Excellent food and service! We hadn't eaten there in several years, but it was just as good as we remembered!
Poor bar service.
Food was good and drinks and service were great. Baked Oysters were fantastic.
The service was great but it was pretty noisy. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered the mixed grill which came with shrimp, a small steak and small piece of fish. I ordered my steak medium well and it came out still mooing. The rest of the food was lacking in flavor and tasted more charred than anything else. For the poor flavor and portions, the cost wasn’t worth it.
I read a few negative reviews and I don't agree with any of them, the food was cooked to perfection and had tons of flavor, I would reccomend and will be back again!
Girls trip to Charleston - after reviewing menus we reserved at Coast. Charming entrance, very comfortable interior, good server who was helpful with suggestions for dinner and for where to go after dinner. Nice array of food choices, and we all enjoyed our meals - fried shrimp, mahi mahi, scallops and fried flounder. GREAT side of parmesan potatos that we all loved. Veggies were ok, nothing to get excited about. Prices were a bit high, but good portions and well cooked food. Drink choices were ok - disappointed that they were out of ingredients for several of the special cocktails, but probably a side effect of Covid. Restaurant was crowded with diners of all ages, so suspect this is a local favorite.
Dinner and service was average along with the price. Would recommend but don’t expect it to be the best seafood in Charleston.
We like this restaurant and are frequent visitors when in Charleston. Like the ambience and menu
The restaurant was dirty; the table, the floor, the bathroom. It was just dusty and dirty and sticky. The waitress was super nice. Food was OK. Cocktails were OK.
We paid $113 before tip for 2 entrees and two glasses of wine. The pasta and salmon dish was oily and tasteless. The drum & grits special which I was assured was a house special was gross and reeked of too much pesto. The restaurant is “skanky” - like an old restaurant or hotel overdue for a renovation. So disappointed knowing there are so many better options in Charleston for $100+. This is just a “tourist trap!!”
It was date night for the hubs & me on vacay. It was pretty good food but not special in my opinion. The service was very mediocre at best. I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to this place. I would go here again considering there’s soooo many other really good restaurants in Charleston.
Good variety of fresh fish and seafood
Great food and great place!
Great experience! Server was so attentive and friendly. All of our food was very tasty!
Fish was very good. Would definitely recommend the mahi mahi but nothing else. Restaurant was very casual which is fine. But tables and booths look very old. Ordered a half dozen oysters. $16 for 6 was way too much for how tiny these oyster were. Very disappointing. Fish as mentioned was very good but for $30 I could have Gond to a much nicer restaurant. My wife got the wedge salad which was ok but the chicken was very disappointing. It was soaked in bbq and the only chicken option. Waitress acted and dressed like she was working at a dive bar. Also she never refilled water or brought bread. With so many other options I should have picked any other restaurant. Don’t waste your time here.
Food was ok, but overpriced. Worst part was there was dust an inch thick on all the light fixtures highly visible from our seats and directly over our table. Wonder how much dust fell into our food ????
Adorable place but the food was awful. Steak was too tough to cut, fish was bland and shrimp was burnt. Not good.
Nice variety of food. Wood smoked fish was great. Very nice waitress Elizabeth. Layout of tables not crowded. Liked so much going back again.
Waitress was great! Wish I remembered her name. Alcohol drinks were good. Had 2 mules. Need some copper mugs tho;) Food was just ok though! Brussel sprouts for an appetizer were delicious. Crab dip was ok. Kinda heavy! Our son had the wood fired grouper at $36, and it was super plain! His mashed potatoes were good. Veggie’s ok. I had the Abode shrimp with bacon cheese grits. They were dried out and lumpy. Not good at all! The shrimp were just ok. The vegetables with that were bell peppers. My husband had the drum fish which was the better of the 3, but it still wasn’t his favorite. Also only had two desserts to choose from which didn’t seem appealing to a 16 yr old. Maybe have more of a selection?! $162 before tip 🤪 Cool building but I would skip this restaurant!
Our server (Meghan) was super, attentive and informed.
The food was outstanding especially the drum fish. Server was very good and friendly. They had a band for entertainment, fun but hard to talk while they played.
Very good seafood dishes and appetizers. Great live music made the evening special. Highly recommend.
Lovely waitperson but the food was very disappointing.
The food was excellent. However, after making a reservation when we (2) were seated - we were sat at a very small table in the middle of the walking isle. There were two 4 tops open next to the wall and one 2 top booth open (just in my eyesight). When I asked if we could sit at one of those, I was told by the hostess and our server that they were reserved for those who made a reservation. I politely told them that I had made a reservation and then was told that I had to specify in my reservation if I wanted to sit in a booth etc. More booths opened up within the first ten min of us being there, yet no one offered a change of seating or anything.
We ended up getting appetizers and a few drinks and left.
Menu seems to offer less choices than pre-pandemic and the quality of food has slid.
Nice meal. I enjoyed the wood smoke cooked grouper.
The grouper was excellent, my favorite dish is the ceviche. Love the bacon and blue cheese cole slaw, yum!
We had the best waiter, Tyler. Very knowledgeable, and friendly. Food was fabulous. We will be back.
I am not sure how this place has some 4+ reviews, it was the worst place I have ever eaten. My craft cocktail was horrible, three of the four dinners we ordered were horrible. The fried plater was a Long John Silver type of meal barely ok. We did have the oyster appetizer which was very good not sure how it came out of the same kitchen. I hate to write a bad review because I know restaurants every where are struggling to find people but this is not how I wanted to spend my last night of vacation. We actually had to go somewhere else to get some decent food.
The grilled salmon and mani-mani were just right for us. And our server Ashley was so warm, attentive, and professional. We were glad to be at her table.
Delicious food and wonderful drinks in a private room? Yes please!
I loved the location. The staff was amazing! Super friendly. The fish (grouper and salmon) and the steak were very bland like they didn't use anything to flavor it. Same for the steamed vegetables. That was how everyone at the table felt. The mashed potatoes and crab dip were excellent though. I don't think I will go back just because of the sub par food that was $37 per plate.
Nice location Friendly staff food is good.
The service was poor. Youthful wait staff that doesn’t have real dinning experience. The staff was nice but inexperienced
Awesome! That’s the one word that could describe Coast. Service was superb, drinks were amazing, and food was out of this world!
The fish especially the oysters were nice, however I felt like I was in a dive bar so wish I had gone somewhere else
Live music was a little too loud-hard to eat in booth (too much space between bench and table)-food was good and waitress was good. It’s a fun atmosphere-would recommend
Fit our needs when we couldn't get in any where else but would not go back simply due to food quality.
Me and my husband loved this place. The service was excellent we were seated on time and on par with our reservation time slot and our server was very accommodating. The seafood was so fresh. The crab dip was amazing. My husband absolutely LOVED the blackened sword fish étouffée, he cleaned the plate lol! And the garden salad I had was beyond fresh and tasty. Overall, amazing experience, tasty & fresh food. I can’t wait to comeback on our second trip to Charleston to taste the rest of the menu.
