Coast Bar & Grill – Charleston
Service was poor. Had reservation and seated late, fifteen minutes before server came around, 15 minutes to get drinks, etc. restaurant was not very busy. Food was just marginal. Celebrated a 60th birthday which didn’t turn out very great! Won’t be returning!
Had tickets to a show and decided on Coast Bar and Grill for dinner before the show. The ambiance is great, with the high brick wall and the lighting, it felt very cozy and inviting. Our waiter Justin was very attentive without being overbearing. My Shrimp Cocktail was wonderful with a nice spicy cocktail sauce. Green Fried Tomatoes were cooked nice and crispy. Wonderful Experience! Thanks
We had friends visiting from out of town and took them here. They absolutely loved it! The ambiance, the service and the delicious food were just the highlights. Coast set the stage for them for dining in Charleston and they were extremely impressed. The only complaint I have is the lack of seasoning/flavor of the steak. The last few times we’ve eaten there we’ve had the mixed entree special with steak and it’s always cooked perfectly to temperature but, unfortunately, it’s very bland.
Loved the ambiance and the food. Our server was very good. What a wonderful find!
Will go back
This place was recommended by a local of Charleston and it was spot on. Great food, staff and quaint location.
Great food! Our favs are shrimp and grits, scallops, salmon and corn bread.ended up eating there twice.
Delicious food, live tunes by Graham Worley, excellent service, and half price bottles of wine on Sunday night. I enjoyed grilled grouper and key lime pie for dessert. Pretty much a perfect meal, and perfectly satisfying.
We had to wait 30 minutes after our reservation time to be seated...but well worth the wait. Music was too loud...hard to hear the conversation across the table. Food & service were terrific.
Food is very good and reasonably priced. The menu has a lot of variety, the shrimp cocktail is always a favorite! The spinach side is outstanding!
Our waiter Dustin was great. Food was good. Always a great place to eat before a concert at the Music Hall.
We arrived early for our reservation we were able to be seated. Had the shrimp divalo and the wood grilled grouper, drinks were excellent
The scallops were melting in our mouths. Great ambiance in old warehouse. Great anniversary. Thank you.
We enjoyed the ceviche sampler platter and oysters! Yum!! Very fresh!
My wife and I were staying at the Hotel Bennett so we decided to come over for dinner one night. We really enjoyed the vibe and the atmosphere of Coast. Our service was great and very accommodating. I really enjoyed my ribeye. The next time we are in Charleston we will definitely come back.
Always a solid 'go-to" for us. Many of the dishes from the menu are very good but my favorite is always the fish special. These specials are what I consider 'meal-in-a-bowl' in that you get a plethora of goodies under your fish. You can share an app but I'd save the calories/room for dessert. Drinks are very good with their Cosmos being excellent. Good wine selection with 1/2 priced bottles on Sunday. One more thing, seating options are varied; near the bar/kitchen where there's lots of action, on the patio with alley view or the main dining hall with (my fav) atmospheric large paintings of shrimpers/fishermen.
Great ambiance and vibe and great food to boot. Highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a great evening. The menu is extensive and has something for everyone at prices that won't break the bank.
We took our son here for The Citadel Parents weekend his Knob and this Senior year. Both times were excellent. Known for their Mojitos we recommend the mango, be sure to get the crab bisque and extra fresh bread. Great seafood and oysters here are a treat!
Not memorable but good for pre-show dinner. Leave the banana pudding alone.
Best ceviche ever tried in the U.S!
Have eaten here a few times and it never disappoints. Morgan our server was exceptional, and our food was delicious. If you Love mussels this is the place. Just tell your server to bring
Plenty of bread for dipping. All I can say whatever you have here it will be delicious., Tuna, Swordfish etc. Check Out There cocktails I had the Humble Bee Tonight Loved their Sangria
A pleasurable experience from start to finish! Fantastic food, great and quick service and knowledgeable waitstaff!
We went around six - restaurant was pretty empty we got sat right next to another couple very close which was wired given the rest of the place was empty and we made a reservation. The other couple was complaining the whole time about the experience they had. Oysters were good, however the tuna was awful which we were shocked given the reviews on it. Also the drink (vodka mule) was one of the worst drinks we had the whole time we were on vacation.
Outstanding service - our server Carla was excellent. Very informative and accommodating. She even turned down the music, as there was a speaker right over the table.
Food and service was so good the first night, we came back the following evening - and requested Carla for our table again.
Will recommend with 5 stars!!
Coast Bar & Grill is one of my favorite seafood places in Charleston. This visit I was disappointed with the service. There was a long gap between the appetizer and the main course. During that time, the server never checked in with us, nor gave us any kind of an update. The appetizer plates were only removed when I asked the food runner to clear them to give us some room at the table.
The crab dip was noting special, but that could be that I just had a different idea of how i would be served. The main courses were all delicious. Al in all - not up to the usual standard for this restaurant, but still a nice evening and we will definitely go back again.
We had SUCH a wonderful experience! The food , wine and service ( Dustin) was SPECTACULAR! Will
Make it a staple when we are in Charleston!
Alex was great and our food was delicious thank you
Less than hoped for!!
Very friendly,. Great service. Explained the specials and answered our questions. Meals were delish. Will defilnitelhy return there.
It’s been a few years since we were there. Prices went up a little more than expected
I had ordered the restaurant special. It was the wood smoked grouper with 2 sides. The grouper was very bland. The smashed potatoes were excellent. The mixed vegetables were good.
Our meal was delicious! We had a reservation buy arrived early and were seated right away. The timing of our appetizer and meal was perfect. Server was polite and professional. Will definitely return next time we’re in town.
1) Our server, Laura Ann, was outstanding.
2) The food was only ok for the $$$. Except for the bacon wrapped scallops, which were excellent.
3) The place is too loud. I have never been run out of a restaurant because of excessive noise - on a Tuesday!
Good food and plenty of it at this cute restaurant in a converted warehouse along an alley in Charleston.
Had a WONDERFUL experience. My sister and I were in town for a girl's weekend and wanted a nice night out on the town and we got it! Loved the building, the decor, the service from RYLEIGH was impeccable. She was full on knowledgeable about everything we questioned her about. Friendly and very very sweet. The food was to die for, too. From the crab dip to raw oyster, to our mixed sampler, we enjoyed every bite. And the martini's were especially tasty!
The tuna was amazing as well as ciopiono was really good also! It was my husbands birthday and they brought a really good chocolate cake out for him!
This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. The Ceasar salad tasted like it came out of a bag and was soggy with dressing. The wait staff kindly replaced it. The mojitos were so tart I had to add water. Not an enjoyable dinner
Birthday too!! A great evening of food and service.
Really nice Restaurant week menu! Awesome service. I wish I remembered the young mans name because he was so professional. Thanks for a great evening out!
