel.
We loved this place! Food was good. Service was excellent and we ate outside in the porch all by ourselves with abundant heat. Appreciated the attention to service and our waitress was so nice!
Great food and outstanding service. Menu with nice variety as well.
We went for Valentines Day dinner and it wasn’t bad. Unfortunately I’m not a seafood guy, and 99% of the menu is seafood. I had the steak, and it was average. My wife had a piece of fish and simply loved it. I would give it a second try, but it’s not really a place for anything fancy.
Valentine menu was wonderful, filet was great and half price bottles of wine? Definitely recommend. After dinner Ole fashions were wonderful.
Excellent experience on valentines day! Great service, food, and setting
Husband enjoyed the mix grill special and I had the baja tacos. The service was very good.
My Seafood Penne was delicious. The steak and salmon were good but could have used more seasoning. Dessert was fantastic and the crab dip was delicious. Server was great!
We eat here everytime we are in Charleston. As always everything was great. It was not as crowded this time, becuase of covid, but food was awesome. If you have never visited, you need to!
We were there early evening. Apps were delicious Fish special on the grill was not very flavorful and overcooked
Celebrating our daughter
Disappointingly average food, not as I remembered it from a few years ago.The calamari was very bland, as well as the sauce it came with. The grilled shrimp were undercooked. The wedge salad just average. With so many amazing restaurants in Charleston, Coast needs to up its game to keep up with the competition. I wouldn’t go back unless the place is revamped.
Best food I’ve ever had! Relaxed vibe on a week night visit
Tuesday nights are date nights with one of the grands and our dinner at Coast was special. From the time we arrived my granddaughter raved about how she liked it, from decor, to the attentiveness of our service, to the ‘best crab soup I’ve ever had’. She loved her wood-grilled salmon, and couldn’t resist a piece of key lime pie for desert.
If the staff at Coast can make my granddaughter feel that special, I figure you must be pretty good indeed.
We are visiting the area and Coast was recommended to us. We enjoyed several things. Mixed green salad with shrimp, wedge salad, shrimp cocktail, hush puppies, calamari, braised grouper and grits and, mixed grill. Everything was very good. It was Sunday so our bottle of wine was half price. You can’t lose going to Coast! Our server was knowledgeable and very helpful along with being attentive.
Coast is our favorite in the Lowcountry and the recent experience was great. We had the mixed grill and the grouper and both were excellent- cooked just right and sauces had great taste. The staff really worked to make it all go well for us.

Loved it! Had a great time celebrating my birthday and enjoyed every second!
Great service, great food, casual restaurant with a steeper price tag- but not unreasonable!
Our server was very knowledgeable on how the chef cooked the entree. She was very good in making suggestions too. We were very pleased with our choices it was a great experience at Coast for a super evening in Charleston
We wanted to try the restaurant week menu and it was great!
We ate off the restaurant week deal with an added order of oysters. The calamari and the crab cerviche appetizers were both excellent. We both got the same main course, the surf and turf, which was also very good, ribeye cooked perfectly. Both deserts were also great. They had a nice beer and wine selection, had an IPA and a Pinot noir which were both very good. The wine list was a little pricey with the cheapest bottle being $40. Riley was our server, she did a great job, knew everything about the menus, beers and wines. The courses were timed perfectly, never on top of each other and never had to wait. Would definitely return on our next trip to Charleston.
Great food. They have amazing cocktails. Never have been disappointed with the food or service.
Excellent fresh seafood along with terrific service! We had oysters in the 1/2 shell as well as the citrus salmon.....both were excellent! Casual atmosphere which was nice since we were in town as tourists and had been out and about all day. Will definitely return in the future.😊
The restaurant is 4+, in my opinion. But the undercooked blackened whitefish and the steamed muscles on the jambalaya were a bit much for my wife. Whitefish in the raw side of things doesn’t have the aesthetic impact that say Ahi Tuna would have, so it turned her off right away. I tried both, the muscles and the undercooked whitefish, and they were good. But the decrease in stars is based on expectation of what jambalaya typically is vs what it was this round. It might be a low country thing, but being new to Charleston, this was a first for us on the whitefish thing.
I had sirloin medium temp, and it was cooked to perfection, but a little on the thin side, and a little gristley. I don’t expect much though since this is a fresh catch joint. The salmon was good, and the shrimp ceviche was outstanding (but missing avocado we thought). But the bacon wrapped jalapeño shrimp, as well as the grill marked pound cake, was outstanding. Decent wine offerings as well, with Bonanza, my personal favorite, on the menu.
Fun place, excellent service, and all around good restaurant.
Food was outstanding fabulous seafood in a town full of seafood choices
