Get the bread! Fresh made and so good. We got ours with the crab dip appetizer. And they offer you more - I had two pieces for breakfast.
Entrees also excellent. Braised Drum (white fish) with all the mushrooms and fume - would get it again. Also got the Adobo Shrimp - nicely grilled and good spicy heat.
Drinks also good and Tuesday is $3.00 drafts.
Nothing special, especially for a seafood restaurant in Charleston.
Took a little walk up King Street to Coast oyster house. Ambiance was really nice—half way up a little alley street. After cocktails, we chose two fish dishes (a grouper and a drum). Well prepared and not over cooked as is often the case. Best thing on the menu for us was an appetizer—Cangrejo Ceviche. Very tasty with scallops and crabmeat in an excellent marinade. Everything was good, but that ceviche was worth the trip. Split a piece of carrot cake and cups of coffee to complete our meal. We’ll definitely be back on our next trip to Charleston.
Delicious food!!! The braised Drum was recommended & it was SO GOOD!! The sauce was so flavorful that I didn’t want to stop eating it, even though I was stuffed. The blackened swordfish was delicious, but others said they didn’t like the cornbread beneath it. Maybe use a lightly seasoned rice mixed with veggies instead. 😋
My wife and I chose this for her birthday dinner from a friends recomendation. The Chef must not be a Monday person. My wife first tried the fish tacos but the fish was burnt and not edible. The two tacos didn't even have the same ingredients. Curious. The sever was kind and the GM spoke to us and he was also very kind. He agreed the tacos should not have been served. We order salmon for her as a safe altenative. It was also poorly prepared and not edible. Obvoiusly a major dissapointment for a birthday dinner at a seafood restaurant. My scallop special was quite good as were the appetizers. Great atmosphere. I believe the GM will get the chef back on track.
The mussels were delicious and we enjoyed the company at the bar while listening to the live music.
Server was excellent!! The amount of seafood compared to other restaurants in this area was not good.
Had a great time celebrating my birthday at Coast! Loved the key lime pie with a candle! The calamari was a little over done and so was my swordfish. The service was great and responsive! The manager walked by several times but did not ask how our food tasted. There was a $3 dollar price delta for a dish on special and the same dish on the menu( menu was $3 less). Uber’ed right to the alley without a problem!
Amelia was a fantastic server, food was great, hush puppies with honey butter was ridiculous.
Great service, excellent food!
Your food is terrible, you need to sit down sometime and eat off the menu and think how how hard people work to pay for your meals. We deserve better. If you can't deal with numbers cut back do less and take some pride in what you do. No one there can go home at night and think that they have done a good job. Churning out inedible food to people who won't ever come back is not much fun.
The Blue crab dip was SO delicious. I chose the blackened swordfish with Etouffe and I am so happy I did. Everything on the menu sounded amazing I will be back for sure. Great wine and beer list as well. :D
We were on a family vacation (19) and my husband and I decided we wanted a date night. We started with crab soup, which was rich and tasty. I had the braised drum and it was delicious. My husband had mixed grill which was also great. Service was also great.
Food & service were stellar! Pricey but worth it. A little loud. Not for romantic dinners.
Amazing! This place was an unexpected surprise. The food was incredible, the atmosphere is rustic and interesting. Our server was the best, she didn’t miss a beat. We are going to make sure this restaurant is on the agenda every time we come to town. Truly wonderful experience.
This was our 25th anniversary dinner, and everything beat my expectations. We had fresh ceviche, raw oysters, steak, fresh grouper and shrimp. Meal was perfect. Our server, Riley, was excellent as well.
I'd say this was a very average dining experience. The outside of the restaurant looks nicer than inside. The service was excellent, the food mediocre and the ambience was lacking. It felt like I was dining in my garage ... cold stark concrete floors !!!
The blackened swordfish was outstanding! Our server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable.
Love this place! Sunday is half price bottles of wine and live music. Food could not have been better!
The food was phenomenal and our waitress was very attentive and well versed in the menu. The ambience was really cool and there was live music in the background. We had an awesome experience and would definitely go back!
Very fun place for dinner. We ordered the grouper and blackened swordfish. Very tasty. Also, shrimp ceviche was incredible. Lots of shrimp and great flavor. Will definitely return. Key lime pie for dessert topped off a great meal with my wife.
Always great! One of favorites in Charleston!
Food was great. Service was a little on the slower side most likely due to lack of help like everywhere else. A couple of the items we ordered they were out of which I'm sure was because we didn't arrive until 9PM. Would definitely eat here again.
Delicious! Fresh! Even gave us a free dessert because we were celebrating our anniversary
We enjoyed the recommendations from our waitress. The calamari appetizer was delicious . We also loved the fact that they divided our dinner in separate bowls for we were sharing. Our compliments to the chef.
Excellent place for fresh seafood, we eat here every time we visit Charleston! I had the Braised Drum, it was the best meal this trio!
My wife and I had a date night on Tuesday 14 July. I had the grouper. It was the SECOND best fish dish I have had. My wife had the Braised Drum, that was the BEST fish dish I have ever had. Draft beers were $3 on Tuesdays. We went to another bar later and the same beers were $9.50 a piece.
This place was a hidden gem! Loved the ambiance, the service, and the food. I'd never had drum fish before and what they served was so very rich and filling. Appetizers were perfectly sized and flavorful. The server was down to earth and staff made sure we were taken care of. We are from out of town but return annually so Coast Bar and Grill is a keeper for us!
We had a great experience and highly recommend. Too bad we are just visiting the area for a few days otherwise we would visit more frequently.
the food is edible, not gourmet or memorable for that matter. we do not need to go back here again. Meghan our server was exceptional. the restaurant is also not easy to locate.
live music was good.
Parking is a thing when going to this place, so plan accordingly. We parked in a lot across the street and paid $15. Yuck.
The restaurant itself was a cool vibe, but it was very loud and that took away from its charm. The hush puppies were more of a donut type, served with a honey butter. I don’t recommend them. My husband had the mixed grill and loved it! Said the bacon jalapeño shrimp was the best he’s ever eaten. I ordered the fried shrimp plate and it was okay. All in all, it’s a fun place, but overpriced for the experience.
Fresh fish, hot creamy delightful mashed potatoes and crisp seasoned vegetables. Great service.
Our waitress was awesome! Food and atmosphere great
Our blood orange margaritas were ok, and the crab dip appetizer was good. Chef’s special of steak, grouper and shrimp sucked. That was not grouper, and where was the jalapeño for the shrimp? Steak was so so. Lousy meal, waitress was nice. Will not recommend!
Great service from the moment we arrived. The food was perfectly prepared. We will definitely go back… and recommend to others
Beer was lukewarm. Salmon Florentine was very basic-tasted like blackened salmon in chicken broth. 12 steamed oysters were $32. Very small servings for the price. Service was very slow. Had to wait 20-25 minutes for a drink order.
Great meal, cocktails! Service efficient.
Delicious seafood. Must try the cangrejo ceviche!!
Felt like the hassle of booking was not worth the quality of this restaurant
